So I just want to remind everyone that SMT's a very, very dark series where a lot of horrible stuff happens. So anyone who was under the illusion this would be a happy, cheerful CYOA might want to go ahead and stop reading now. You agree to give the demons a portion of your life.
"Oh, my," the older sister says, subtlety slipping your phone on the table beside her. "How bold." She pounces into your lap, grabbing your shoulders and pinning you against the back of the couch. "I like bold." She lightly licks her lips and leans into your ear. "Just remember... you agreed to this."
The younger sister seizes your ankle. When you try to look, the older flares her wing up, obscuring your view. "My, whatever are you looking at? You'd think a beautiful young lady sitting in your lap would be enough to keep your full attention."
As you stare into her beautiful, brown, doe-eyes, you find yourself completely smitten. A hand lightly caresses your thigh, followed by something wet. Several sharp fang suddenly pierce your leg, and your heart aches, burns with desire to be with this beautiful demon. An incredible searing sensation shoots through your entire body, followed by an intense burning as you start to cry out in heart-broken agony. You're vaguely aware of a dull ache in your leg as you find yourself enthralled by the demon, drawing her into your embrace. Nothing else matters, everything else can wait...
As her charm spell wears off, all the pain comes rushing to the forefront of your mind at once. You feel yourself start to slip into unconsciousness, but the older sister stops you. You can feel her Affection spell flowing through you, healing your wounds. "Oh, no. I won't let you slip away. Not until we're through with you..." The younger sister goes back to work, gnawing at your newly repaired flesh. "Don't overeat," the older sister commands. "We don't want to take advantage of our wonderful host. Besides, you don't want to lose your figure."
After what feels like hours of the cycle repeating, it finally ends. "Hm hm hm... My turn," the older sister reminds you. When the two have had their fill, they hover in the air in front of you. "Sister... I feel so much better!" the younger announces.
"Thank you," the older tells you. "I truly am grateful to you for helping my sister. Well... I suppose a deal's a deal. We're the Femme sisters, Lilim White and Black. Take good care of us."
The two disappear in a flash of light, and your phone flashes briefly. You reach out to grab it, but end up falling over. In the morning, you slowly prop yourself up. A searing pain tears up your legs when you try to stand, and memories of the night before flash through your head. You reach for your phone, and quickly check your demon stock. "Lilim W" and "Lilim B" are clearly displayed.
Bast cuts in, forcing her way onto the screen. "Man, that looked like a fun night! Why didn't you invite me?"
"Bast. Shut up." Vorvadoss seems to be in a particularly foul mood.
"But Vorvi-"
"Bast. Shut up. Kira, you're a grade-A idiot. You think healing magic's something you can just trifle with like that?"
"But Vorvi, she didn't know what th-"
"I don't care, Bast! Kira, it's going to take a long time before your legs adjust to all that new tissue. Weeks. Weeks you're stuck in here barely able to walk instead of out training."
"Let it go, Vorvi," Bast orders.
"...Fine. It's her loss, not ours."
You struggle to walk into the kitchen, staggering as you do so. You manage to stay standing long enough to throw together a simple meal. Vorvadoss is right, you realize. You aren't in any shape to leave the house.
Over the next three weeks, you spend most of your time doing stretches and simple exercises, trying to recover your strength. Sara visits a few times, when she manages to get some time off. You explain what happened to your legs, and she's torn between anger - she meant it when she told you not to let yourself get injured - and sympathy.
Sara herself always seems tired. "We're winning the fight, I think. Most of the rioting and looting's died down. The demons are... still present, but most of the civilians have been evacuated. Keeping the enemy's numbers down is a constant job, though. Demons flood out of any Demon Summoning Program enabled device that humans have lost control over, and tracking them down's a real hassle. But we won't give up! Sooner or later, we'll come out on top. Beat back the demons, start patching things up...!"
