Hello. I've never touched a Fire Emblem game before. I've decided to change that. A bit of background if you're interested. SRPGs have always been a genre I'd play, but never really like (paradoxical as that is). The only one I've ever played to completion was Pokemon Conquest, but that's probably due to "Pokemon" being in the name more than anything else. I tried a bit of the first GBA Advance Wars a long time ago, and I was immediately turned off by how hard it was (I was younger). I played the first arc of Final Fantasy Tactics before I put it down and never got the motivation to pick it up again, and I probably got to the same point in FFT:A2. The biggest turn off was the skills system. All in all...I guess I don't really like SRPGs, but I like chess, so maybe that's just because I haven't played the right one. No spoilers please. I already know most of the massive ones anyways. Also, I don't know exactly what format I'm going to be doing this in. I'm obviously not going to play this exclusively next to my computer where I note down everything that goes through my head so...we'll see. I'll make sure I comment on big events though. Also, I'm probably going to err on the side of "facetious" because it's funnier to dislike something. Don't take it personally if I insult your waifu kay? Anyways, as popular as this newest Fire Emblem is, I thought I'd give it a try. Let's begin.
...No easy? Normal mode it is. Oh yes, Casual please. It's the only reason I'm playing this game. Hm...male Robin is everywhere, I'll use female. Oh, so there's normal, loli, and milf modes for her. I'll go normal. Normal eyed, squinty eyed, tired eyes, fierce eyed, ...crowned? Fierce looks best Hair styles...the one in Sm4sh, Male Robin's hair, pony tail, Xion's hair, spiky mess. Spiky mess please. And of course they'd put orange dead last for hair colour. ...None of these voices except the first suit how she looks at all. The deeper one doesn't even work for the older looking Robin. Anyways, voice 1. Her name is Robin. 7/27. Let's go high Luck, low HP. Alright all set, let's play.

Normal mode is easy mode. I'm completely serious. Hard mode is normal mode. Also, the best husband for FeMU is Chrom. The pairing actually improves the story(Not kidding. It gives you extra scenes and dialogue and everything) and it is the only pairing that gives FeMU two children, easily making it the best gameplay wise.
I won't give any spoilers don't worry, and the decision is up to you of course, but your experience of Awakening will be a hundred times better if you pair FeMU and Chrom. And if you get the Future Past DLC, you'll get even more out of the experience.

Premonition: Invisible Ties
Opening Cinematic! ...and it's the sm4sh trailer but for reals and we have Jafar instead of Captain Falcon. Cool.
Hoo boy! The tutorial level! I really do hope this is literally a part of the final battle.
Ok...so it looks like I have 30 silver swords to use, while the Falchion has infinite uses. And the Thoron book has a countdown. Robin's durability sm4sh gimmick makes sense! The battle cut scenes are cool...hopefully they don't get tedious.
So he's not gonna attack me, I'll just kill him...get to the next cinematic and...Robin impales Chrom with lightning. Awesome. Please let Chrom getting beaten up be a running gag. Spoilers have kind of ruined this part though, sadly.
Prologue
We wake up in field with convenient amnesia syndrome. Robin has amnesia but dreams that she's best buddies with a guy she doesn't know, and then wakes up not knowing anything except his name. Kinda hot? Not really.
...wait, Chrom's a SHEPHERD? Wait no, he's a lord. Why is a lord herding sheep? Why does "lord herding sheep" sound biblical? Why am I reading so much into this?
Hello Spoc- I mean Frederick. Hello McCo- I mean Lissa. The freudian trio lives! And phew, Lissa is Chrom's sister. Shipping averted.
The random nearby town gets set on a convenient fire. Oh noes! Our dashing heroes are off to save it! And Robin reveals her superpower: User Interface Vision!
I really like the idea that Frederick brought a lance and fully armed horse out to herd sheep. He is stupidly OP. That probably means I should grind the others up instead of relying on him, right? I'll get him to collect sparklies while I thunder people's faces. The ally system is a nice touch though. Move Lissa to a space next to where Chrom would be so he gets healed before attacking. Neat. The immediate counter-attack mechanic is interesting too, but I'm probably not going to see the depth of it until later.
Finish up that battle quickly and we resume. Lissa is being "cute". Frederick is being "stoic". Ylisse, Plegia, fantasy place names are always entertaining. Anyways, moving on.

