You go running towards the screams as they pull further and further from the gunshots. You manage to find a small, poorly defined trail - it gives you just enough of an advantage that you start to close the distance. You gradually become aware of a large creature crashing through the trees nearby, chasing after the panicked screams. You try calling out, and you're answered by the sound of the runner turning towards you.
A young woman appears. It's Kumiko, dressed in a strange, glowing-white tunic instead of her normal outfit. She's running straight for you - and the monster you've been hearing is right behind her.
At first you think you're looking at a moss-covered tree that's gotten up and started moving. Tendrils the size of tree trunks wrap and weave around, with more and more tentacles branching out as whip-like projections. You can't tell where they end and the main body begins, though you can very clearly make out a mouth - large enough to swallow you whole and lined with hundreds of pointed fangs. Its legs remind you of a goat - except it has way, way too many of them.
"What... What in the seven Hells is that...!?" Elise demands. A noticeable tremor of fear runs through her normally confident and unshakable voice. And she's taking it better than most of the members of your team.
A voice comes over your phone as Vorvadoss answers. "Analysis complete. Enemy: Dark Young. Race: Unknown. Threat level: Exceedingly high."
"Get ready everyone! Stop shaking and get ready to fight!" Bast orders. "I know you can do this!"
Somehow, her encouragement seems enough to calm everyone down. You prepare for a fight...
More demons are gathering. They seem excited by the prospect of scoring an easy meal while you're distracted by this Dark Young. You decide to bring 3 other people into the fight while the rest cover the rear.
Note: All characters except Kumiko (already deployed and unarmed), Bart, and Waite are available for deployment.
Note: If Kumiko is defeated by the Dark Young, she will be killed.
...Crow is a sad crow. I'm not doing a recommended setup this time. Someone else will have to do it.

Hmmmm. Stringest ines should cover the front, but we don't want things unbalanced either.
Ok, so Elise, Sara, and George up front. Everyone else back us up.
Why are you sad? Are our chances that bad? Can you give us some estimates on outcomes?

You tell Elise, George, and Sara to come with you and quickly assign them some skills and demons. Kumiko's ready to start running to you; at fell speed, it'll take about 3 rounds to reach you. She has a lead on the Dark Young, but it's gaining on her.
Several more groups of demons pop out of the woods between you and Kumiko. Two are made of giant, floating skulls - Loa - with a pair of Ikusa on either side. Two teams are led by abominable snowman-looking things - Wendigo - surrounded by blue-skinned women, Yuki Jyouru.
"Watch out!" Bast warns. "Those monsters are able to slow people down. The Wendigos can slow her down more, but if those Ikusa manage to turn her to stone, it's going to be a huge problem..."
(A) Charge straight through the enemies
(B) Try looping around the side
(C) Use Grey's ability to grab some of the enemies

You call for Kumiko to try running around the side instead of straight through the enemies. Sara moves to the left and attacks one of the skulls. She seems to be taking full advantage of her Rage Soul skill, blindly smashing into the enemies alongside her demons despite taking a few hits. Her Ikusa gets turned to stone by one of the enemy Ikusa, and she and Moloch crush it between them, as well as the other. Only the skull survives the fight. After the battle, Sara drops back enough to calm down and casts Amrita to heal her Ikusa of petrification.
Elise is right behind her, and crushes the weakened skull with a single blow.
Kumiko takes the chance to make her move, closing about a quarter of the distance between you before running into one of the Wendigo.
George orders Grey to use its Abduction ability and pulls the Wendigo into range to attack. Grey unleashes his Fire Dance, dealing heavy damage to the icy team while Barbatos snipes one of the Yuki Jyouru. The demons try to take out Grey, but George steps in and blocks the blow before healing himself.
You advance and finish the team off with a shot of flames.
The giant monster scrambles after Kumiko. Even the way the thing runs on those vacillating tentacles is wrong...
The other Loa advances towards Kumiko and unleashes a curse. She seems to slow down immediately. It almost looks like she's running in slow motion - and the monster's gaining on her.
The surviving Wendigo turns its attention on you.
Another team of Loa and two Ikusa appears near the edge of the clearing, but on the distant side and too far to be an immediate threat.

Elise splits off from the others to deal with the new arrivals. They attack first, knocking her demons around a bit. King Frost casts Mabufu on the enemies before Elise unleashes Mow Down to strike them all at once. Pyro Jack attacks, as its fire is useless. Elise punches the Loa in the face to bring it down.
George grabs the other team of Loa and Ikusa and attacks them. Fortunately, he and his entire team are resistant to their curse magic and petrification abilities. Unfortunately, they're also resistant to Grey's fire magic. He only manages to take out one of the Ikusa.
Sara's Ikusa uses its magic to increase critical rate, then she runs in with her Rage Soul and begins attacking the survivors. Moloch and Ikusa take down the other enemy Ikusa, then Sara lands a critical hit on the Loa to smash it to pieces.
You move up and attacks the last group of enemies with Maragi, dealing a lot of damage to all of them. Thor smashes one of the Yuki Jyouru with a Brutal Hit, while Lailah brings the other down with a simple attack. Her Battle Aura nullifies the enemy's attack. You siphon a bit of magic from the surviving Wendigo before your demons bring it down.
Kumiko continues running, but the curse is slowing her down. The enemy continues chasing her, and it's right on her tail. If you don't act now, it's going to get her.
You're almost to Kumiko. George and Sara are a bit behind you, and won't be able to reach her yet. Elise is well away.
A pair of Cait Sith, each flanked with a pair of beaver-like Afancs, appear from the direction the Dark Young came from.
(A) Wait for the others and let Kumiko keep running to you
(B) Get in the way of the Dark Young, though it'll put you in range of all the enemies
(C) Retreat

It's our only shot because if it catches up to her she's as good as dead. We just have to withhold by ourselves until the others arrive and Kumiko is safe. We also have our magic....