You don't tell Sara about the strange dream you're still having every night. The dark-haired woman with the pale skin and bulging eyes. Every night, it seems like she's getting a bit closer, but... you don't know what you can do about it. Besides, it's just a dream. ...Right?
The few times that demons do come knocking, you mostly rely on your demons to send them packing. You're starting to feel a bit closer to them. The Lilim sisters even apologize to you, eventually. They explain that they simply hadn't eaten in weeks - apparently, a few demons had been around since before the catastrophe - and that they'd never have to do it again ("Unless you're into that..."). Now, they can subsist entire off something they call magnetite, which Vorvadoss explains you accumulate naturally from the environment, and he turns into something your demons can use.
Twenty-two days after the initial catastrophe, your legs are healed enough to move normally. Almost normally, at least. Your food supplies are almost depleted, and Sara hasn't visited in a few days. You decide to head out the next morning... End of Tutorilouge

The night before you plan to set out, the dark-haired woman isn't the first in your dreams for once.
First, you dream of a giant snake and a bull. The snake strikes at the bull again and again, but the bull keeps avoiding a direct hit. The bull tries to trample the snake, and the snake takes advantage of the opening. The snake coils around the bull's neck, striking several times. The bull flails about, struggling to throw the snake off. Finally, the snake goes flying, landing stunned several feet away. The bull tries to charge, but collapses just ahead of the snake. The snake rises, and turns to leave. The bull suddenly reclaims his feet, goring the snake in the back. The two collapse to the ground together, dead. The number 10 flashes in your vision.
In your second dream, a bat is hanging on the ceiling in a library. A book sits open on a table beneath it. Suddenly, the book slams shut. Tendrils begin to snake their way through the bookshelves, grabbing the bat and flinging it to the ground. Several more grab the stunned bat, pulling it into the shadows. The number 15 flashes in your vision.
In your third dream, some kind of strange... raccoon-thing is walking towards a tall building. A large piece of debris falls in front of the entrance. The raccoon-thing runs forward, trying to drag the debris away from the door. A blast rocks the ground, and more debris comes tumbling down. The raccoon-thing tries to dodge, but can't avoid all the rubble. The number 16 flashes in your vision.
Finally, the woman with dark hair makes her nightly visit. "Enjoying the visions?" she asks, cracking her disgusting smile. You still aren't sure why her grin's so unsettling, but it... seems full of malicious intent. You're completely sure she's been getting closer... You wake up early, 7:30. It takes you about 30 minutes to prepare. You throw on your clothes, make sure your phone's charged, make a meal of the few scraps of food you have left.
"Finally going to get back out there, huh?" Bast asks happily.
"It's about time," Vorvadoss adds.
"So, we've got to find some food, huh?" Bast asks. "Yeah, that's pretty important for you humans."
"It wouldn't hurt if we could find this Sara of yours, either."
"Oh, Vorvi, do I detect concern?"
"Of course, Bast. I want humanity to succeed as much as you. And every human lost is a step towards their defeat. Then you've got to think about the effects Sara's death would have on Kira's mental state, and therefore her combat potential..."
"OK, Vorvi. You really need to learn to stop your thoughts about two sentences earlier." About phases
The majority of Waking Dream will be spent cycling between four phases. Battle, Boss, Free, and Investigation. During Investigation Phases, you have a set goal, and a set time limit. If you reach the goal before the time limit, you may find unexpected rewards, or just have more time for free phases. You'll vote on places to go one at a time. Sometimes, having a certain demon (or class of demon) in your stock (not necessarily active) will give you an advantage. If people you know are at a location, you'll be notified. People you've yet to meet are marked as ???.
About active demons
You have two slots for active demons. They might participate in events, but they're ultimately cosmetic. Choose a site to investigate.
(A) Strip Mall (???) (B) Hospital (???) (C) City Hall (???) (D) University (???) (E) Docks
And for fun, you can pick your active demons. In case you didn't read above, they don't really affect anything. They just join in chatting and whatnot. Pick 2.

