You make yourself comfortable and start going through the demon auction. "Anythin' good?" Elise asks.
You nod as you snag a few nice deals on contracts. You absentmindedly tell her she's free to stick around as long as she needs to.
Elise gives a little laugh until you look up from your phone and tell her you meant it. "Ya aren't just takin' the piss, eh? Not ta look at a gift horse, but why wouldja go'n do that?"

OK! Demon Fusion options have been updated on the third sheet of the Status Page (which you can find under discussion). A few things to note: you can check what a race's Racial Skill does under the Skill List (also on the discussion page OP). You can check what a Demon's base skills, weaknesses, strengths, etc. are on the Wiki (link on the discussion); just find them then scroll down to their SMT:DS2 entry. Also every demon inherits skills from whoever they're fused from, which I'll be handling balancing myself for the sake of simplicity unless someone makes a specific request to, say, fuse Paladin Soul into a squishy mage-type because later they hope to fuse it into a tank or whatever. Or you can just fire blindly because that name sounds cool. Just remember that from here on you'll (almost always) have a full party, so you'll need 8 demons to give everyone a pair to fight with, plus a few demons in reserve might not hurt. So discussion on fusions will be open during the next vote (which I'm going to hammer the post out during lunch). And it'll close at the end of that scene (so, 3:00PM in-story).

Elise considers you for a minute, then laughs. "Most people, I'd be right suspicious o' such a kindly offer. But you... Well, I know ya got a mean streak, but yer pretty honest. An' a bit protective o' yer mates." She gives an exaggerated shrug. "I guess I'll take ya up on yer kindly offer, then."
You tell her that's good to hear. Though you warn her she'll be stuck sleeping on the couch or an air mattress or something.
She turns and stretches out on the couch, resting her head in your lap. "Eh, I think I'll manage. Better'n them uncomfortable hospital beds." She grins up at you for a a minute, then swings up and off the couch. "Think I'm gonna go grab that shower now, if ya don't mind."
After she leaves, you spend a few minutes seeing what types of demons you could make with fusion. You're interrupted as you get a message on your phone. It's from Sara! "I'll be home around 3, see you soon."
That gives you just about half an hour... Enough time to go spend a bit of time somewhere else.
(A) Visit Gregory downtown
(B) Visit Jackson and George at the train station
(C) Go speak with Kumiko
(D) Go find Rita
(E) Head to the docks
(F) Take a nap

You decide to head over to the docks, hoping to run into Waite. She isn't sitting on the usual dock when you arrive, and you don't see her anywhere else. You spend a few moments walking around the area before deciding she's probably not around. Man in Black leaps up to a rooftop and scans the area; no sign of her. You consider leaving, but you don't have time to go anywhere else and make it home in time to beat Sara so you elect to spend a few minutes relaxing by the riverside.
Fortunately, Waite's spell seems to still be in effect. Rubbish funnels along the far side of the river, avoiding a large area of crystal-clear water. You recall your demons, take off your shoes, and take a seat on the edge of the pier. You let yourself enjoy the warmth of the sun for a few minutes, leaning back to lie against the old wood. You watch the clouds drift by for a bit before letting your eyes drift closed.
You start as something wraps around your ankle. You start to shoot up when you realize it's a hand. You sit up calmly as Waite breaks the surface. She stares up at you as she treads water. "Looking for me?" she asks. "I assume you want to talk some?"
You tell her you were.
Waite casually pulls herself halfway out of the water. She crosses her arms on your thighs, resting her head and staring up at you with a sly grin. "Sorry I'm late. I had some things to take care of." She closes her eyes. "Ah... I need a rest. You don't mind if I rest my eyes while we talk, right...? ...So what did you want to talk about...?"
(A) "It's fine if you want to rest, but could you get off me? It's a bit inappropriate..."
(B) "It's fine."
(C) (shove her off)
(D) (jump in the water with her)
(E) (rub her head)
(1) Talk about the fight with Sara
(2) Talk about becoming her apprentice
(3) (flirt)
(4) Say you didn't want to talk about anything in particular

You reach down and pat her head. She looks up with a faint hint of surprise, then closes her eyes again. "Ah... This is... nice."
You start to bring up becoming her apprentice, but she shushes you.
"Just let me enjoy this for a minute..." she says with a sigh. "It's been... so long..." She nestles tighter against you. You spend a few minutes lightly running your fingers through her hair, intently aware of her body pressing up against your legs. You notice her breathing change a bit and realize she's fallen asleep.
After a few minutes, you notice a faint stream of crimson spilling into the crystal-clear water. You shake Waite awake in a slight panic. She starts awake. "What's...!? O-oh... Kira. Did I doze off? Sorry. I must've been more tired than I thought."
You tell her that she's bleeding.
"Hm? Oh." She slides off you and waves her hand over her flank in a hard-to-follow pattern. "All better," she says. She wraps your legs in a hug and looks up at you. "So? What did you want to talk about?"
You tell her you decided you're interested in becoming her apprentice.
"Oh, are you now?" She tries - badly - to hide her excitement. She swims back a bit. "Well, alright then! But, uh, now may not be the best time to start your training. And try not to get into any trouble for a while, OK? A few hours, at least. And you can come back and start your training then. I'll be around. So, what type of magic do you want to learn first?"

You tell her you'd rather learn ice magic, but... what happened? "Hm? Oh, this is nothing. Barely even a scratch. Though I used quite a bit of energy killing them all." You ask her to clarify who she was killing. "Oh. You know. 'Them,'" she says nonchalantly. When you give her an intense stare she realizes she's not getting away with a mysterious, nebulous evasion of the question. She looks away dismissively. "Well, remember last night? Those guys that tried to kidnap you off to that alien planet? Led by that nasty little rat thing?" Yes, you... vaguely remember something like that happening. "I've been doing some investigating and hunting down survivors. You weren't just unlucky. You didn't just randomly wander into that inn, you were lead there. And I want to know why they're interested in you. But the members of their little... cult... have been decidedly stubborn." She flops over onto her back and floats peacefully. "Well, they die easily enough, at least. I'm just worried that they might come for you when I'm preoccupied or something..." She gives you a smirk. "And now I should be doubly worried, now that you're mine. Well, don't worry. I'll protect you... My cute, little apprentice." (A) "I'm not sure I'm entirely OK with that phrasing" (B) "You went alone? Take me along next time." (C) "On second thought, maybe I shouldn't do this..." (D) "Tell me as much as you can about these guys." (E) "We've still got some time before I need to go, what should we do in the meantime?" Demon fusion voting's still open |
