Age of Destruction: Fire Emblem CYOA

Lily decides she doesn't want a two-front fight on her hands. Storm pulls back, then dives over the front-most enemies to attack the dark mage. The dark mage leaps to the side as Storm dives. A fighter and a soldier leap at Storm, injuring him severely.

"Tch. Fool." Zenia strolls through the front line with an almost casual ease. She points her blade at the dark mage threateningly. "Allow me to demonstrate!" She tosses her sword into the air and drops down on him, eviscerating him. She guards Storm's rear.

Hawke, Gale, Keith, and Kelly take the front line, trading blows with the enemy soldiers. Lily's side seems to take a small advantage, but the enemy is holding strong. Kelly takes a small wound. Shep can't get to Storm, so he heals her instead. Lily casts a dark sphere at the front soldier and misses badly.

"Oi, mateys, lemme show ya how we do it!" Harv takes a hard swing and knocks a chunk of armor off one of the soldiers, dealing heavy damage. The soldier stabs back, but Harv slaps the stab away. Rakim attacks another soldier and lands a solid blow. The soldiers are beginning to buckle. The enemy fighters join the fray, but aren't able to land any solid hits.

One of the soldiers twirls his lance before landing a powerful blow on Keith. His armor absorbs the worst of it, but it does a fair bit of damage. "Ugh... N-no!" he yells, swinging his lance and charging over the soldier. Lily's group begins to break through.

The knight in front of the storeroom takes a defensive stance, but doesn't move. Instead, he hefts a javelin and chucks it at Shep. It hits him in the side. "Grk...! I can't..." he spits out. He seems badly injured.

"Now you dance for me!" the dancer yells. She leaps at the dark mage, rips out her knife, and plunges it into his chest - or tries to, anyway. It clinks off something metallic. The dark mage looks at her incredulously as she steps back with a matching expression.

His surprise turns to anger and he slaps her back. The amulet around his neck flashes with power as he unleashes a ring of shadows. They coalesce into her and explode violently. She screams in pain and collapses to her knees. The dark mage advances on her, but she manages to throw a knife at him. It sticks into his stomach, buying her a moment to breathe.

The enemy soldier moves to intervene, ready to finish the injured dancer off. A lance comes from behind, stabbing him through the back. The enemy soldier's caught too off-guard to react. He seems badly injured. He turns and attacks the other soldier, and the pair become locked in a duel while the dancer and mage continue squaring off. The dark mage creates another cluster of shadows. The explode around the kneeling dancer; she leaps to her feet and out of the way at the last second. "I shall never submit!" A pair of knives flash through the air and into the dark mage. He's badly injured, but still better off than the dancer.

Lily's able to hear the shout and ensuing sounds of combat coming from the adjacent door. "Survivors!?"

"Two of them, I think!" Gale answers. "Sounds like there's two enemies with them!"

There were 5 crits, Emmpy. 5. 3 of which were between.the dancer and the dark mage.

"Fall back!  Into the storeroom!"  Lily punctuates her order with a pair of shadow balls directed at the knight guarding the door.  The knight weathers the attacks and tosses a javelin her way.  She easily ducks it.  "What...!?  How are you still standing!?"

"I got this, Lil!" Gale calls out.  She body slams the knight.  He staggers back, but doesn't fall.  She easily dodges out of the way when he swings at her, kicking out at him again.  He holds up his shield.  "Oh, wow, you aren't joking..."

Harv chucks a hand axe at the knight.  It clangs off his helmet.  The knight takes another step back, pressed against the wall, then hurls a javelin back at Harv.  It misses.

"Princess!" Hawke calls out.  His wyvern leaps into the air and together the slam an axe down on the knight.  The knight finally crumples to the ground, still leaving a barred door in the way.

"Dammit...  Can anyone pick a lock!?" Lily asks.

"...I can, your highness..." Kelly volunteers, unenthusiastically.  She hops off her horse and starts fiddling with the door.  In a few seconds, it's open.

"Everyone in!" Lily calls.