The hospital's the place to go when you need help, right? Besides, maybe you can find someone to double-check your legs, make sure everything's set.
You're surprised with how much the town's changed in the few days you've been stuck at home. There are hardly any people running about. The streets are choked with abandoned cars and random detritus. A handful of demons roam the streets, feeding on the disturbingly plentiful corpses lining the street. A few make to attack you, but back off when they realize you won't be an easy meal.
When you finally make it to a major street, you find it a sharp contrast to the smaller roads you'd been travelling before. There's still plenty of litter, but the major obstructions have been cleaned. No cars block the way, no large pieces of rubble, no corpses. The handful of demons floating around seem to be moving with purpose, and they don't seem particularly interested in you, or the other handful of tamers strolling along the street.
You make it to the hospital without much difficulty. You find a crude, chain-link fence erected around it. A handful of tough-looking tamers patrol the interior of the fence, glaring at you as you pass by. The front gate is guarded by a pair of tamers in ill-fitting military-style helmets. You start to cautiously approach the, but something behind their little guard post catches your eye. Another group of 6 tamers is assembled in the yard. One of them, a blond young man, seems to be the leader. He's addressing the others.
"Alright, let's run over this one last time. Those Guardian idiots are going to be passing out food... where, Ian?"
One of the others snaps to attention. "City hall! Ten o'clock!"
"Did I ask you for the time!?" the leader barks. "Jeffrey! Describe our formation!"
"Sir!" one of the others answers. "You'll take point and draw the attention of their bodyguards, then we rush in and take out their non-tamers! You buy us time to escape, and... uh... you handle the rest, sir?"
"Hm. Very good," the leader says with a slight smile. He notices you, and suddenly his demeanor changes. "Hey, who're you supposed to be? Spyin' on us, are you? Get out of here!"
"This is a place of mercy," Angel begins. "Sworn to accept all-"
"Not anymore, demon! This is Cobra territory! Now beat it before I beat you!"
"What a... 'charming' young man," Lilim White says. "You catch more flies with honey!" she calls to the man.
...Considering their numbers, you decide not to linger. The current time is 8:30. Apparently food's being passed out at City Hall at 10. That leaves you an hour or so to explore town, see what's changed, maybe even find Sara...

You decide the next stop is the strip mall. If you're looking for people, that's probably the smart place to start. Maybe you'll even find something useful? Though it's probably been picked clean...
When you arrive at the strip mall, you find about what you expected. Most of the stores are smashed up, glass shards and litter line the street. A casual glance through the busted windows tells you there's not much point going inside.
A few tamers line the streets. A few are chatting with each other about their demons. Some are comparing battle strategies, talking about demons they've encountered.
"Man, I saw this one demon... it was... awful. This... tall guy with tentacles shooting out of his back, he was hiding in this dark alley. He grabbed me, tried to drag me into that alley. Fortunately, I had my demons out... Pyro Jack hit him with an Agi spell. He didn't seem to like that much, let me go and just kinda... disappeared." One of the men says.
"That's awful!" a woman standing nearby says. "I dunno what I'd do if I ran into a demon like that."
Some are having... less helpful discussions. "My pixie's so cute! Definitely in the top percentage of pixies."
"Not as cute as my Garm, though! I even taught him how to sit, speak, and shake!"
"My Nekomata's cuter, though! She's got all the cute of a cat, plus the body of a woman!" An awkward silence falls over the group.
"Hey, what about us?" Lilim White asks. "I'm cuter than all their demons put together, right?"
"Your charm's nothing but a devious trap, Hellspawn. Only a fool would consider you 'cute,'" Angel says.
"You're just jealous," Lilim White teases.
You break up their argument before it becomes more heated.