You can use Frederick, but use the other characters more, as they need the Exp badly. Frederick is what FE fans call a Jeigan, named from the advisor in Marth's games. He starts off OP and good, but he's useless around mid-game.
He still makes a good father though. Like Neo said, get the DLC.

Chapter 1: Unwelcome Change
Alright, so I'm at the world map for the first time. I'm just going to take a moment to say that the chibi sprites of everyone are adorable.
Time for a cinematic. Lissa's voice does not suit her...is this just a dubbing thing? I suppose I expect those squeaky anime girl voices too much from these girls.
Lol bear meat. No Lissa, the food chain has humans above bears.
Awesome, portal in the sky that poops peop- zombies. There are zombies here. Gotcha.
Quite an entrance indeed Lucina. But that voice could NOT be mistaken for-...oh what am I saying, a man could definitely sound like that in anime.
Hi Sully. Virion, you're about 20 years too young for that voice. Good to see that these characters are stereotypes too. Lol @ Ruffles. And of course Virion doesn't know her name...
I like this leveling system. It is so much smoother than FFT.
In other news, I almost got Lissa killed...it's cool though that somebody next to her can counterattack for her since she can't.
Easing into the setting very nicely. I'm kind of wondering how these cut scenes would go if I did get Lissa killed and it was permanent.
And now we've unlocked support conversations. Wonderful, from what I hear this is the real part of the game. Looking forward to it.

Chapter 2: Shepherds
Alright, a few more characters. I literally facepalmed when Sumia tripped in awe of Chrom's manliness, but besides her, nothing to complain about. The personalities definitely help them all have a unique identity right off the bat. On that note, Kellam's intro was a nice touch.
Rout the Enemy!
Weapon triangle. Gotcha. But Neo's right, this is super easy mode so far. Ah well, now I can put more effort into commentary.
I'm really hoping that these character flaws get sorted out over the course of the game. Fulfill my expectations so-called-waifu-simulator!
Chapter 3: The Longfort
And here it is. The moment that cripples me with indecision in every RPG. Having to pick a party. Sorry Sully, you're the odd one out. Not only are you forgettable, you're redundant with Frederick around.
Chrom, you are going to chop of the Pegasus's wing like that.
AHAHA and of course, the very first thing I do after that "bonus damage" tutorial is get Sumia one-shot by an archer...oops. I swear it wasn't intentional. I'll just carry on...
...what's the deal with Kellam? Did everyone seriously not seem him? WE FOUGHT AROUND HIM! On an unrelated note, I totally thought the door keys were for teh front gate and wasted a few rounds figuring out what do do here...
And I killed the guy with the shield before beating everyone else...great, wasted XP.

Paralogue 1: The Farfort
First, I have never heard the word "paralogue" before. Does it mean "more engaging story"? Because that's what I'm seeing. Go Donnel. I'm going to use this to level Sumia some since she didn't get anything from the last battle.
Pft, I am TRYING to have Donnel get some hits in but Frederik or Chrom one-shots everyone...guess I gotta let him take a hit. Eventually I got both him and Sumia to level up. Yay.
The durability on my healing staff is getting a bit too low for comfort. But on the bright side, Lissa is my highest level character. Funnily enough, I'm almost ignoring Robin since everyone seems better than her in one way or another.
Anyways, according to this support conversation, Frederick carries around naked pictures of Chrom. Why am I not surprised?

HD... Robin is literally the best character in the game. By miles. He/she is a thousand times better than Frederick will ever be, and he/she is much easier to raise in the early chapters.
Robin gets access to all classes and weapons, save for only the Villager class and Lord Tree and enemy classes, and has the best growth rates in the game. Only Donnel surpasses Robin in that category, and only because of Aptitude.
And please, PLEASE, for the love of all that is good, tell me you aren't pairing Chrom and Sumia. Their supports are legitimately terrible, and you're going to miss out on a lot by not pairing Robin and Chrom.
The scene in Chapter 21 alone is well worth it.

paralogue (plural paralogues) (genetics) either of a pair of genes that derives from the same ancestral gene. (genomics) a pair of genes that derives from the same ancestral gene and now reside at different locations within the same genome.
That's what I got.
And you didn't pick an especially good asset/flaw combo, so that's part of why Robin doesn't seem too good. And you can buy more healing staffs (and other weapons and items), so you should probably do that.
And I thought you had Sumia die to an archer?

