Some people have been waiting rather patiently for this. Well, I decided that The Last Light would be easier to write once new OoD was more fleshed out, and because I am so ready to start this. The CYOA is mostly choice driven, but there are actually stats this time, which you will never see . Seriously though, all but health are hidden values. I will not have maths in my CYOA! Maybe if you ask nicely. Anyway, let's get on with it. ---- Chapter 1: Not Quite Dead --- Darkness swallows you, fully and complete engulfing your entire being. For a brief instant, you have no beginning, and no end. You are dying. You fell from somewhere, somewhere high. Perhaps it was from the top of a tree. You remember the crunch of the branches snapping beneath your feet, the ground rising up to meet you. The beginning of a scream on your lips at the sudden rising of the ground to meet you. You definitely fell from a branch, and you are dying. You try to open your eyes as spots flash across your vision, and you feel the cool metallic taste of your blood against your tongue. It is not time for you to die yet though. You still have a lot of work to do. What work is that? You have no idea, but the work still must be there. You blink your eyes open for just a moment, enough time to look around and see where you are. You are in a forest, resting against an oak tree. A large hole has been ripped through the canopy of the forest, allowing light to stream into what would otherwise be a dark, dank, dangerous section of wood. It must have been from where you fell, you deduce. Though why it is so grand in size, You haven't a clue, but it must have been a thinner section of the canopy that allowed you to fall like you did. Your eyes lose the fight to stay awake, and slowly your other body parts follow. Lastly, as you slip out of consciousness, you hear a small stream to the south, and more impressively, that you head people crossing it. As you finally slip into unconsciousness, you silently hope that whoever finds you happens to be a healer. --- Sorry. This is all I can out tonight. Brain stopped working about ten minutes ago. In other words, I'm sleepy. Good night.

YAY!!!!! OoD is back!!! I'm so happy!!!! Also, please mister Wizard? I'm asking nicely. Please may we have maths in your CYOA? Oh, and let it be known... ThioxLindy is still canon, and it will happen again. Anyone who tries to stop Lindy and Thio from being together will face my squirrelly wrath. I might let Melara have a chance this time around. Maybe.

You awake a second time to the jostling of a cart and the sound of hooves. Above you, you see just the wooden ceiling of some sort of cart. The walls of the cart are made of wrought iron bars, rusted with time, but still strong enough to serve their purpose. The next thing you notice is how as you shift your weight, the splintery floor digs into your back. You weren't particularly aware of what you were wearing before you passed out the second time, but you were wearing something. You rise to your elbows to further appraise yourself. You wince with every movement as your muscles and bones ache with protest, but it is certainly an improvement from earlier when you could hardly move at all.
Your feet are bare, as well as your lower legs. You are wearing sack cloth pants a size too large, tied around your waist with a rope. Certainly not yours, you dismiss derisively, but why are you so certain? Your head is too foggy to recall anything else about yourself at the moment, except your... No, you realize suddenly. You don't even remember your own name! You begin to panic.
"Who am I?" You ask yourself quietly, hoping that your brain would answer you. Nothing. "Where am I?" Nothing. "How did I get here?" A flash of inspiration sparks from your hurting head.
You are a prisoner, but what kind of prisoner are you? Those who took you have taken all of your valuables, but instead of leaving you to die, you are very much alive. You must have looked valuable enough to be ransomed for something, but why have you been healed? Highwaymen rarely have disgraced healers in their company, and while it is still possible, he probably would have done the bare minimum to keep you alive, while you are clearly able to get up and move around.
Finally, the answer strikes you as you see that you are not alone in your cage. You don't know how you didn't see her earlier, but on the other side of the cart lies a small young woman, curled up up tightly, clutching a kneader staff in one hand tightly, the other pulling her sackcloth tunic tighter over her body in order to protect herself against the cold.
What do you do?
a) wake her up b) let her sleep

Or maybe you could ship new characters since there are new characters, and some of the characters are different than they used to be (read as: I tweaked/overhauled everyone)

Sorry Neo, but I'm rooting for Melara. Dito, centuries of friendship and admiration beat any amnesic meet-cute.

