Chapter 1A: The Age of Destruction Alice sprints through the forest with ease. She darts between trees, gusts of wind blow bushes out of the way; her feet barely seem to touch the ground. She has no difficulty keeping up with Allune as the winged woman weaves through the high branches. In less than three minutes, the pair breaks through the dense foliage and breaks through to a wide trail. Two people stand on the path, as well as a large monster corpse.
A young man, tall and lean, is busy struggling to free his hatchet from a bael's head. He wears a simple outfit, pants and shirt - though the shirt's buttons are misaligned, leaving it slightly off-kilter. He wears a small leather shoulder plate. He stomps on the spider's head as he jerks and twists and wiggles the axe head free. He has short-cut blue hair and brown eyes. His nose and cheekbones are unusually sharp.
The young woman with him is pressing a vulnerary against a claw slash on her thigh. She wears the traditional heavy, dark coat of a tactician, drawn back so she can tend herself. The back of the cloak shifts strangely, as does the matching kerchief tied around her head - Alice knows it's because she conceals a fox-like tail and matching pointed ears. Her long hair is silver despite her youth, and she turns to stare at the new arrivals with intense golden eyes.
Alice immediately recognizes the pair. They were with the Valerians that passed through earlier, come to see them off. They were heading back. It should've been easy enough, but, judging from the bael corpse, things have quite obviously gone wrong. "Rhett? Aunt Sylvia? Are you alright?" Alice asks.
~Bud, Gentle Giant~
June's childhood friend. A massive, muscular lad, but friendly and cheerful to a fault. Was there from the very beginning, and was the one that called for help from the Trine garrison when their town was attacked. Slowly managed to win over Wendy. After the war, he returned to rebuild his town. Married to Wendy. Father to Rhett.
~ Wendy, Friend to Animals ~
Part of Rain's team. Was originally extremely struck up and disliked June, but slowly warmed up to her. Went with June to help save Saul, but broke her arm during the teleportation. After the war, returned with Bud to help him rebuild. Now raises, breeds, and trains pegasi for the Valerian Holy Knights. Married to Bud. Mother to Rhett.
"I told you not to call me 'Aunt Sylvia!' It makes me sound like an old lady..." Sylvia reminds her. "And it's just a scratch."
"Let me see," Alice insists. "You know how bad bael injuries can be, even if it's not deep..."
Sylvia complies and shows her the cut. "Don't worry, this bael was pretty young. Not mature enough to produce dangerous venom through its claws yet."
Alice nods in agreement. "What happened?"
"We got attacked," Rhett answers flatly. Allune lands next to him and starts helping him free his weapon. She pulls it out easily. He examines his hatchet and wipes off some of the blood. "Oh. Thanks."
"No problem. It's pretty obvious you were attacked. But what do you mean 'attacked?' Did you provoke the bael, or...?" Allune probes.
"I mean we got attacked," Rhett insists.
Sylvia groans. "We were just walking and the thing leaped out of the trees at us. We tried to run, but it chased us quite a ways. And we couldn't let it leave the forest. I wasn't expecting monsters to... y'know. Especially during the day. I was sloppy..."
"We were attacked as well," Allune says. "I think... it may be best to get back to the laguz village. Quickly."
Slyvia's kerchief rises as her ears perk up. "That... may be a good idea. I hear something com-"
A sharp howl cuts her off.
"That... didn't sound like a monster," Allune says.
Three mauthe doogs and a pair of mogalls come rushing out of the trees. They almost seem panicked, like they're running from something. But as soon as they notice Alice and her group, they change their bearing and prepare to attack.

You were supposed to wait to start Alice's chapter until I had caught up, Crow. At least leave the poll open long enough for me to vote. Please?

Well, it's a good thing this is a CYOA then and not a train, and that the author wants more votes.

All caught up. C.
What do Firestorm and Deadeye do again?

Deadeye's the same as Radiant Dawn - triple damage and makes the enemy sleep. But only with bows. I don't... think Sylvia can actually use bows. I know Sniper's not on her available class list, but I'd need to double-check if anything with bows is. I should also add that to the database...
Firestorm's the Kistune ability, so it's something Sylvia can get through promotion. Chance for fire-type spells to do minor splash damage.

But Rhett can actually use Deadeye right? Cause that's one of his skill options. I was asking for him.
24 and PX. Even if Sylvia does get Firestorm later, it will be more helpful to us now than Demoiselle IMO.

...Right, Yes, Deadeye would be for Rhett. He could use bows by promoting to Warrior, and can't promote to Sniper.
I guess I'll say, for the sake of argument, demoiselle/(whatever I called the male equivalent) will work on anyone that can S-rank the character.

Oh, I voted thinking Deadeye with axes were a thing.
Still gonna stick by it for the long-term investment. Assuming we don't later decide "nahman, Berserker."

Well, Berserkers usually tend to be better than Warriors in every way... Unless Crow has nerfed them in this. But the rest of his potential skills are pretty useless, so.....
Edit: I legitimately hate my phone.

Well, Berserkers usually tend to be better than Warriors in every way... Unless Crow has nerfed them in this. I'd figure we'd be less willing to throw away a perfectly good parent/Mastery skill and go Berserker. If we were aiming for Berserker, then might as well choose hit+20 because lolaxeaccuracy.

I forgot it's a real skill now. I made a male version back in SoS and don't won't to dig up what I called it so now it can just be that.
