Age of Destruction: Fire Emblem CYOA

Rhett finally decides he wants to train with Nevyn more and tosses the sword aside.  He walks out to the training grounds and works with the training dummy for a bit.  "Huh."

Sorina encases herself in much heavier armor.  "I won't let anyone through!"

Harv adds some spiked pauldrons to his outfit.  "Time t' educate some adversaries on th' finer points o' warfare!"

Stella holds up her light tome.  "I've been practicing magic for so long... and I'm still not very good..."  She sighs sadly as she places it down, and cheerfully picks up an axe and staff instead.  She adds a leather breastplate, as well as arm and shin guards.  "Oh well, can't afford to slow people down.  This is gonna be fun!"

Alice anxiously departs ahead of the others before Allune swoops down after her.  "We can't be sure there aren't more assassins lurking around.  I'm sure we could get there ahead of everyone, but it's safer to travel as a group."

"Ugh...  I know, I know.  You're right...  But the spirits have gone... insane!  I know you can't hear it, but they're... they're screaming!  Something is wrong.  Seriously wrong!  We...  We have to hurry!"

Allune grabs her by the shoulders.  "Alice.  Calm down.  You aren't going to be able to help anyone like this."

"I...  But...!"

"Alice!  What would your mother do?"

Alice falls silent.  She nods softly and wraps her arms around Allune's neck.  The pair fly back just as the convoy is finished being loaded.  Everyone is ready to go just after lunch.  They're joined by two squadrons of Valerian pegasus knights.

"Hard march!" Lily orders.  "I know you're exhausted, but there's no time to rest!"

"Dig deep, everyone!" Rand adds.

"At a forced march, we should arrive early in the morning.  We don't know what's going to be waiting for us when we get there - we need to be ready for anything!"

END OF CHAPTER 4 - The Second Siege of Trine

Oh yeah.
Character sheets on R20 are out-of-date. Updating them one-by-one is a pain. So I'm only going to update people when they get deployed. The status thing in the Discussion page is up-to-date.

Oh. I forgot to put Drake on the map. Or make his character sheet. Or make his token. Or do any of that for the other new recruit. Or enemy laguz... Um.

For anyone actually using the map, just pretend there's 2 cats and a hawk as enemies in the top-left, and an allied fire dragon laguz (with Jagen-level stats).

(You forgot to change some of the characters' classes in the status, but I assume their stats are the same.)

Send the pegasus knights to help with the village.

Drake, do a Jagen on one of those cats.

Sylvia, strike the Mogall in front of you with your sword. Stella, move in and finish it.

Shep, fire some magic at the mauthe doog nearby. Allune, help him out with some arrows.

Gin, move forward and strike at the Gwyllgi. Lily, move in by his side and fire some magic at that tiger. Suarrure, dance for Stella. Stella, head down and heal Gin. Rand, fly in and finish the tiger.

Alice, throw some magic at the elder bael. Rhett, move in and take it out.

Gale, keep the doog nearby busy.

If we get behind somewhere, Isana, dance and give them a second chance to defeat the enemy.

Kurt, Quinn, and Nevyn, head east to investigate that light.

The pegasus knights fly to provide support to the village.  (Note: Allied units will receive a +3 bonus to all stats when fighting in the village)

One of the cats leaps at Drake.  He grabs the cat out of the air and unleashes a jet of flame before throwing the cat over his shoulder and moving on to the next.  A second cat pounces and he unleashes a beam of flame.  The cat is knocked aside, but immediately regains its footing and slashes at him.  It barely leaves a scratch on his thick hide.  He swings back at it, but the cat leaps clear - only for a pegasus knight to suddenly drop down from above and finish it off.

"What?  Who a- Reinforcements!  Reinforcements have arrived, everyone!  Now's the time!  Rally together!" Drake rears back and roars loudly.

Sylvia leaps out of the darkness and stabs at the nearest mogall with her blade.  It turns and glares.  Purple rings appear around her.  She leaps up as they slice through where she was a moment before.  As she lands, she nicks it with the tip of her sword.  While it's distracted, Stella leaps forward and axes it in its blind spot.

Shep recites a spell and a beam of light pierces the darkness, cutting through the mauthe doog nearby.  It's blown back by the force of the blast.  Allune lands and takes a knee.  She pulls out her bow and carefully aims before loosing an arrow.  It thuds into the doog and finishes it off.

Gin steps forward and challenges the gwyllgi.  He stabs it, then throws his shield up as it tries to bite back.  He pulls back before the monster can follow-up.