There's a door on the opposite wall of the storeroom, and a large crack in the east wall.  She sees four figures fighting inside.  A green-haired soldier in discolored-purple Carcinan armor is standing on a barrel, stabbing at one of the unknown soldiers.  He's got a white dress shirt and black vest on underneath his breastplate.  Neither soldier seems to have the advantage.  Keith and Storm rush in to the soldier's aid, catching the soldier in a sudden triangle and finishing him easily.

"Thanks," the soldier says.  "Keith, right?"

"Yeah...  Sorry I wasn't here sooner."

"Eh.  Bringing all these friends sorta makes up for it, y'know?" the soldier says.  "Hey, am I losing it, or is that the princess herself?"

"No, that's... Princess Lily," Keith assures him.

"Cool.  That's, uh...  You did pretty good.  Didn't know you had that sorta pull.  I guess I'll follow her lead.  Pretty sure she outranks... literally everyone but her father."

"Uh... yeah.  What's the situation in the fort?" Keith asks.

"Everyone's dead.  Except not really dead...  They started getting back up.  Y'know what that means.  Risen."

"That's... what we were afraid of.  Hey, uh... this is... kinda awkward to ask, but I don't remember your name?"

"Oh, yeah, don't worry about it.  Name's Gin," the soldier says.  "You catch that, your highness?  Sorry, I'll give you a properly polite introduction with all the bowing and ceremony once... y'know.  People aren't trying to kill you."

"I... appreciate that," Lily says, distracted by more enemies catching up with them.

The other pair are a dark mage and a tall, beautiful woman with long, lavender hair tied in a ponytail with a golden band.  She doesn't seem to be wearing a proper shirt.  Instead, she wears a thick, maroon cape that wraps around her chest which constantly exposes her midriff and arms.  It offers a glimpse of her bare back as it flares up when she leaps out of the way of the dark mage's attack.  She wear flowing, white pants ending in golden anklets and bare feet - and she seems to be producing knives from nowhere, tossing them at the dark mage.  The mage has several knives and stab wounds, but refuses to fall.

Zenia rushes past the others in a blur.  Her blade flashes as she swats the tome from the dark mage's hand without breaking pace.  Her other hand wraps around the mage's neck and she carries him along until she slams his back into the wall.  "Insolent fool.  Would you care to explain to me why you dare to harm my darling subordinate before I snap your neck?"

The dark mage tries to gasp something out.

Zenia gives him a disdainful look.  "Isana, would you care to explain why he yet draws breath?"

but Isana walks over and plants a pair of knives in his chest.  "I struck that amulet on his chest, Mistress."

"That's not like you, Sweetie," Zenia says with an uncharacteristic pleasantness.  "Now, would you care to explain why exactly you're here in Carcina, especially here in this fort?"

"Not... really, no," the dancer admits.  "I don't suppose you would believe it's because I really missed you?"

"Not for a moment."

"Would I lie to you, Mistress?"  The dancer asks.  She gives her most innocent, puppy-dog stare.

"With every breath you take.  We'll speak of this more later.  In private.  And we'll keep talking until I get an answer I like, so I suggest you start brainstorming more believable lies.  Now, introduce yourself to the princess.  And be on your best behavior.  You represent all of Regna Ferox now."

"Of course!" Isana dramatically flips her cake and bows to Lily.  "I am Isana, your highness.  I am but a humble dancer, but I give courage to my allies where I can... and I'm rather competent with knives."

"That's... great, but you're about to die," Lily says.  "Shep!"

Shep runs in and starts tending to the dancer.

The enemies continue to advance on the group still trying to get into the storeroom.  Harv and Gale trade blows with a soldier and a fighter, respectively.

"Stay behind me, Princess!" Hawke commands.

