Okay, so we have our divine caster and our trapfinder, both of which could be the party face as well.
So, to cover all the bases, we need a controller, a guy with a big stick, and a Utilitarian.
If Cheese still wants to go with a Cavalier, then we have our big stick guy, though it'll be less effective in dungeons or many restrictive spoooooooky areas.
Though, since this is an Occult campaign, we might want at least one of the Occult classes. I'm looking at building either a Scourge or Usher of Lost Souls Spiritualist, depending on whether we need a controller or an Occult specialist more.
If only they didn't overlap, then I could just go with both.

It's not quite a 100% occult campaign, but I don't see where using an occult class would be any problem here. Feel free to look at that.

I figured that most if not all first party material is fine.
For quick reference, the Occult classes are:
Psychic - Sorcerer with Psychic magic and spooky Occultist - John Constantine, using special tools to cast special spooky spells Spiritualist - Spooky caster with a not-ghost companion who makes one of the best scouts in the game Mesmerist - Spooky trickster caster like a bard but replace music with tricky magic Medium - Jack of all trades who is milquetoast at everything, but can change specialties daily to be better at any individual thing Kineticist - Sucks at life. A damage dealer that deals crappy damage and hurts itself as one of it's primary functions. If you want to play a character like this who does magic lasers without actual spells, look at Forrestfire Studios' Avowed class
Though each class has all sorts of different archetypes that change things quite a bit.
All the classes are Tier 3 (versatile and decently powerful) except the Tier 2 Psychic (Amnesiac hits tier 1) and the Tier 5/6 kineticist.

I'm in, if it's still an option.
I'll probably run a Catfolk Cavalier.

Sure thing, Cheese. I need you so I have enough people to run a game, anyway.

Why don't we all do different animal things?
Crow could be a Kenku/Tengu, I could go with a Grippli or a Ratfolk, and I'm sure there are catfolk subspecies for big cats as well.

If you want to work to avoid similarities, here's Vike.

Having a party with no human characters... Well, I'd have to figure out just how strange that looks to others. A party with many non-humans (or elves, or dwarves) is one thing, but not having a standard race at all is highly unusual. Could be fun. But probably will mean some headaches for me. So I'd feel like a real GM very quickly.

Well, maybe fantastic racism could be part of the campaign?

Oh, so Crow's going to play a tengu because bird. I see how it is.
Well maybe I will play a tengu. But not a karasu tengu, an okami tengu. And chase after the foxes and kitties like a good doggy.

Pathfinder Tengu aren't actual Tengu. Thanks just couldn't call them Kenku for legal reasons.
Anyways, I'm thinking of using either a Ratfolk Occultist or a Grippli Spiritualist.

Okay. GX, what's the point buy total for this? 15, 20, or 25?

Okay. GX, what's the point buy total for this? 15, 20, or 25? I need to approve your character's... well, everything, first. Everyone goes through this process.

Wouldn't everyone use the same point buy though?
I'm trying to see what I can accomplish, because some builds are more MAD than others and thus are less possible with lower point total relative to the other builds.

We're not using one system fits all. That's what GX was trying to tell you. I used the Standard roll system with 2 rerolls. It's what you and GX decide is best for your character.

4d6b3 or 3d6 rolls?
Though in all honesty, if characters do have point buy, they should all use the same point total.
I just need an idea of expected level of power and whatnot.

Oh, and what about Traits? Are we using any (I think they are an optional rule but they can be really good for extra mechanical flavor).

Alright, so far I have a Kitsune Oracle with innate magic (very taboo), a Catfolk Thief with access to minor magic that's not innate, though he is descended from a family that might secretly have been innate magic users, some kind of goat person Occultist which probably at least dabbles in innate magic...
You guys are not going to be a very popular party unless you get good at keeping secrets, or fall into the wrong (right? wrong?) group who accepts it. So there's that. You guys need that heads up. Also, stuff that comes up in the main plot will be far more relevant and close to home this party than I expected, since I was assuming we might have just one person who usees innate magic and maybe one other person who knows a bit about its existence.
...Can we count completely changing plot progression and overall tone of the campaign before it starts as breaking it for the first time?
