Or we could be a pack of fuzzy forest friends.

Crow- No. GX and I will work it out. Again, it was the SRD's fault. K. But remember I've actually got experience with the system, so feel free to ask me questions. In general.

Simply talking and reading about the system with people who are familiar and trying to build various different characters is extremely helpful. I still recommend GiantITP for anyone who has system questions, references, recommendations, and optimization help.

Yeah... you aren't wrong. It's pretty complex in Pathfinder. Neo's bringing up a character sheet for me now, I'll look at it and see if I can't help a bit.

You guys seem to be missing a tank class. What's a good tank class?

Maybe we should have some kinda...character creation mini session so that it can be set up with less issues.

Pathfinder doesn't really have any proper tanks because unlike a video game, there isn't a way to really draw aggro.
However, to perform the same function, the general builds are Fighters with a reach weapon and Combat Reflexes.
However, Path of War has the Warder class which makes an excellent tank. It gets bonus attacks of opportunity, heavy armor, lots of defense, and lots of options.
If you want to go with reach, go for a Zweihander Sentinel Warder with Eternal Guardian. Maybe use a Tradition to sub in a Discipline that grants mobility options like Unquiet Grave, Black Seraph, Chimera Soul, or Sleeping Goddess (this has the most readily available mobility option of any discipline, since it has a first level stance that grants flight at level 10 as part of it's scaling).

If you want to go with first party, Cavalier is a pretty good tank due to Challenge, though if you just want to absorb craploads of damage, Fighter with Armor Specialization and Barbarians are pretty hard to kill.
I'd go with either a Myrmidon Fighter or a Zweihander Sentinel Warder for a heavy armor "big stick" tank, personally. Path of War adds too many options and things for Martials to do to go without.

We aren't using Path of War. Stop bringing it up, Lurk.

You guys seem to be missing a tank class. What's a good tank class? Paladin, fighter, cleric (if built right), and aegis. Samurai and monk both kinda work... or vitalist. Bunny would be a good vitalist.

I thought Neo said you already gave it the go ahead to build one.
But in all honesty, that's a huge mistake if you want Martials to feel relevant outside of dealing good damage. It's not even a power thing, it's just that for most martial characters, it's just constant full attacking or charging, which can get kinda boring.

I don't think we're using Psionics, which Aegis and Vitalist fall under.
Though Aegis is also good for tanking.

There are also a number of teamwork feats that let you do stuff like shield an adjacent ally, and having Tower Shield Focus gives you access to pretty much all of them.
Swashbuckler is a class that lets you do a lot of dodge tanking, and it's got sort of a performative aspect that makes getting attention pretty much a main part of your toolkit. I considered dipping into it for a level or more to help my (very much not a tank) Cavalier not be as easy to kill. If you want the benefits of Cavalier tanking but don't want to repeat classes (Cavaliers are by no means bad for that, but...) then you could try a Daring Champion Cavalier (Cavalier variant which has some Swashbuckler skills) or a Samurai (which has the Sword Saint variant to go mountless.) There are several orders for Cavalier and Samurai which give them tanky abilities. I went the opposite route and chose Order of the Flame, meaning I can basically trade my defense for damage after each opponent I face is defeated.

In terms of "hard to kill" and not essentially drawing aggro, it's really hard to beat a sword and board fighter or a Totem Barbarian (I think that's the tank one, have never actually looked at Barb stuff in detail), and even a Bloodrager if you want to mix in some magic.
Warpriest is decent too. I made a really tanky spellcaster Homebrew a few months ago just to make a tanky armored arcane caster if you're interested in that.

HHD, if you want to, I can meet with you on Roll20 tonight and help you figure things out.
And if other people need build help, looking at options or figuring out what feat to take, I can help with that too.

Probably not going to have time tonight at any decent EST hour, but thanks for the offer.
I want an aquatic race. Can anyone suggest better than Merfolk or Undine? Bonus if it can have tentacles. If I'm going to do shield and sword I want two of each at the same time.
