The only thing I can think of that we left behind is Lindy's kneader staff, so maybe they'll find that and track us back to camp.
That's my guess I suppose.

You remain quiet on the trek back to Matthew's and Lindy's village, allowing them lead the way. Only the faintest starlight shines through the foliage overhead, lending the forest a dark, almost sinister look. Your eyes are better adjusted to the night, but even then, you mostly see shadows, barely able to make out the silhouettes of Matthew and Lindy, naught five feet in front of you. How Matthew is able to navigate this so easily is beyond you, but he moves with the grace of one familiar with the forest. Lindy is also seems to have no trouble, moving through the undergrowth, an ability which must come from years of experience in the woodland. You consider it even more impressive that she is doing it in a white robe, which you would have thought would get snagged on a bramble by now. How they are able to navigate in the dark, making several sharp turns over the course of your trek, confounds you, until you cross over a small stream, and open your ears. You almost laugh out loud at the system. Water rushing over rocks, between nooks and crannies, through mud, against trees, branching into streams and eddies. Some burbling as soft as a whisper, while others roar loud, the sound of the water changes as they move. If rivers and brooks run throughout this forest, it would be possible to use them in order to listen to them, how large they are, how fast they go, what they run into, in order to gain an estimate of where one is.
While listening to the rivers, trying to separate the sounds like you assume Matthew has done, you begin to hear bits of a conversation between Matthew and Lindy. You try to ignore them and continue your study of navigation via river, but your curiosity gets the best of you, and your attention turns to their conversation.
"You seem upset," Matthew tells Lindy.
"You should have gone to the Order, Mattie." Lindy replies, "You should have gotten help from the Order. Then you wouldn't have been taking on a doze bandits by yourself."
"And risk you getting shipped off to pirate land? Not a chance. Even if we weren't friends, the town needs its doctor."
"I don't think that the Order would let one of its priestesses go so easily, even if I am just a lowly cleric."
"Look, I couldn't just let a bunch of bandits stroll into my town and walk away with anyone without doing anything about it. If you are going to get mad at me for saving your life, so be it."
"It's not that," Lindy sighs, "it was just incredibly stupid of you."
"Really? I thought it was rather brave of me."
"It was stupid," Lindy insists. "You could have died."
"Fine, fine," Matthew shrugs. "But I'm alive, and you're safe, right?"
"Yeah, I guess you're right. Thanks."
You stop listening to their conversation. Something is bothering you, something they said, but you aren't sure what. You get the feeling as if you are missing something important, something that should be obvious, but is currently slipping your mind. What is it? --- there is a flaw in their escape. I'll give you a day to decide what could be wrong. You get one chance each. There is no prize for being the person who gets it. It just needs to be answered correctly by someone.

Hmm... Here's my guess. You said it was obvious, right? Well, they're escaping to the very same village the bandits kidnapped Lindy from in the first place. It's the first place the bandits will look for Lindy and Thio, since they both escaped together. The only logical assumption is that they fled back home. I bet the bandits will already be at the village, waiting. Or they already razed the village to the ground and left.
Also, I missed my chance to ship Lindy! Dammit!!!

Sorry for the unexpected mini hiatus. Neo is right. Matthew is a bit of an idiot. A competent idiot, but still an idiot. I will post again tonight. Or tomorrow morning if I need to do some battle testing.

"We can't go to your village" you say suddenly, getting the attention of both Lindy and Matthew.
"What do you mean we can't go home," Matthew replies irritably. "If you don't want to come, leave."
"No," you try to explain, "you shouldn't return to your village. The bandits will surely be looking for us there, and if they think that you have helped us escape they will not be gentle."
"I know that they are going to look there, and I can take care of them if I need to. What I need to do is stash the two of you away until the situation is resolved. I'll come get you afterwards."
"It isn't that simple. Lindy is already connected to your village, and four of them are dead. Even if you weren't the one who killed them, I don't know if they would care about the explanation you give them. They may just kill you."
"Or they might not." Matthew retorts. "It will look suspicious if I am not back by the time the bandits come looking for me too. If that happens, they will begin questioning the people, and I don't think they will be, how did you put it?, 'gentle' with them either."
"You're right," you admit, "they might not. But it would still be safer if we weren't there. Or anywhere near there when they come."
"So what do you propose we do?" Lindy asks. "We all need to agree on what to do if any of them are going to work, so we should make our plan now before we go any farther."
"So how about a vote?" You ask.
"Fine," Matthew reluctantly agrees. "I'm sticking by my plan. What's yours?"
--- A. Hide nearby while Matthew tries to defuse the situation. B. Go into town ready to fight the bandits. C. Head to Sarcorn without Matthew --- Sorry. It was a little longer than I expected.

