The rains letting up and beasts are coming out of the bushes hear in the thicket, so it would probably be a good idea to go back to the beach and keep on searching for the wave raptor. You urge Iris to follow your logic, but it seems Corva already had the same idea because she just walked past you to the beach. Man that which can be irritating, you need to get some distance. You aren't sure what you should look for but after a while you get the impression that someone is near by. You try to home in on your instinct and before long you hear the sounds of battle. The battle is between a man with matted black hair and a long one edged sword and a giant snail with a spiked shell. The man looks like he's been through hell, all the more so because you see what looks like a demon clinging to his back. By demon you mean a transparent purple rag doll with tarnished silver eyes and claws, and dark red flames leaking out it's mouth. One way or another you need to warn the girls about this, and a few seconds later you have them at the scene...

The man now has a harpoon run through his shin, and the snail is closing in on him. How should you proceed?
A) help him. B) attack the snail. C) stay away that demon... D) custom strat. (Why? because I want to see how you think, and explain the battle system as needed through an example.)

24 hour bump.
Is no one brave enough to try a custom strategy?! I designed the options specifically to encourage custom strats. Plus I hoped to use custom strat discussion to explain the combat system. So if any one is willing I'm awaiting your votes.

Uh... I guess I'll try my hand at D. Here goes nothing...
Prioritize the safety of the ronin. Have Iris focus on him using heal, with her new staff to stay long ranged while doing so. She is, in the end, more important than anyone else at this point.
Is there any chance Corva can lose control during the use of her tendrils spell? I don't want so accidentally kind the Ronin instead of helping him... but that seems to be her strongest spell, considering what we saw them capable of earlier.

Corva has much more control over the dark tendril spell than that five year old little girl did, but only about 1/3 the destructive power. What healing spells would you like Iris to use, heal, cure, boost resistance, boost regeneration or a combo of spells.
Every one else there are still 9 hours if you want to support or create a custom. I may even extend the deadline for custom refinements.

I thought boost regeneration was for MP? If not, the that, if so then heal, assuming it costs less than cure, and she will be able to reliably keep up her mana for the wave raptor, our real target.
Let's go ahead and give Corva a go with the tendrils spell, as well. If we successfully recruit this guy, and Iris can keep his health up, the raptor should be a nonissue.

Ok... Heal heals physical damage Cure removes negative status conditions such as poison, burn, or delude. Boost regeneration effects hp regeneration but costs three times as much as heal but lasts three hours (in game). Also what do you intend to do about the demonic doll, it is a factor in this fight. the demon is a class of spirit like the mc and like the mc is immune to conventional attacks, but this demon has been around a while and has more tricks than the mc.

Can we phase inside it? I imagine it is one of the eleven objectives we're looking for?

No you can't phase through it as it is comprised of the same non-corporeal substance as the mc, Iris is one of twelve magic incarnations, the eleven you are looking for are the other incarnations and they are all people, not always human per say but people. The demon is not one of them.

You urge Iris to help the swordsman. She then shouts, "Corva I need you to help me get some distance between that man and the conch." Corva grimaces, "Fine I'll slow the snail down. You, get work on him!" With that Corva pulls a talisman, with five blue glyphs on it, out of her bag, while Iris raises her staff. As a pink glow envelopes the swordsman a row of ice pillars jut up around the snail hindering it's progression. Corva then rushes over to the swordsman helping him up while Iris motions every one back into the brush of the thickets. Once there Corva sets the man down then stands guard while Iris removes the harpoon from the man's shin and heals the wound. The man then weakly states, "You two should flee. I am a cursed man. Quickly flee before misfortune befalls you." You don't doubt him as while he was saying this the demon doll cracked a sinister grin. It then clucked, "Too late, too late. All who cross the swordsmen's way must for master's wrath dearly pay. Kuh, kuh, kuh!"

The girls seem oblivious to this demon and a light has begun to emanate from the demons mouth. What should you do? A) tackle the demon. It might work. B) warn Iris to flee. She might get away if she's made aware of the threat. C) Corva's bag. If you can direct Iris where the demon is she might be able to use the bag's wards to drive off the demon. D) ignore the demon, maybe like you it can't do much harm to physical beings.

Demon witha strange light coming its mouth certainly doesn't sound good. Tackling it might make us go through it. B might have Iris run right into the snail. And D just sounds like we are asking for trouble.
My final vote is C

B and C definitely make the most sense. That being said... I think C is the best choice.

24 hour bump.
New options up in the compendium topic. They're a series of primers designed to elaborate on the battle system.
