Amelia grew up in a little feudal style kingdom in the midwest, and the idea of knights always fascinated her. She started training as a Cyber Knight as a child, since she didn't really have anywhere else to be. She was eventually trained as one of a few who used espionage and she generally infiltrated the surrounding mage kingdoms and undermined anything that would result in lots of damage/wounded people/kingdoms going to war.
However, she was originally from the Coalition States, a time still several years out from the present Rifts Earth time of the campaign. She fell through a rift as a toddler, which brought her to a very different place and time. This would have come up in a mission the party went on that sent them to a parallel, future Rifts Earth to deal with the CS that was beginning to expand rapidly and violently, threatening that and other timelines. Alternate future CSbro (who still met and befriended Celly in his timeline), a tutor to the young Prosek heir and scientist aware of the connections between party!Earth and his universe, ends up in contact with some of the Sentinels crew, and they send the party to go wreck stuff in the alternate CS, since that's what the party is good for. It all seems simple, but the party is contacted as soon as they get too deep in the mission to back out. Sheppard has gotten wind of what they're doing, and he's panicking. The party wasn't supposed to be on this mission. Whoops.
The party ends up over their heads, and soon realizes why Sheppard is freaking out. Through crazy machinations (this is our party, after all) they end up being in the same place as the Prosek heir, who has taken over and is behind the brutal methods and crazy world domination. Information hasn't been great, but CSbro filled them in, so they know what to expect when they meet Van Prosek.
Except, they failed to ask good questions. And CSbro forgot to be specific about a few things, not thinking they'd matter. The party finds out "Van" is short for Vanessa, and she has a familiar mark on her forehead.
Sheppard has known about this for years, so now all of his squirming about Amy mentioning how much more effective they'd be if they were evil makes sense. Evil Amy could take over the world. It's already been happening here.
The party has a few options about what they can do to destroy the CS's hope entirely. Amy was going to leave Joel with her younger, evil-er self. That qualified as an alternate win condition in Misty's book.
