Waking Dream - Devil Survivor CYOA

As Kumiko runs past, Kira puts herself in the way.

The Cait Sith and Afancs all use their Demon Speed and come rushing at her.

Kira stands her ground against the first wave.  One of the Afancs swings its tail and smashes them all.  Kira's barrier protects her, but it pierces through Thor and Lailah's.  The Cait Sith attacks with wind, with a similar result.  The other Afanc bites Thor.  Thor unleashes a thunderbolt across the enemy team, badly injuring the cat fairy.  Lailah unleashes a burst of ice, and Kira launches a wall of flame.  One of the beavers falls to the magic barrage, and the other is frozen solid.  Thor smashes it easily.  Lailah and Kira both attack the cat to finish them off.

The next wave doesn't go as well.  Kira siphons some magic from the Cait Sith.  Lailah takes a bad hit, but she and Thor manage to take down one of the beavers.  Cait Sith stabs Lailah, and she collapses.  The Cait Sith and one of the Afanc survive the fight, badly injured, and move on to block Kumiko.  Sara steps up and smashes them effortlessly, the Cait Sith barely managing to deal her a slight wound.  George and Elise keep moving toward Kumiko's side.

The Dark Young moves in and attacks Kira, furious that someone would dare get between it and its prey.



Kira's Battle Aura springs to life as it attacks.  For something that huge, it moves with an unbelievable agility.  Its tendrils coil and writhe and seem to come from all directions at once.  They whip Kira and her demon mercilessly, shattering the aura effortlessly.  Thor collapses under the attack.  Kira tries using the ice magic Waite taught her, unleashing wave after wave of ice.  For every tendril she freezes and shatters, another springs to life to take its place.  She can't tell whether her attacks are having any actual effect, so she tries unleashing Megido.  The monster lets out a horrid shriek that seems to issue from everywhere at once.  It's injured, but it shows no sign of stopping.  It grabs Kira and slams her into the ground.

"Kira!" Sara screams.  "Hold on - we're coming!"

Another group of a Cait Sith and two Afanc appear from the edge of the forest.

(A) Heal Kira and have her keep attacking the Dark Young
(B) Have Kira retreat and summon some new demons (choose 2)
(C) Have Kira intercept the new arrivals

(1) Everyone gang up and attack the Dark Young
(2) Everyone keep falling back and defend
(3) Have (choose) intercept the new arrivals

The Cait Sith and its partners nimbly dodge around the others and attacks Kumiko directly.

"Gah...!" she yelps in pain.  "You... bastards are just lucky I don't have my phone...!"

"What d'ya think you're up to, ya blighters?  I'm the one ya ought worry about!" Elise warns.  She slams into them from behind.  Hard.  After her initial attack, her demons nimbly slips past the pair of Afnac and take out the leader.  With the Cait Sith gone, the other two retreat.

You start retreating and manage to get out of the Dark Young's range.  Then, a shrill cry from above stops you in your tracks.  That beast that chased you through the woods earlier swoops in and crashes down directly in the way of you escape route.  This... is a problem.  You're now caught between a pair of monstrosities.  One, a writhing mass of tentacles.  And the other a griffon-bat-horse... thing...

"Get ready..." Sara tells you.  She revives your Lailah, who in turn revives Thor.  It used a lot of magic and they're still injured, but it's better than nothing.  George heals you directly.

Both the monsters approach you menacingly.  You'll need to cut through one to escape...

Fortunately, their combined presence seems to be intimidating other demons enough to keep them away.

Assign your 4 characters between the two enemies (and healing/hiding/etc)

George heals Kumiko and takes a position in front of her.  The Dark Young comes writhing and wriggling towards Kumiko, and Elise jumps in the way.  "C'mon, ya maggot, I'll deck ya somethin' fierce."

It turns - or at least seems to give her its attention.  A tendril snaps around and smashes into her.  She throws up her arms and takes the hit with a furious smile spread across her face.  "Yer the size of a truck, but ya hit like a wee babe!"  She rears back and delivers a powerful strike.  Her fist sinks into the creature's flesh and doesn't seem to have much effect at all.  "Hmph.  Looks like ya can take a punch, at least..."

Pyro Jack and King Frost both unleash a pair of Dance spells, blasting it with waves of ice and wind.  Their magic seems to have much more of an effect, and the thing shuffles back and lets out an enraged roar.  Its injuries are beginning to add up, but it's still going strong.  It swings wide with one of the large tentacles and smashes all of them at once.  Pyro Jack is barely standing, and King Frost is badly injured.  Elise grunts with effort, but stands her ground.

Elise runs in and throws another punch.  This time, her blow sinks in deep into the thing's side.  As she tries to pull it out, she seems unable to dislodge her fist.  She plants her foot on the creature and tries pulling harder, only for her leg to begin sinking in.  Dozens of smaller tendrils begin to coil around her.  It pulls her free and suspends her upside-down and immobilized in the air.  Another mouth, like a spike-lined pit, opens up on its back beneath her.  Her demons flicker back into her phone.

Sara heals your team before they attack the winged enemy back-to-back.  Sara goes first, leaping at the target with her demons right behind her.  She lands a powerful hit, then Ikusa and Moloch land blows of their own.  The creature rears back, flaps its bat-like wings, and barrages them with a gust of wind. Sara shrugs off the attack without much difficulty.  Moloch takes some serious damage, and Ikusa collapses.

You have Lailah revive Ikusa for Sara, then you dive in to attack it.  You try throwing some icicles at it.  It seems to work surprisingly well.  Lailah attacks normally.  Thor winds his hammer and slams it down on its head.  The creature hisses at him, then whips out with his tail.  The blow looks like it's heading towards Thor, then suddenly redirects mid-lunge and stabs into your chest, then quickly rips out.

"Kira!" Sara's eyes go wide.

You shake your head to let her know you're alright.  You siphon some of the creature's magic as it retreats.  The monster seems to be lightly injured.

Kumiko continues to huddle behind George, Sara, and yourself as the two monsters surround you.

Kira stands there thinking but comes up with no plan in the end and Elise gets eaten in dies. Then it eats Kira too because she's just standing around.

After all the time and effort I put into this game, y'ain't gonna let this sit for literal months with 0 attention then just come back with a 0-effort 0-thought vote. I'm not going to waste the time and effort to dig through all my old notes and revive this just because you got told off. I have better things to do. Like staring at the ceiling and counting the number of poofy little dots. It's not coming back unless I have reason to think there's some actual interest in it continuing.

Then maybe.
