So, Golurk's awesome RP convinced me to start my own... Don't worry about me neglecting my other projects, I'm an excellent multitasker. So, without further ado... 800 years have passed since the slaying of the World Eater, Alduin. It is now the first year of the 5th era, and with the dawn of this new age, a blight has spread across the land of Tamriel. The Dread Lord Sithis has risen. The Empire has fallen. The Gods are no more. Hoards of demons roam freely across Tamriel. And the Dark Brotherhood now rules the world from the seat of the old Empire, now called the Whispering Tower.Only pockets of resistance still remain, and those will not last much longer. The time for the final battle draws nigh. What side will you choose? Will you become the savior of all mortalkind, or will you choose the mantle of darkness, and become The Dread Lord's champion? Step into the gates traveler, and behold a land teetering upon the abyss. One way or another, the Elder Scrolls will decide the fate of Tamriel. The race to find the Elder Scrolls is on, and Tamriel will never be the same. All the the cities of man have fallen. The provinces of Tamriel have been reduced to rubble. All save one. While tiny pockets of Humans, Elves, Orcs, Kahjiit, and Argonians still remain across Tamriel, only Skyrim remains intact, the last bastion of Mortalkind, protected only by the dying wishes of the fallen gods. All the Deadric Princes have bowed to Sithis. All trace of rebellion has been crushed. But a single shred of hope still lingers, as a candle in the night...in his last bid to save mankind, Akatosh scattered the remnants of his soul, as well as the location of the remaining Elder Scrolls, so The Dread Lord could not use the power for His own. These remnants came to be known as the 'Shards'. The Shards embedded themselves into the souls of chosen warriors from every race, granting them powers and knowledge beyond their wildest dreams. You are one of these chosen warriors. As the prophecies have foretold, you will either banish Sithis from Tamriel forever, or help him gain absolute dominion over the universe. The choice is up to you. You, are one of the Shards of Akatosh. Here we go people! Your character can be from any of the races from Skyrim. Characters cannot be overpowered, but you guys already know that. Spells do not require a medium, and cannot destroy more than a large house. The only exception is Expert and Master Level spells. Expert Spells can only be found by defeating certain high ranking demons in the main plot, and Master Level spells can be found along with the Elder Scrolls, also in the main plot. In order to challenge Sithis, all ten Elder Scrolls must be collected. You can begin your journey in any Province, not just Skyrim. All the cities in Skyrim are intact. Your characters can do whatever you please, but the main plot will not advance until all MCs have met in Solitude, one way or another. If you would like to coordinate with me on the plot, feel free to PM me, and I will tell you what I have planned so far. I have not planned out the entire plot yet, so there is a great deal of room to discuss. I will post the rest of the lore in the soon to be discussion topic. Also, as a Shard of Akatosh, you can have one Shout from the game. This Shout is permanent, so choose wisely. All Shouts automatically come with all three words, and have the exact same power and effect from the game. Character submissions must look like this. Name: Gender: Race: Age: Description: Main Weapon Proficiency(1H, 2H, Bow, Staff): Main Armor Proficiency(Light, Heavy, Robes, Clothing): Shout: Background:

Name: Varren Summerset Gender: Male Race: High Elf Age: 215(Looks 27) Description: Tall and muscular, with pale white skin, upper back length snowy white hair kept in a single braid, and dark amber eyes. Wears a set of Enchanted Ebony Armor, with an Elvish Circlet instead of the helm. Wields the legendary sword Dawnbreaker. Main Weapon Proficiency: 1H Main Armor Proficiency: Heavy Shout: Slow Time Background: The former King of Summerset Isle, he led the Aldmeri Dominion in the last stand of the Elves, a now infamous battle against the legions of Sithis, called 'The Battle of the Setting Sun', which culminated in the annihilation of the Dominion. Despite losing his entire army, his kingdom, and the majority of his people, he alone managed to survive. After being killed by Sithis Himself, he was given a second chance at life by Ratatosk and Meridia, the Daedric Princess of Dawn, who secretly plots to destroy Sithis. Imbued with a Shard of Akatosh, Varren sets out on a quest of vengeance. Originally, Varren was an orphan on the streets of Summerset's capital, but after being caught stealing one fateful day, he was adopted by the King at the time and raised as a prince. He joined the military at a young age, and soon became a celebrated General. While he never quite agreed with the policies of the Thalmor, he tolerated them to prevent Civil War. When the legions of Sithis first made their move, he was slow to act, and now blames himself for the state of the world. He journeys to avenge his people, and to recover his very soul, which Sithis sealed away in the Void.
Oh, and by the way... You can be practically anyone. The High King of Skyrim, one of the Jarls, or even the Listener. Why, you could be the Listener and choose to betray Sithis.

Umm, Neo, I'm not here to rain on your parade, but GX and I have been planning a massive TES CYOA for almost two months at this point. This makes me slightly worried for one reason or another. I would help with this, but I might get carried away. I could help with canon since I've done an ungodly amount of research with GX. What could be cool would be short little references to the CYOA, since that will take place long before this.