Suarrure dances towards Stella.  "Oh, hel-lo.  Y'know, the only thing sexier than a cute-tailed kitty is one that knows how to work a giant axe..."

Stella hisses at him and darts off.  She wants to heal Gin, but he doesn't seem injured.  So she tries to smash the monster's side instead.  It leaps to the side at the last second.  It was trying to move to attack Lily, but Stella's sudden distraction threw him off.  The gwyllgi changes to target her, and she leaps back.  As she lands, she realizes she's surrounded by glowing, purple rings.  They suddenly shrink and begin to crush her, binding her arms to her side.  "Mrrrooow...!  Why... does... this... keep... happening...!?" she chokes out as she struggles free.

While she's busy, the gywllgi returns to Gin.  The two exchange cautious blows, neither inflicting a wound.

Lily uses Gin as cover and throws a shadow at the tiger.  It's nearly invisible in the poor light.  It bursts and slams into the tiger, then another blasts it from the other side.  Rand drops down and hacks into him with his axe while he's still reeling from the blast.  A doog leaps over the corpse before Rand can react.  Hector swats it out of the air and whips it with his tail.

Alice and Rhett attack the elder bael together.  Alice summons a wall of dark spheres around it and Rhett weaves between two of them to whack its leg before the spheres crash together.  It hisses and slashes Rhett before he can retreat.  It continues to advance on him before another cluster of orbs smash into him.  Rhett leaps into the air and brings his axe down on the elder bael's head.  "Huh.  I thought it would kill me."  He struggles to dislodge his axe from the exoskeleton.

Gale draws her sword and slowly stalks towards one of the doogs.  She leaps forward with a quick stab.  The doog nips at her arm at the same time, and they both take minor injuries.  Gale knocks him back and lowers her sword.  "Using a sword is ha-a-a-ard!  That's it - Bunny Kick!"  She steps, spins, and slashes all at once, slashing it twice as she twirls by it.  The doog turns and snarls at her.  "H-hey, you're supposed to be dead!"

Isana whirls around and draws the doog's attention as she winks at Gale.  "C'mon, Gale, I believe in you!"

Gale smiles and adjusts her grip.  She steps in with a controlled slash to the doog's neck.  "Ha!  Easy!"

Isana gives her a warm smile.  "I knew you could do it, Honey-Bun-"  A gwyllgi runs out of the darkness and cuts her off.  Isana spins and it slashes at her flapping cape instead of her.  She throws a pair of daggers at it, leaving a small cut between two of its heads.

Quinn, Kurt, and Nevyn start heading southeast, towards the light.  They can see it more clearly, still radiating from the southeast.  They are sure that a human is silhouetted against the light.  They're still too far away to make out clearly.

They hear a scream from much closer, to the northwest.

"Kyaaa!  S-spiderwebs!?"  The woman shifts out of her crow form and retreats, swatting away thick strands of sticky silk.  She focuses intently and sees the trees ahead lined with webs, and several of the giant spiders lie in wait for hapless prey.  From behind, she can hear the wingbeats of several viscous bird laguz chasing her.  A bael leaps out of a tree and knocks her from the sky.  She scrambles back and out of its grasp, leaping back into the air as the bael turns on her.  "Is this how it ends...?  No...  No, I'm so close to the village!  I don't want to...  I'm not gonna die here...!"  She shifts back into her bird form and prepares to fight.

P...? Huh. When I hid the token's name, I guess I didn't delete it all. Works for me, though.

Drake flies over to the gwyllgi and rakes it with its claws, then turns and swats away it with its tail.  It flies through the air and crashes through a tree.  It doesn't get up.  Two mauthe doogs and a hawk all swarm him at once.  He leaps into the air and avoids them.  He fires a burst of flame and engulfs them all.  He swipes at one of the doogs as he lands and kills it.  He tries to drop his tail onto the other doog, but it dodges out of the way.  A pair of pegasus knights fly by and impale the hawk between their lances.  Drake begins panting with the effort of maintaining his dragon form.

Allune takes aim at the arch mogall.  Her first shot slices through one of its tentacles.  It looks at her and summons a cluster of rings.  She flaps her wings and takes to the air, a ring barely clipping her foot.  She fires again from the air and her arrow pierces the eyeball.

Shep moves down to Stella's side. "Are your arms OK?"  Stella lets out a soft growl, but nods.  Shep insists on treating the ligature marks, just to be safe.