You notice a young woman emerge from one of the ruined buildings. A grocery store, if you remember correctly - the sign's long since destroyed. The woman's in her upper teens, if you had to guess, and her features clearly show some kind of Asian descent. Black, straight hair, brown eyes, and a bit on the tall side for her age. She's wearing some kind of simple uniform. It's some kind of dress-looking thing, kind of like a combination of a tank top and a skirt... A tennis outfit, you think. She seems concerned as she exits the store.
"No food here, either... And Mom and Dad are depending on me. OK, think. Where's somewhere that has food that other people might not have thought of? Maybe I could could get lucky and find some junk food if I dug around a gas station... or maybe a drug store? Either way, I'd probably have more luck on the outskirts of town..." She's muttering to herself.
A burly man strolls up, clearly trying to act cool - and trying way too hard, in your opinion. "Hey, cutie, what's the matter? Lookin' for something?"
"Hm? Oh... Food, obviously. What else would I be in a grocery store for?" the girl challenges him.
"Er... I dunno, they got a pharmacy, drugs and bandaids... Uh... Water filters, cookware, could be useful. Maybe they even got like a forklift or somethin', if you needed to transport stuff," the man manages to answer.
"That's... fair enough. But, no, definitely food," the girl responds. "If you'll excuse me, I'm in a bit of a hurry."
"What's the rush, sweetheart? Why don't you stay a while? 'sides, a little thing like you'd get eaten alive out here," the man steps a bit closer.
"I can take care of myself fine," the girl assures him. "Do you mind stepping out of my way?"
"C'mo-o-o-o-on," the man argues.
"Maybe I wasn't clear enough," the girl says. She flips out her phone - a high-end smartphone - and punches a few buttons. A large, green bear carrying a mace - why does a bear need a mace? - appears behind her. You pull up your Demon Summoning App, and it tells you it's name is Genma Jambavan. "Move out of my way, or I'll move you out of my way. Or... have him move you, but you get the idea."
"Hey, now, I don't think you want to pick a fight with me," the man says. He pulls out his own phone and starts to punch some buttons.
You casually stroll over and ask if there's a problem.
"Yeah, this guy won't leave me alone," the girl explains. "And I really need to get back to scavenging if I don't want to starve to death. Oh, wow, I never thought I'd be saying that..."
"I'm just tryin' to have a little fun," the man complains.
"You're coming on too strong, Honey," Lilim White tells him. "How about I give you a few pointers, hm? A... private lesson on the way to a girl's heart? I could even get my sister to help out..." She gives him a seductive stare.
"W-well... Wait, you serious?" the man asks. He shakes his head. "Wait, no, I'm already a master at this!"
You call Lilim Black, and she appears next to her sister. "Oh, come now. We can all use a good tip now and again. Don't be such a tease."
"C'mon," Lilim White orders, beckoning the man towards the ruined grocery store. Her sister just giggles, flying ahead and holding open a door to some small closet.
The man hesitates, then stumbles after the pair. Angel just shakes her head. "Degenerates, all of them. But I suppose even that dirty pair have their uses."
"...That's absolutely disgusting," the girl tells you, looking on as the man slips into the room. Lilim Black follows him, closing the door. "But, thanks, I guess."
You tell the girl you overheard she was looking for food.
"Huh? Oh... yeah. Um... I don't suppose you have any ideas, do you?"
You explain that you overheard some people called the "Guardians" would be passing out food at 10 by City Hall.
"The Guardians? I've heard of them... They're going around, passing out food, medical supplies, and the like. They started as a group of tamers that were trying to keep tamers and non-tamers from tearing each other apart, I think? Honestly, this seems a bit too good to be true. I don't really get their motives."
You ask what the girl plans to do.
"Oh... well, I don't have any better ideas, I guess. So I'll check this out. 10, right? Until then... hm..."
Since she doesn't have anything better to do, and you're going to the same place, you suggest you could travel together. You explain that you've been in hiding the last few days, and that you'd really love someone to exposition at you.