I vote A. And damn... I'm actually torn this time on who to ship Thio with. That's a first for me. Ah well, I'll just wait and see what happens. Also, and this is a little off topic, you need to choose a different Shout for your character in the TES RP Os. And Grayjack, you need to hurry up and join. I demand it! ;P

Eh, now seems like as good a time as any to go over how relationships are built. You can build relationships by fighting side by side. If two characters participate in a chapter, they automatically gain a relationship point, but those points cannot be cashed in unless those two characters actually fight side by side in combat, or go through some other harrowing/slightly less harrowing experience with each other, since war forms binds and things. This will allow relationships to grow quicker, I think. You can choose to increase two character's relationship by suggesting that they do something together during down time. This will look different depending on who the characters are. For example, you won't find Lindy going hunting with Hawke, but they could practice archery, with Hawke teaching Lindy the basics.
Oh yeah, Most characters can romance whomever they want to. There are a few exceptions. Very few exceptions. (Cyrus and Alice/Alicia CANNOT S Rank). Anthiok isn't one of them.

A won? There's a shocker. ---
"Hey, wake up," you call out to the girl's sleeping form softly, trying to keep your voice low in order to avoid unwanted attention from your captors. The girl does not stir, so reluctantly, you try to get closer. Your aching muscles protest, but with work, the pain begins to fade to a dull throbbing. The damage seems to have been fully healed. The only pain now comes from a lack of use, which will fade as you begin to move around again. You crawl on your elbows over to the girl minding the splintery wood and rise to a crouch. You reach out to gently shake her awake with one hand, but you hesitate. The girl's golden blond hair is cut short, laid out around her head. It has been recently cut, and would not fall even to the girl's slim shoulders if she were upright the girl is small, fragile looking, and as skinny as a twig, but she holds her kneader stave in a vice-like grip that as if her life depended on it. Her hands and feet are dusted with a layer of dirt and mud, probably from recent fieldwork, or some other outdoors activity. She is certainly no wall flower, but then again, most peasants aren't. Yet she looks so peaceful sleeping soundly, you almost reconsider waking her. Almost.
You reach down and gently shake her shoulder. Her eyes open sleepily peering up at you, then fly open with a start. She lets out a startled gasp and lashes out with the kneader, striking you in the side of the head. Instantly, the wound is healed by the staff's effects, but it still smarts.
she brings her arm around to strike you again, but this time, you are on guard, and deftly catch the blow in one hand, and put a finger to her lips with the other, silencing her.
"I'm not going to hurt you," you whisper softly and quickly, "but I have a few questions for you. Is that alright?" She answers with an imperceptible nod.
"Who are you?" You whisper.
"Lindy," the blond girl's name.
How petite sounding
"Do you know my name?"
"No."
Well that was a quick answer.
since you have no idea where you are going, the cart can stop at any time. Whatever line of inquiry you choose to pursue better count, but you know almost nothing about yourself. What should you ask?
a. How did you get here b. How did Lindy get here c. Who are your captors d. Other (seriously, one question.)

Yeah. The only problem I find with Cyoas when it comes to shipping is thT when the voters love one female over the other it quickly become unbalanced. And in some cases it leaves the other romance candidate under developed.

C, but neo lets at least learn from past experience and not immediately ship the first girl we meet. B-But... B-But it's Lindy... How can I not ship them? Lindy and Thio were the precursor to Kanis and Trail. Telling me not to ship ThioxLindy is like telling me not to ship TrailxKanis in a UB reboot. And Kanis was the first girl we met in UB. Look how that turned out. It turned out perfectly. Sorry. I just... I can't do it. I can't really explain it, but I'm dead serious. My apologies to Melara but.... I am hereby renouncing the reconstruction of the USS ThioxLindy. Once it's finished, I will add it to my fleet. And let's be honest people. You know I never lose a shipping war. So sorry Melara... This particular CYOA is very close to my heart. It's as close to my heart as UB itself. And I just can't imagine OoD without the Dragon Princess...

Get back over to gamefaqs and read my CYOA on topic, if this is a reboot then. Old canon pairings wouldn't exist. for ex. In spiderman 1-3 Mary Jane is peter Parker's love interest completely ignoring Gwen stacy. The amazing spider man series doesn't count.... Curse TASM2 I hate you Osborn. anyway sorry for the off topic stuff. But whoever didn't get shipped in the other CYOA I the one in shipping for. I'm a sucker for childhood friend romances, sorry Neo.