Sylvia rifles through her tome and chooses a spell.  She waits until the gwyllgi turns towards Stella again, then raises her hand.  "You're wide open!"  A pillar of fire erupts beneath it, briefly illuminating the surrounding area.  While the mauthe doog is distracted by the burst, Lily takes the chance to down the doog with another pair of shadow orbs.

"You're hurt.  We should help you," Rhett tells Isana.  Isana nods and retreats while he takes her place.  Alice surrounds the gwyllgi with a bundle of spheres.  The crash together as Rhett leaps into the air.  "I'm gonna hit you really hard this time."  He keeps his word and drives his axe into the beast's neck.  The other two heads stop moving as well.

Stella passes by Isana on her way over to Rhett.  Stella helps Rhett pull his axe free, then heals him.  Meanwhile, Isana dances for Shep.  "Hey, Shep, sweetie, can you take a look at this for me?"

"It's not too serious.  Don't worry, this won't take any time at all to patch up."

Gin advances to the south, using Stella's light for guidance.  He leaps at an elder bael that's lying in wait.  "Let's go!" he yells, leaping high and dropping onto its back.  He stabs deep through its exoskeleton.  The bael shakes and tries to throw him off, but Gin manages to keep his mount.  "You're finished!"  He stabs the same spot again and fluid sprays out of the wound.  The bael continues flailing madly, threatening to throw Gin with its death throes.  Rand swoops down and grabs Gin while Hector finishes if off.

Suarrure follows Stella. "Hey, you're not hurt, are you? Is your tail OK?"

Stella hisses again and runs south to help Rand and Gin.  A bael skitters out of the trees and swipes at her with a claw.  She fends it off with her stave in one hand, then quickly strikes the claw back with her axe, then jumps up and off its face, flipping back to safety.

Gale raises her sword and charges at the group of bael to the east.  While they're staring hungrily at the crow, she slashes one in the back.  It turns and swipes blindly, but Gale easily bounces up and out of the way.  "Check this out!"  She kicks off a tree and stabs down as she drops onto the bael's back.  It flails as it collapses as Gale rolls off to safety.  A doog is waiting for her to land.  She screams something incoherent about getting eaten as it leaps for her throat.  She dives to avoid the attack, sloppily and ineffectively flailing her sword at it.

Quinn calls down a thunderbolt on the elder bael.  It clicks at him angrily as he summons a second.  It takes the hit without reacting.  Nevyn moves to guard Quinn's front.  He swings his axe as the bael presses its attack.  He scratches its thick skeleton and swats away its attacks.  It manages to scratch his arm a bit, but his persistent attacks start to crack its shell.

The last bael takes the chance to attack Quinn.  It draws near and feints.  Quinn dodges out of the way, but the spider rears back and hisses, then makes a real attack with a sudden lunge.  Quinn's injured by the attack, but manages to keep his feet and start casting a spell.  A thunderbolt strikes the bael and sends it skittering backwards.  "Just as planned!" Quinn yells, then drops another thunderbolt directly on its back.  It practically explodes.

Kurt slips past, weaving through the spiderwebs, and throws a pair of knives at the spider attacking the crow.  They sink into its joints and slow it to a crawl.  Kurt winces as his curse damages him.  "Ah!?" the crow gasps.

"Finish it!" Kurt orders.

"R-right!"  The crow lands, rears back, and drives her beak into the spider's neck.  "I...  I did it!  Thanks, but...  I'm really sorry, but I really, really don't have time to talk to you!  I need to find someone from the village...!"  She hops back into the air and continues towards the west.

The sound of wingbeats from the east grow louder.  Kurt can make out four jet-black figures with glowing red eyes coming towards them.

There's another flash of light from the southeast.  Kurt can see several golden rings appear on the ground almost directly to his south and monsters begin to materialize from them.  That woman is briefly illuminated again, and Kurt realizes she's riding on... something vaguely horse-like, but definitely not a horse.

Drake roars and grabs the doog.  He throws it up into the air for a passing pegasus knight to pick off.  Allune makes a beeline for him.  Along the way, she pauses on a tree branch to take a shot at a mogall she spotted darting between trees.  She fires just as it emerges, and it falls to the ground dead.

"Allune?" Drake calls out.  "Good timing!  Wait - is Alice with you?  Please tell me she is!"

"Of course!" Allune calls back.  "Who do you think you're talking to?"

"Nothing against you, Allune.  But Mary was freaking out about her earlier.  She didn't really explain why, but she seemed to think something terrible had happened!"

