You say it's thanks to both of their help - and your own natural awesomeness - that you learned so quickly.
"What a charmingly non-committal answer," Waite says.
"You can thank your master for training you, Kira. I'm not going to be offended," Sara assures you.
"Now, then. Time for your final test!" Waite announces. As she stalks over to you, she produces a knife from the aether. Without further ado, she plunges it deep into your chest, then rips it out.
"What th- Kira!" Sara screams. She slugs Waite in the face to knock her out of the way and tries to run to your side.
Waite barely flinches. "Sit." The sand beneath Sara's feet gives way, quickly burying her to the waist. "Now stay, Little Puppy."
In a panic, Sara tries to claw her way out.
Meanwhile, you do your best to stay calm. Your chest is burning with pain. Blood is pouring from the wound. You can barely breathe. You try to focus your magic on the wound, but it's so hard to concentrate.
"Survive, Apprentice," Waite commands.
Right. Survive. You have to survive...
You fight through the pain. And fight. And fight. You manage to cast a few simple healing spells, enough to breathe again. Then you start dealing with the bleeding. With some difficulty, you manage to patch the wound.
Waite, sitting on a chair of sand next to your imprisoned girlfriend, claps her hands slowly and deliberately. "Well done, Apprentice. Well done. You deserve some praise for that."
Catching your breath, you sit up and stare at her. Sara manages to pull herself free, turning on Waite furiously. She looks ready to attack.
(A) "...Let's just go home."
(B) "That was an... interesting test."
(C) "I'm going to kill you!"
(D) "Sara, calm down. We're no match for her."
(E) "Ha! Of course I succeeded. No problem."
(F) "I don't think I want to be your apprentice anymore."
(G) "WHAT. THE. F***. WAS THAT."

You tell Sara to let it go. You wouldn't stand a chance against her, plus it's a good learning experience.
"Exactly, Apprentice! That's a good attitude," Waite says.
Sara bites her tongue, but clearly disapproves.
"We're out of time for now. Let's get you two home," Waite says. "Follow me." You all swim out into the ocean and dive under the water. Sara disappears, but Waite holds you back. "Apprentice. I just want to remind you... you should consider whether or not you trust your little advisers, Bast and Vorvadoss... And their little friends Noden and Hypnos. And all the rest of them."
With that, she drags you back underwater, and you feel yourself being pulled. You reappear in that familiar river. Sara's already clambered up onto the dock and is waiting for you. "Are you two OK? I was starting to get worried..." Right, the time thing... Even those few seconds where Waite was talking to you must've been a few minutes.
"Sorry, just a little mistake with the spell," Waite lies. Waite launches you onto the docks with a burst of water, then blows you both a kiss. "Good night!" she calls before flipping out of the water, diving beneath the surface, and disappearing.
You and Sara make your way home, sneaking in quietly to try to avoid waking the others up. Elise, crashed on the couch, gives you both a glance then rolls back over. Greg and George, both sleeping on a mattress on the floor, don't move. You don't see Daniel anywhere. When you make your way upstairs, you poke your head in on Kumiko and Rita in the main bedroom. They're both seem to be sleeping restlessly, given how much the sheets have been tossed. But, assured they're all safe, you and Sara retire to the guest room.
You spend some time celebrating your betrothal, then get ready to sleep.
Bast calls out to you from your phone. "Hey, Kira! Before you sleep, do you want a summary of everything that happened today?"
(A) Oh, yeah. Sure.
(B) No, I remember it all perfectly.
(C) No just let me sleep.
(D) ...Hey, Bast? Can I trust you...?

You tell Bast you do indeed want a summary.
"Alright, on it! Let me see. You started the day investigating that creepy place where you fought the rat last night, only to find the place was destroyed years ago. Weird," Bast begins.
Vorvadoss shrugs. "Perhaps it's important, perhaps not. I think there are bigger concerns. After your trip there, you found out that the military and Guardians were going to work together and take out the Cobras."
"And you broke in there ahead of them to save Elise!" Bast cheers. "Even though it meant giving Sara a beating. Though... it kinda seemed like she liked it... Is Sara that kind of person?"
Vorvadoss shakes his head under his hood. "She merely respected Kira's conviction to stand for what she believes in."
"Yeah, because you're such a good judge of-"
You tell them you're getting off-topic.
"Right, yeah!" Bast nods. "Next you investigated that weird food the Guardians have been passing out."
"You found records of a similar occurrence happening just outside of town a few decades ago. Unfortunately, there was nothing you could do. Many of the people that had been eating the infected food were too far gone to help, and turned into mindless beasts."
"But at least you managed to save George and Daniel! Even though Kumiko got kidnapped in the confusion..." Bast scratches the back of her head.
"You'll also need to consider the fact the Guardians have been effectively disbanded, as well as the Cobras. Two of the three factions helping to keep order in the city. As well as the main food supply..." Vorvadoss trails off. "Things may get worse soon."
"Or maybe better!" Bast assures you. "Sara mentioned that things aren't as bad in a lot of cities, and a lot of the world is starting to recover. Even get used to life with demons! So maybe you can count on the military restoring order once they get some reinforcements?"
"I doubt it," Vorvadoss says plainly. "Kumiko?"
Bast gasps. "Ah, right! Kumi-Kumi! So she got kidnapped, but you had a lot of trouble finding her... And you were being chased by that monster. By the time you did manage to find her, she was being chased by her own monster! But how'd she get free from the cult, anyway?"
"I doubt we'll like the answer."
"Well, whatever. You managed to take out both the things and everyone came home safe. Oh, and then you got engaged! And in this sort of place? Congratulations, seriously!"
You thank her, then pause. Then you ask what Bast thinks of the rest of her group.
"Huh? Well, Vorvi's... Vorvi. Kind of annoying, but also pretty reliable. Hypnos is totally awkward, but a good guy deep down. Nodens... Have you met Nodens? He's a total blowhard, but he has the right to be. He's wicked strong. And I think that's all of us you've met!"
Hm.
"Now it's our turn to ask a question!" Bast announces.
"Do you remember our discussion about how odd it is that you received two operators?" Vorvadoss asks.
Vaguely, you admit.
"We've done more research and thinking. We do have an idea. That water witch... How much do you trust her?"
(A) Lots.
(B) Well enough.
(C) Kind of.
(D) I don't.
(E) I don't really want to say.

