Right. That's why we don't want to accidentally kill Allune with a Wind Spell. Because then we have no hope of winning. I'm giving Crow just a little credit and betting he didn't make the enemies in the very first real battle in the CYOA so stupidly overpowered that the dog can OHKO Alice. Alice has a better chance lasting a few seconds against the dog than hitting the dog on top of the Hawk and not the Hawk with a AoE spell.
And Crow, remember that the RNG doesn't control what happens in your CYOA. You do.

Helpful.
To clarify, A is "I'm going to try not to hit Allune, but I'm definitely killing that doog." B is "I'd rather miss than hit Allune."
Allune: 3HP Doog: 2HP

Allune: 3HP Doog: 2HP And C is "I'm going to get the Doog's attention by trying to pull it off her". Which, considering Allune has 3HP left and Alice has Tomefaire, is a much safer idea. A Wind spell would definitely kill Allune from that range.

The Decidinator says "How annoying's the hawk? Eh. When in doubt, use magic. Then look at Azel's magic stat and bemoan the design choice that makes him promote to a mage knight."
Wat.
Rambling aside, that's a vote for B. So B it shall be.

Wait, what? Who voted for B? I didn't see anyone else vote for B!
Goddammit you're all going to get both Allune and Alice killed.
Edit: Oh, you got one of your non-Verse friends to vote. Sorry, tired. But if it looks like Alice is going to die, can you please have Mary show up and save her? Mary was the wielder of the Goetia and is the Guardian of the forest. She should be able to sense when monsters have invaded her forest.
Also, this is all Emppy's fault.

Alice focuses intently on the doog. She aims a spell at it, aiming to barely graze it as far from Allune as possible - more than anything, she doesn't want to risk hitting the injured laguz. More blades of wind spring from her fingertips, lashing at the doog's hindquarters. It barely flinches at the attack, but it's enough to remind it that she's still there.
It lets Allune go and turns to snarl at Alice as if noticing she's there for the first time. It takes a few steps towards her as Allune scrambles up. The doog leaps at Alice and she hurriedly shuffles backwards. She avoids the pounce, stumbles over a rock and falls over. Her tome flies out of her hands. The doog advances on her menacingly. Allune leaps high into the air, then drops. She slams her heels into the back of its neck. It collapses to the ground, immediately dead.
"...Are you OK?" Alice asks.
Allune nods as she catches her breath.
"Your arm looks pretty bad..." Alice says. "Here, I have a vulnerary." She rifles through her sash and finds it - and feels something else, as well. She pulls out the vulnerary, an small, blue potion, and a note.
"From your grandmother - she sends her love. -Doran." Alice received an elixer! Current Stock: Alice - 1 She places the elixer back in her dress. Allune examines her arm with a frown. She notices the myriad stains on her white pants, which seems to cause her much greater distress. "Ugh..." she groans. She tries to wipe off the grass, but the damp blades cling to her leg. She sighs and starts picking dirk and debris out of her wings.
Alice sits up and looks up at Allune. "So you won't roll around in the grass with me, but it's fine with a monster" she asks with mock indignation. Allune glares at her for a moment, then goes back to preening.