A dark mage comes around the corner and unleashes a wave of darkness.  Hawke is caught off-guard and takes the full brunt of the spell's impact.  "Ugh..."  A soldier takes advantage of the moment of weakness to stab at him.  The lance strike hits, but Hawke manages to keep his mount.  He swings his axe back at the soldier.  The soldier's sent sprawling to the ground, dead.  A fighter runs up to take his place, leaping past the wyvern and swinging his axe down at the barely-conscious Hawke.  He sees the blow coming and tries to deflect it, but it breaks through his guard.  "Ugh...!" Hawke repeats.  The axe falls from his hand, and he falls from his wyvern.  "Is this... how it ends...?  I... did my duty..."

"Hawke!" Lily calls out.  She tries to run to his aid, but another fighter runs forward to attack her.  He clips her armored hip with a quick chop.  It doesn't pierce the armor, but still knocks her sideways.  She doesn't seem to be hurt at all, just extremely angry.  Lily draws her sword and slashes his exposed chest, leaving a serious injury.

(A) Everyone hold position in the storeroom and heal up (choose someone to guard the north door)

(C) Chop through the cracked wall

Besides much rather be in an enviroment where we have some control and they are coming to us

Hawke's wyvern stands over him protectively, hissing at any enemy that gets close.  Lily tries to push through to Hawke's side, but the fighters prevent her.  "Gale!  Get Hawke!" Lily orders.

Gale bats at one of the fighters to drive him back, then turns to Lily.  "B-but...  B-b-b-but w-w-wyvern..."

"Just do it!" Lily demands.

Gale kicks the fighter she's engaged with, then gingerly approaches the wyvern.  It whirls to stare at her for a second, then turns away to hiss at another fighter.  It slightly raises a wing in an inviting manner, and Gale hastily dives under the wyvern, grabs Gale in her jaws, and hurriedly starts dragging him towards Lily.  One of the fighters swings at her, but Lily jumps in the way and parries the blow, then slams her foot into the side of his knee.

She crouches down and grabs Hawke while he's stunned, working with Gale to drag him into the storeroom while Harv covers their retreat.  Hawke's wyvern takes to the air as soon as he's safe.

Zenia swaggers over the the door.  Lily expects some snarky line, but Zenia just quietly readies her sword.  Lily passes Hawke over to Kelly, along with an elixer.  "I'll back you up," she tells Zenia.  Zenia shrugs.

Gale props Hawke up, and Kelly tears off his helm and forces the elixer into his mouth.  As he swallows it, his wounds glow with a pale blue light and begin to heal rapidly.

Shep tends to Keith.  He seems to be back to full strength.  Isana sashays up to Shep, twirling before wrapping her arms around his neck and whispering in his ear.  "Don't give up!  I know you're hurt, but push yourself!"

The sight of the still-injured dancer pushing herself to encourage everyone inspires him.  "Y-yeah, we've got a moment to rest, but...  I can't slow down."  He runs over and starts tending to Storm.  Storm is badly wounded; even after treatment, his injuries are still rather serious.

Hawke tries to pick himself up.  Kelly and Gale help him to his feet.  His wounds are fully healed.

The fighters swarm the door.  Zenia easily sidesteps the first fighters attack, then slashes into his chest.  The next tries to hit her before she can dislodge her sword, but she punches him in the face to buy herself time to rip it out and stab him.  As the third fighter runs up, Zenia wrenches he sword through the corpse and through the next fighter.  The soldier leaps at her, thinking it's an opening.  Lily jumps in and fends the strike off with her rapier.  Zenia reverses her grip on her sword and swings through the soldier.  The last fighter and soldier are still running to join the fight.  The dark mage that grievously injured Hawke attacks Zenia.  She casually shuffles back and out of the way.

Lily looks at the pile of corpses at Zenia's feet.  She did all this on her own, so easily and without so much as a scratch...  Who - what is she!?  Lily thanks Grima that they're on the same side.  Hopefully it's going to stay that way after the summit...

The south door of the store room is suddenly thrown open.  "What's going on in here!?" an enemy soldier demands.  There's a pair of soldiers, a mage, and a dark mage.  Three archers and a mage are further down in the fort's yard; it would take them some time to reach the door, but they'll be on anyone that rushes out to counter-attack the enemy in a moment.

There's the sound of hacking coming from the east wall.  The large crack begins to widen.
