Spellcast

Using a 0-cost spell (when not at full) or a 1-cost spell (when full) is our stick-beat/basic attack, X.

Lotus spreads a palm out toward the surviving Grunt and causes small spheres of darkness to quickly orbit around before crashing into him. The Grunt swings at Fjord, but he uses his magic to block most of the blow before sending a blast of freezing air into the Grunt. The battle continues on this way for a short while until the enemy is defeated.

Grunt attacks! Lotus receives 1 damage.

Grunt attacks! Fjord receives 1 damage.

Fjord casts Frozen Wind! Grunt receives 2 damage. Grunt dies.

The two stand there, breathing a bit heavy after the scuffle. Fjord looks up and nods to Lotus. "Not bad. Not bad at all. That was some impressive dancing."

"Now is not the time for flattery. We must decide our next move."

"Hey, didn't they say something about executing all the dancers? There's more of you?"

The others are in trouble. I...Well, I suppose for now I just have to move forward and find out where I am.

"Let's keep moving."

Fjord nods. "Right."

The two of them continue on through the boat, moving quickly. They find themselves in an extension of the jail. The other dancers from the bar are being taken from their cells in chains. These pirates look stronger than the last. They turn and notice the two and battle quickly ensues.

Lotus quickly steps back, behind Fjord while the Pirates move in to attack him. One casts a spell and sends a beam of water cascading toward Fjord, but he creates a shield of ice and blocks it. The other Pirate swings his sword into Fjord and shatters the ice shield, damaging him a bit before Fjord regains his composure and throws an ice spear into the attacking Pirate.

Lotus takes this chance to strike back, splitting into multiple copies of herself. They all dash around, slashing at the enemy Pirates with their shadow daggers and doing a number on them. They seem pretty weak now, but continue to attack Fjord. He keeps them busy with another Ice Spear.

Lotus switches to the back row.

Lotus steps toward the other dancer. She seems to almost flinch before Lotus' arms envelop her. The hug is quick and short and she then pulls back, handing the keys to her. Without a word, Lotus quickly continues to move. Fjord follows behind, not asking any questions.

The two of them continue onward and soon reach the deck of the ship. They can hear talking. It seems a conversation is going on already. The bar owner and the captain of the ship are speaking with one another. "So...I gave you what you wanted. Where's my cash?"

The captain lets out a cold laugh. "Heh...You stupid fool. Are you truly so blind with greed that you would climb aboard my ship and demand gold?"

"What are you talking about!? Give it to me!"

"Whatever made you think I had that kind of money in the first place? Even if you didn't come here, I'd have to dispose of you sooner or later." He looks over to two pirates nearby. "End him."

"Wh-What!? You can't do this to me!"

"You are a filthy and cowardly man. You won't be missed by anyone."

"NO! I HAVE WORKED SO HARD TO GET HERE! I'VE STEPPED ON SO MANY PEOPLE, I-"

"Sir!" One of the Pirates points behind the captain. "The Gallia captive has escaped with a dancer!"

He turns and notices Lotus and Fjord. "So he has." The captain steps forward and looks at the two. "Hm. Well, I suppose I no longer have to guess which of you is Lotus."

He knows my name? Wait...That face. I've seen him before...!

Lotus steps back in surprise, but quickly composes herself. Her surprise melts into anger. "You're that pirate that killed her!"

He grins slightly. "So you remember me? Impressive. But I'm afraid a good memory won't be much use for you in the afterlife." He reaches for his sword and pistol as Fjord moves forward and pushes Lotus back.

"Look out!"

He seems much stronger than the others we've faced. I shouldn't be hesitant about using Spellboost to my advantage.

Spellboost activates anytime you hit an enemy with a spell they are weak to.

For example, if you hit a Fire Elemental with a water element spell, you will not only do double damage, but gain a Spellboost. Then you can cast another spell for one less Manaflow than usual in the same turn.

Fjord stands at the front, taking a defensive stance with an icy shield in hand. Lotus quickly spins around before creating a bright burst of light, damaging all enemies. "One more." She flips back and splits into multiple copies of herself before they charge across the battlefield, landing multiple strikes on the pirates with shadow daggers. The two pirates fall, but the Captain still stands. He moves forward and swings his blade into Fjord, breaking his shield with the strike.

"It will take more than that to kill me!"

Lotus casts Burst! Pirate receives 4 damage. Captain receives 2 damage. Pirate receives 4 damage.

Spellboost! Lotus casts Shadowstrike! Pirate receives 9 damage. Captain receives 7 damage. Pirate receives 9 damage. Both Pirates are defeated!

Captain casts Slash! Fjord receives 3 damage.