"Alice was acting the same way!  I had to pick her up and forcefully carry her to stop her from running ahead of the others!"

"Hmph..."  Drake grins, exposing his fangs.  "Well, Mary's holding the other side of the village - we're on our own over here for now!  If it's anything like the other times, the monsters should retreat around dawn."

"What about the...  Why are other laguz attacking us!?  I recognize some of them!"

"I...  We don't know!  Focus on the battle for now!"

Shep and Sylvia run forward and target the gwyllgi.  Shep unleashes a burst of light and it nimbly leaps to the side - directly into a pillar of fire Slyvia summons beneath it.  "Damn, that thing's fast!" Shep complains.

Isana pats him on the back.  "Don't worry, dear, we've got this.  Now run along and help our feathered friend, hm?"

Shep frowns, but runs after Allune to obey.  He finds she's only got small scrapes, and healing her takes almost no time.  The gwyllgi tries to run after him, but Isana cuts it off.  It nips at her, scraping her arm a bit.  She stabs at it twice quickly, but it leaps back before she can land the hit.  It stands there, growling at her.

Lily and Rhett run down to help with the bael.  Alice plans to join them, but the sound of wingbeats stops her.  It's not Allune, she went the other direction.  She struggles to make out a black-feathered shape in the darkness.  With a burst of magic, the crow reverts to a human form.  She's got shoulder-length, jet-black hair and brown eyes.  She's dressed similarly to Alice, with nothing more than a simple purple dress with a gold streak.  It cuts off at the waist on one side, and covers down to her knee on the other.  "Alice!"

"Pixie!" Alice calls back.

Pixie dives down and grabs her in a hug.  "Alice!  I'm so, so glad to see you!  When the monsters started attacking I went to look for you, but a bunch of other crows just started attacking me!  And...  And then there was all the flashing, and there was a spiderweb, and a bunch of spiders, but then a guy with a lot of knives saved me!  I was so scared..." so sobs.

Alice pats her back.  "Calm down, Pixie.  Are you OK?"

"Yes..."

"Alright."  Alice pulls out of the hug.  "There's a bunch of pegasus knights protecting the village, and Allune cleared a path.  Just keep going, that's probably the safest."

"Oh...  OK..." Pixie mutters.  "Wait, but...  Are you... not coming...?"

"No.  I've got to help fight."  Alice takes off running, but pauses to wave back at her.  "Don't worry, I'll be fine!"

"I...  What should I do...?" Pixie asks herself.

Lily arrives first and quickly attacks the bael.  "This is the power of Grima!"  She focuses and unleashes a sphere into the ground.  It tosses the spider into the air as it emerges from the ground, then bursts.

"Thanks, Sis!" Rand calls out.  "C'mon, let's take care of those new ones!"  He takes off, leading Stella and Gin.  A gwyllgi leaps out of the darkness and attacks him.  He rolls Hector to the side and hacks at it with his axe.  The pair split apart.  Rand looks to the east and sees the figure of a young woman silhouetted by a golden light.  She's riding on some white-furred creature.

Rhett and Suarrure move down to follow Lily, ready to help.  "It's already dead," Rhett points out.

"Yeah...  She's kinda scary," Suarrure admits.

"You probably think that's sexy," Rhett says matter-of-factly.  "You think a lot of things are sexy.  Especially when it's related to pretty women.  Like Lily."

"Hey!  You should... go over there!" Suarrure suggests.  "With the rest of them!"

"Alright.  Also she might hurt you if you try to flirt right now.  But I doubt she'd kill you."  Rhett heads off after Rand's group.  Suarrure stares after him.  He doesn't want to turn around.  He already knows Lily's standing right behind him, and that there's no way she didn't overhear all of that.  He doesn't want to acknowledge her glare.  He doesn't even notice Alice running up and joining her.

Quinn strikes the elder bael with lightning again and again.  "Why... won't it die...!?" he asks.

Nevyn leaps into the air and chops into the bael's head.  Its legs flail for a moment, then it goes still.  "Its shell is very thick..."

Gale attacks the doog with a quick slash.  It snaps at her and manages to latch onto her thigh.  Gale screams in blind panic.  She blindly slashes and stabs with her sword.  Kurt runs over and throws a knife at it to help.  She manages to stab through its head, then pulls it off of her.  "Are you OK?" Kurt asks.

Gale whimpers.  "Y-yes...  It didn't even break the skin..."

"Good.  Get ready.  More are coming!"  Kurt warns her.  A group of crows come out of the darkness and prepare to attack.