Alice rises to her knees. "Here, let me help. Stop fidgeting. Give me your hand."
Allune obeys, giving Alice her injured arm. She keeps cleaning herself with her other. "Tsk. My pants are ruined. Look at that bloodstain..."
Alice runs her hand through the grass. She bathes the laguz' arm in dew to wash away the blood. "I've told you time and again that you shouldn't wear bright white pants out here."
"If I left it up to you, I probably wouldn't be wearing anything..."
"No, you wouldn't be," Alice agrees. "You really should take your boots off sometime, just enjoy the feel of the grass under your feet, the brush rubbing against your legs..."
Allune pulls a blade of wet grass from her wing and looks at it in revulsion. "I don't understand how you can enjoy rolling around in this... It's disgusting!"
Alice pulls a cloth from her sash and dries the wound, examining it carefully. It doesn't look too bad. "I don't think it's disgusting. I think it feels wonderful," she says quietly. "And even if I didn't enjoy it, I'd still want to do it sometimes."
Allune stops and looks at her in confusion. "Because...?"
Alice readies the vulnerary. "Feelings like disgust, sadness..." She presses the medicine against the wound and Allune winces. "Pain. Are they really so unpleasant? Don't you think they can be enjoyable sometimes?"
"...No? I think those things are all defined as being unpleasant..."
"Well, think of it the other way. Would it really be so great to go through life never knowing anything but happiness?"
Allune stares at her for a moment before she decides to change the subject. "It's odd that monsters would attack unprovoked in the middle of the day... We aren't near any nests, either."
Alice closes her eyes as she finishes wrapping the bite. "Something's not right. The forest is still so quiet..."
Allune nods. "We should get back to the village. Quickly." A loud hiss rings out in the distance, followed by the indistinct sound of shouting.
"Oh, no. Allune, where exactly are we?" Alice asks urgently.
"We're near the northern edge of the forest..." Allune tells her. "Are we going to go help?"
Alice nods in response. End of Chapter Prologue X

"N-n-neeeehee...! No more, no... no m-more...! AhaaahahaHEEhaaahaha...! Plea-hee-hee-heeeeese...!" Lily pleads.
Gale looks down at her captive. She knows she's already pushing her luck. "Aw, but you're so cute when you're all helpless like this! And your laugh is adorable. Your real one, not that fake one you use in court. And the way you squirm-"
"Gale!"
Aw. "We-e-e-ell, I think you still deserve worse... But I'll let you off easy since I love you so much." Gale dismounts Lily and offers her a hand up. She spreads her arms out invitingly. "You missed me, right?"
Lily wraps her arms around Gale's neck in a hug. A bit tighter than normal, perhaps. "I... hate you... so much..." she pants.
"You know you love me."
"I love you enough to warn you: my vengeance... will be swift and terrible."
Gale giggles and helps Lily fix her hair. Lily tucks her tunic back into her belt and smooths her clothes out while Gale searches for Lily's pilfered boots. After a few moments of straightening up, the pair slip out of the closet together. Lily's face turns bright red as several recruits hanging around the door suddenly realize they have better things to do, absolutely anywhere else. Gale give Lily a sly grin.
"Swift. And. Terrible." Lily whispers quietly. Intermission June, Paen, and Claudia sit alone, the messenger dismissed. "So, we have two spoiled brats coming to beat their chest and negotiate," Paen says. "What do we know about them?"
"The Emperor's nephew is rather popular with the populace, many consider him a kind young man. Not the greatest warrior, nor the smartest - but very reliable. He's been acting as an assistant in the Valm court for years. He'll be arriving in from the west, in Meridia," June explains. "The Feroxi representative is a young lady, common birth - not that that matters in Feroxi politics. She's proven herself in the arena several times, and even served as the current Ruling Khan's champion in the last tournament. She's exceptionally skilled at combat. As for her personality, rumors say she's very... dutiful. Stern, but dutiful."
Paen nods. "This should be a ceremonial mission more than anything - we need to prepare for the summit in Trine. We'll send Rand and Lily to meet them. I doubt they'll feel slighted with the prince and princess for escorts. We'll send some royal guardsmen with them. Claudia, any suggestions?"
"Mina for Rand, and Hawke for Lily," Claudia says immediately. "We'll give the new recruits a chance to get some experience in the field. And since neither Lily nor Mina can fly a wyvern yet-"
Paen raises a hand. "No need to justify yourself. I trust your judgement completely. I believe that Valerian knight - Storm, was it? - was planning to head East to meet the Feroxi representative. We'll send a few extra troops, as well. So... Who should we send where?" West/Valm Escort Team: (No initial named characters) East/Ferox Escort Team: Storm, Kelly, Shep, Gale
A) Send Lily and Hawke west, Rand and Mina east B) Send Rand and Mina west, Lily and Hawke east

Whether Lily and Hawke get the trainees on their team and meet "The Countess" while Rand and Mina have to rely on getting new recruits while meeting the the emperor's nephew... or vice-versa.