"Huh? Well, my family and I've been holed up, too, so I don't know that much. But I've been out searching since yesterday, though, so I guess I know a bit more than you." She crosses her arms, lost in thought. "OK, I guess I can stick with you for a bit, tell you some of the stuff I've figured out. As thanks for taking care of that creep."
As if on cue, the door to the closet slams open. The Lilim sisters hover out casually. The man doesn't come with them, and Lilim White closes the door behind her. Lilim Black disappears back into your phone. Lilim White gives you a familiar malicious smile. "He won't be bother anyone for a while," she tells you.
"No details, please," the girl commands. "Oh... Right. My name's Kumiko. Let's get out of here." It's 9:00. You have one hour left to explore.

The information on the discussion page has been updated.
Where better to get some information than the library? You send Lilim White back to storage and call out Pixie.
"The University? I... don't know that we'll actually find anything useful there, but whatever," Kumiko tells you. "Anyway, what I've found out so far... Like I said, it's not much. Most of the non-tamers have left the city, but a few are still around. Um... Most are either in this place called the Demon Exclusion Zone, protected by the military, or in this place called the Farm. I... don't know what it is, but it sounds kind of sinister, y'know? It's run by some guys that call themselves the Guardians, I think. And there's one more group, the Cobras. They're holed up in the hospital... and I hear you don't want to mess with them."
You ask Kumiko a few more questions, but she doesn't seem to know all that much more than you. You ask if she's seen anyone that looks like Sara, but she can't remember seeing anyone like that.
When you reach the University, you aren't quite sure where to go. You wander around randomly for a bit. The cafeteria's smashed and empty. Most of the other buildings are mostly intact, though you can spot a few smashed vending machines around the campus. There aren't many humans around, though there's signs people had been using some of the buildings before - smashed barricades in front of some of the dorms. There aren't many demons either. It seems they've moved on after whatever bloody business went on in the previous days.
As you pass the library, you notice a young woman cowering in the doorway. When she realizes you see her, she draws back inside. Kumiko looks at you, unsure what to do. "Maybe we should get out of here? I don't like being watched..."
Pixie floats over to the door, knocking gently. The girl hesitantly opens the door. "Um... Hel-hello?" she asks.
"Hi! I'm Fairy Pixie. What's your name?"
"I'm... um... Rita. Are you... um... friendly?"
"Oh, of course! Well, unless my master tells me to kill you..." Pixie answers cheerfully. The girl recoils a bit. "But don't worry, my master's really friendly, too!"
"Oh... is that so?" Rita asks. She steps out of the doorway and onto the stairs. "Um... Miss? I'm sorry to ask, but... can you help me?" Now that she's in the open, you get a better look at her. She's a bit over five feet tall, maybe 2 or 3 years younger than Kumiko. Her hair's brown, shoulder-length. Green eyes, with pink glasses. Her outfit's what stands out, though. It's a lavender... blouse-skirt thing with a red sash tied in a neat bow, and a set of white leggings. The whole outfit obviously was very pretty, once, but now it's dirtied and torn in a few places, revealing a dark undershirt.
"Help her?" Kumiko asks. "Well... no harm hearing her out, I guess, but keep your guard up. This could be a trap."
"T-trap!?" Rita asks, holding up her hands. "No, I'd never do something like that...! Um... Sorry... My phone's dead, see? And I'm out of spare batteries, and... um... I can't summon demons or use the Harmonizer app, so I'd really appreciate it if you could... um..." She spits the last few lines out with great speed, without breathing, clearly unsure what exactly she wants you to do.
"...A tamer with a dead phone's pretty much helpless," Kumiko says. You aren't sure whether or not she meant for that to sound threatening...
You show Rita your hand-cranked charger and her eyes light up. "What's that...? Oh! A... hand-charger? I couldn't just take something like that from you! A-and I don't really have anything worth trading..."
"I... think Kira meant you could come with us for a while, use it while we walk?" Kumiko says.
"O-oh! Um... I guess that's OK, as long as you're sure I won't be a bother," Rita mumbles.