The only bad thing about ChromXSumia is the S-Support IMO, which is why I usually wait for the better Chapter 11 convo.

The only bad thing about ChromXSumia is the S-Support IMO, which is why I usually wait for the better Chapter 11 convo. I'll agree that the Chapter 11 convo is decent, but the rest of the convos are incredibly pointless, and this is in a game of pointless supports. At least the RobinxChrom supports are entertaining. The Chapter 11 convo was better in the JPN version anyway. Since he's playing on Normal, he doesn't need gameplay stuff, though two children for Robin would help since he's essentially doing a Nuzlocke. But let's be honest here. Do you really think he's going to do another PT? Probably not. So he should try and get as much out of the story as he possibly can, and the game is so much better with Robin as Chrom's wife. It actually makes some sense. I guarantee you HD will rate the game better if he pairs Robin and Chrom, instead of stupid, devious Sumia. The only good thing about her is her bonus convo with Miriel in the Harvest DLC, and let's be honest, he's probably not gonna play that.

Chapter 4: Two Falchions
Alright, last one tonight. Oh hey, Annas have popped up in places. That solves my healing staff problem. On the other hand I accidentally unequipped everyone so I hope I managed to redistribute everything correctly.
To the place used for the FE Sm4sh stage! Raimi is going to summon the khan. I really hope it's Benedict Cumberbatch.
...damn, not even close. Polar opposite in fact.
Alright, crunch time. Party selection. I have to decide if I'm going to go with my strongest guys, or train up a balanced team, or pick my favourites. I'm only allowed six so now is a good time to decide my core team I guess. Chrom, Robin, and Lissa are no brainers. Frederick is too OP for my tastes, so I'll go with Sully for lances. I have to pick Virion over Muriel for more range since Robin can cover magic. And so my last pick is Vaike because I need an axe person.
On the other hand, since this is easy mode I should play for maximum Waifu Simulation, so I'm taking Muriel, Sumia, and Sully. Let's go!
Cutscene time. Chrom used Great Aether! It's not very effective. Lucina used Great Aether! She kept going and crashed!
Sweet, no archers. Sumia can do stuff! Also, I the x2 attack thing seems rather random...I'm sure they'll explain it in time, right?
Robin: Stay Calm. *Sully takes axe to face*
And that showdown with "Marth" was decidedly anti climactic. Robin double Fireball OP.
West-Khan! ...Darn, still not Cumberbatch.
LissaXLucina OT...oh wait darn that's incest.
Hi Lon'qu. I hope you're really good with that sword, otherwise you're redundant with Chrom. And Ricken makes me wonder why there was that Donnel side quest, and why Chrom has a bias towards kids with pot-hats rather than mage caps.
Alright, just about done, but first...let's do the relationship stuff. Sully and Chrom went up to C. Vaike and Chrom are getting along just fine. Actually, why don't I document the supports as I go along?
Chrom: Lissa - C Sully - C Frederick - C Vaike - C
Robin: Lissa - C

And I thought you had Sumia die to an archer? There's a reason I'm on casual. I'd have lost Lissa, Sumia, and Vaike by now if I was playing for keeps. Basically, I'm just gonna play the way I play. I don't particularly care about pairings or skills or anything like that until the game makes me care about them, so unfortunately the pair discussion is falling on deaf ears. I'm not going to force a pairing to happen unless I'm given a reason in game to do so, whether it be through gameplay, or if I start getting attached to people in the story. If ChromXRobin happens then it happens. If not, then it doesn't.

Please, for the love of my sanity, pair Chrom with Robin. I'm begging you.

If your speed stat is 5+ more than the enemy's, then you'll double them, and vice versa.
...Also, I never really felt like marrying either Chrom or Lucina added to the story. Sure, it changed s***, but I didn't feel it added value.