*jaw drops upon seeing this thread*
...This is weird. Golurk and I have been planning a Elder Scrolls CYOA for a while now. Possible cameo appearances, anyone?
Name: Lorelei Gender: Female Race: Nord Age: 23 Description: A tall woman with dark blonde hair, very pale skin, and grayish blue eyes. Although very strong, she prefers to fight from a distance using a bow. Rarely uses magic anymore. Main Weapon Proficiency: Bow Main Armor Proficiency: Light Armor Shout: Become Ethereal Background: Grew up near Winterhold, living a fairly ordinary life until she started adventuring, teaching herself to use a bow and how to survive in the wilderness. Along the way she became very proficient in magic, and joined the College of Winterhold. She usually prefers to be alone, but will work with others if a task or journey is going to be dangerous. She actually became the Archmage at one point, but left that position two years ago and disappeared without a trace, or even a warning. Currently living in Solitude, where she rents a bedroom in the home of one of the middle class families in town. They rarely speak with each other, as she's usually always gone during the day, and she always pays her rent on time so there really is no need to speak to her. She makes money doing the occasional odd job, but mostly by hunting and making various products with the hides and other materials, which she sells on the weekends in town. She actually still has a lot of money saved up from her days at the College, but she won't spend it for some reason. Also, she never speaks about her past, and some question if Lorelei is even her real name.

I would love your help with canon, and I wouldn't be against throwing some references in. Also, whether you participate or not is up to you, but I don't see any possible conflict between your CYOA and this RP.

There are no hard feelings. No need to feel sorry. The CYOA will have multiple endings with some big differences, but with stuff to correct them. Some serious stuff goes on that I won't spoil, but depending on which ending we make canon, there might be a few changes in religion. The CYOA itself has all basic mechanics in stone, we're just working on quests and some RNG and other calculations.
Actually, I'll help work on this with a character too.

Our CYOA takes place so far before this one, I see no reason why there would be a problem. And from the looks of it, there's nothing even remotely similar about the plot. Frankly, I think this RP could help get people excited about our CYOA.
And I've done just as much, if not more, research than Golurk has. So if you ever want some extra help, you have two people who can help.

She's probably done a bit more research. Mine's primarily Lore and artifacts, but she's the master of geography and landmarks. She probably has more information on specifics while I've been hoarding lore knowledge. Hey, GX, I've thought of a name for the CYOA, but it might be a bit spoilery. How does "The Missing God" sound?

I first I thought you were referring to something else and I was about to correct you, but then I realized what you meant. I like it.
Also, I've studied a ton of lore and about a ton of artifacts as well. I'm also more knowledgeable about the literature in the games.

Awesome, I could use both of your help then. I know quite a bit about TES myself, thanks to the UESP, but I'm always open to suggestions and corrections. Also, I need to get some sleep now. I'm not going to actually start the RP yet however, not until we get a few more people to join.

Well that is a certain character who may not be really important's title. If people look things up... We still need to work on stuff for a certain Daedric Realm for the story and stuff. I have to complete a battle system, stat system, bestiary that covers three whole provinces, a catalog of arms and armor, work on a whole inventory, write a bunch of new books and journals, compile a comprehensive list of alchemical ingredients and catalog their effects, decide on blessings and diseases, decide on what spells to include and make any new ones, and even more stuff.
I think you can work on that. It's not going to kill you.

Don't worry. I've thought it out. I just need to run it by you first. I'll finish up the Thieves Guild. Sorry for piling the structural work on you.

Shame I can't join this. I don't know a bloody thing about skyrim. As long as you learn the basics, you should be fine. There is actually a lot of depth to the TES lore, but you basically don't need to know anything about it in the games, so it's probably going to be the same way in this RP.
And you know what's the easiest way to pull it off, even though you're still learning? Make your character an amnesiac who remembers absolutely nothing. Then your character is going to ask about things, and you'll learn with them, without things being out of character. It's a very natural way to learn about the universe. Plus, since you're learning at the same time as they are, you'll feel more in synch with them.

Name: Avenicci Dupére Gender: Male Race: Imperial Age: 23 Description: With short hair and short temper, the noble blooded Avenicci Dupére has come from a line of famous thieves in Cyrodiil. Though he himself prefers the arcane, he isn't opposed against using less than legal techniques to get what he wants. Has a spectacularly groomed mustache to charm the ladies with, only to hurt them on accident. He has no idea how to interact with girls other than twirling his fabulous facial hair. His hair is extremely dark and polished, and his stature is thin and moderate height. Weapon: Staff Armor: Clothing Shout: Cyclone Background: Born and raised in the city of Skingrad, he never had a penchant for thieving like his family. He preferred the life of a noble to the life of an adventurer, so he often stayed indoors and studies spells. He fled to Skyrim with his fiancée, but she sadly did not survive the journey.