You assure her it's not a problem.
Angel gives you a smile. "It is the duty of the strong to aid the defenseless."
"U-um... So I just... hook my phone up like this?" Rita asks, struggling to connect the charger. "Oh! I see. And then I... turn this? OK, easy enough!" She starts to enthusiastically spin the charger. "Alright, let's... oof... lead the way! ...Oh! Um... Sorry, I never asked your names..."
"I'm... Kumiko," Kumiko says hesitantly.
You tell her your name.
"OK. Kumiko... and Miss Kira. Thank you, so much." It's now 9:30. You have time to check out one area before heading to City Hall. Unless you want to get there early...

No sense risking being late. You head over to City Hall, your new charges in tow. Rita spends the walk fervently cranking on your charger.
When you arrive, you find several people flitting about chaotically. No one really acknowledges your presence, and they all seem pretty busy. One, standing just in front of the steps, seems to be in charge. Unsure what else to do, you head over and talk to him.
He's a big ol' burly-looking fella, probably around your age, wearing jeans and a stained white T-shirt. He's got brown hair in a simple cut hidden beneath a baseball cap, and brown eyes. He's in the middle of addressing a small group of tamers. "Alright, this buildin's clear, no ambushes there... uh... wharelse... Right, ya'll sweep the surroundin' streets. I wanna know what's what fer 3 blocks, alright?"
"3 blocks may be a bit much, considering the time limit..." one points out.
"Ya'll can do it, I know it. 'sides, ain't ya'll got a few av-an-type demons witcha?" the leader says.
"...Avians? Right! That should speed things up a bit." The tamers split up, a few carried by small... skull-bird things. Itsumade, according to your Summoning App.
The leader-guy dusts his hands as you approach. "Well, hey, ya'll. Whatcha need?"
You explain that you heard some group would be passing out food at City Hall around 10. He looks incredibly surprised. Distressed, even. "Uh... and where'd ya'll hear that?"
You explain that you overheard it from some guy at the hospital. The leader takes his hat off, and slams it on the ground. "Aw, horse-" he glances at Rita, who had jumped back in surprise "-feathers. That ain't good. No one weren't supposed ta hear 'bout that 'til we was already setup at 10." At this point, he seems to be talking to himself more than you. "Real simple mission, weren't it? 'Who wants ta lead this 'un?' 'Oh, I do, I do!' Well, great work, George, ya dun goofed it up, and it ain't even started proper!"
"Wait, people weren't supposed to know?" Kumiko asks, glancing at you.
"We've already had our li'l lunch lines attacked by them damn snakes-in-the-grass three times this week!" George explains.
"Attacking those fulfilling the Lord's will to help the less fortunate... How disgusting," Angel mutters.
"A-attacked you? But... but you were passing out food! All they had to do was ask..." Rita stutters.
"Yeah, but 'parently them Cobras don't like to swalla their pride or some fool notion. Anyway, this time, we were gonna get setup first, then have a buncha people throughout the city tellin' people where to go startin' at 10. Y'know, instead o' makin' the announcement ahead o' time. That way, them Cobras wouldn't have time to assemble no fightin' force 'fore we were dun and gone."
"...So, does this mean you're going to have to cancel things?" Kumiko asks. "I knew this was too good to be true..."
"...Naw," George says. "Screw that. We already cancelled three trips, we can't give up another. If them bastards try 'n' mess with us, we'll give 'em a beatin' and send 'em cryin' to their mommy." He grabs a pair of tamers. "Ya'll two head back to base, tell 'em what we found out, ask fer reinforcements."
"So, we'll be able to get food after all?" Kumiko asks, clearly trying to hold back her excitement.
"Yup! I ain't gonna let nothin' stop us. Sorry, but we're still gettin' setup, and now we got that much more ta get ready. Ya'll mind comin' back 'round 10?" George asks.
"Hey, you talk funny, Mister!" Pixie says.