I'll back Grayjack. Also, you really like Lolis, huh Jack? And Clover... First time ever. In any CYOA. And besides, things worked out anyway. I was just a bit rusty. I'm not used to voting in CYOAs with dangerous decisions with real consequences, especially with characters I love. Like June and Lindy. But now, it seems as if I'll need to get my game back again...

She kinda looks it in the picture, but she's not really a loli. She's Cordelia Glauca from Tantei Opera Milky Holmes.

"I'll go along with this plan of yours," you concede. Just tell me where to go. You're right. It would be wrong to let your village fend for itself."
"Glad you could see things my way." Matthew looks up at the sky, and says, "The sun will be coming up soon. Do you think you can take him from here?"
"Yeah, I believe so." She replies
"Good. Then I will see you two when this is all over."
He disappears into the trees, leaving you alone with Lindy. You watch in amazement as he almost seems to dissolve into the shadows. It takes Lindy tugging gently on your shoulder to get your attention. Lindy leads you along, with a slower gate thsn Matthew did, but after a few back tracks and some slip ups, the two of you come into sight of a wide, slow flowing river free of tree cover of any kind. On the other side is a small cottage you deduce to be Lindy's. To your left, you can catch a glimpse of a sunrise. You walk up to the bridge and look down into the water, getting a blurry glimpse of yourself.
Looking at your reflection is like looking at a ghost. Silver eyes are set in your sickly pale face under a furrowed brow. On a smooth, heart shaped face, framed by dirty white hair which has been stained with blood and dirt, which hangs down, faintly hiding a blood soaked bandage wrapping around your head. You look like you've died and come back to life, but you are you, and you recognize your face. It's some sort of progress. Enough for you to break into a grin that morphs into a grimace as your sudden expression tears open whatever wound hides under your bandage, causing it to bleed freely again.
"Here, " Lindy sighs, tapping the side of your head with her staff. "Try not to open that up any more. I'm good, but if you insist on bleeding out from your own stupidity, there isn't much I could do to help you."
"Thanks," you mutter, feeling your throbbing going down already. You look down at the water one more time, feeling delicately under the bandage, you feel the hard edge of your ear. Right. You have pointed ears. Why is that again? Humans don't have pointed ears. So what are you?
Suddenly Lindy yells in surprise, interrupting your thoughts. She is on the bridge, slowly backing away from a dour looking man wielding a large axe. You leap into action, rushing onto the bridge. Hastily, you shove Lindy behind you as your muscles take over, dropping into a combat stance and leveling your lance's point at your assailant's throat.
how did they find us here? did Matthew betray us?
It seemed unlikely that he would go through the trouble of freeing you just to capture you again, but what else could have happened? You turn your attention back to the situation at hand as two more axe men, barbarians by the look of them, emerge from Lindy’s cottage and a myrmidon steps onto the bridge behind you.
"What now?" Lindy whispers.
A. Surrender B. Attack the myrmidon. C. Attack the barbarian. D. Jump off of bridge to escape (Lindy will follow) E. Something else

How deep is the river? If it's not very deep, then here's my vote... E. Have Thio deal with the Myrmidon quickly, while Lindy jumps into the river. The myrmidon won't be able to deal that much damage to Thio, due to his OP defense and Weapon Triangle, but Thio should be able to 2HKO the myrmidon, who has low defense, attack, and HP. Lindy then swims back to the shore, while Thio backs up, blocking the entrance of the bridge. Lindy will stand just behind him, out of possible Hand Axe range, and heal Thio while he tanks the enemies. Matthew will arrive soon, in all his blood crazed glory, so we only have to hold out. And we can't escape into the river anyway, as Os specifically mentioned how slow it is.