You say that you trust her with your life.
"Huh. That so~?" Bast asks. "Well, it's your funeral! We all agreed that we wouldn't interfere with this sort of thing, so... Good luck with that!"
...
You go to sleep.
As you dream, you once again start to see visions of impending doom.
You see a lion standing outside of a building you immediately recognize: the military base. It seems to be protecting the entrance. A wave of demons comes flooding in, washing over the creature. When the monsters pass, a mountain of corpses is left in its wake. Dozens of monsters, as well as the lion. The number 9:00 appears afterward.
Then you see a turtle walking along the street. Something leaps on its back from nowhere, then jumps off and disappears into the shadows of an alley. A large crack appears in the turtle's shell, and it doesn't move afterward. The number 11:00 appears.
...
You wake up to Sara getting dressed. You quietly enjoy the sight before you realize she's getting into her military uniform. When you shift, she notices you and turns around. She smiles, but seems sad. "...Hey, Kira. I know I was supposed to stay for the weekend, but I have to get back to base. Emergency recall. We suddenly lost contact with a few cities up north. Including some cities that had been deemed secure. No confirmation of casualties or even what might have happened. There's a train carrying supplies arriving today. And to top it all off, Jackson's missing..."
(A) "...Good luck. Go get 'em, Honey."
(B) "Please stay. I need you here. Where we can watch each other."
(C) "You can't go! The base is in danger!"
(D) "I'll miss you."
(E) "Do you really have to go?"
(F) "What happened to Jackson...?"
(G) "...Did you see that dream, too?"

You tell Sara she can't go, the base is in danger.
"Of course it's dangerous, Sweetie. Everywhere is dangerous. But if the base is in danger, that's all the more reason I have to go, right?" Sara points out.
But it's going to be overrun... Like in that dream.
"...Maybe. Maybe not. But people need my help. I have to go."
But the dreams haven't been wrong yet, and...
"Kira. I know this is hard for you. Really, I understand. But... you've always been really respectful about this in the past. And I love that about you." Sara walks over, leans down, and gives you a kiss. "Now. Now that we've gotten engaged, are you going to start being really overprotective?"
(A) Yes.
(B) No.
(C) ...Maybe.
(D) I'm not letting you go today!
(E) Can't you just pretend you didn't get the recall order?
(F) Very much yes, but I'm not going to stop you from going.

"I do." Sara gives you another peck on the cheek, then starts to leave the room. "Thanks for understanding. And... it's nice you know you're worrying about me."
You listen carefully for the sound of the door closing as Sara leaves. She runs to the window and watches as she walks down the sidewalk, out onto the street, and around the corner. Then you realize you're acting like a sad puppy and smile at your own doofiness.
Well... It's 8AM. What to do now?
(A) Check on Kumiko
(B) Check on Rita
(C) Check on Elise
(D) Check on Gregory
(E) Check on George
(F) Check on Daniel
(G) Try to follow Sara
(H) Where'd that one guy go? Bart or whatever.
(I) Look for Waite
(J) Naptime!

You decide to follow after Sara and head to the fort.
When you arrive, you find that they've shored up their defenses quite a bit since you've last been here. Tall, concrete walls with barbed wires and watch towers loaded with lights and guards with rifles. A series of smaller concrete barriers are spread out around the entrances.
A pair of guards aim their rifles at you as you approach. "This is a restricted area! Demon tamers are not allowed. Leave immediately!"
(A) "Oh, sorry. Bye."
(B) "Can you give a message to my fiance?"
(C) "Can I just hand around out here? I heard something bad might happen today."
(D) (Attack)

Oh, these don't bode well. Eithe rof the last two are bad and we can't exactly tell Sara about our magnitude of worry.

Maybe we can watch from a distance and be ready to help. And have someone here for backup.
