"My phone said there were a bunch of question marks out here. It seemed important," you explain.
"Oh! Yer talkin' 'bout that there... 'Fate' thing, ain'tcha? The thing what lets ya track where people are 'n' send messages an' whatnot?" George asks.
You nod.
"Oh... er, right... I oughta mention that you, er, got added ta my list. Oh, 'n' so was all yer friends. ...And that jackass from the Cobras. I noticed yer friend, the tall, pretty one what was all cut up, I saw she was movin' around. So I guess she's OK, then?" George asks.
You tell him your girlfriend's fine.
"Oh. Er. That's great!" he says. "Anyway... uh, buncha question marks? Maybe yer s'pposed ta meet..."
"Me?" A man pokes his head out from the back of the truck. He wears a brown flat cap, a red shirt, and blue overalls. His accent is noticeably southern, but much less pronounced than George's. "Want to introduce us, George?"
"Oh, right. Kira, this is Daniel Jones. Daniel, this here's Kira Dreama. She's the one I mentioned 'bout earlier," George says.
"Kira, huh? Nice to meet ya," Daniel says easily. He maneuvers around the truck and manages to slip his hand out the window.
You shake it and return the greeting.
"I should thank ya for helping George out earlier. Stop by some time tomorrow, I'll put a little something together for ya," Daniel says. "I'd love to stay and chat, Kira, but we've got an important meeting to get to."
"Talkin' with the military 'bout-" George begins.
Daniel gives him a enthusiastic pat on the back. "Yep! Real important meeting. Real secret, too," he says with a smile.
"Right, right..." George mutters. "Er... Anyway. Yeah. Like Daniel said. Stop by later, Kira. I'd love ta chat ya up sometime." With that, George gives you a wave and drives off.
You notice "Daniel Jones" has been added to your Fate list.
Fate with George reached Stage 1! His Fire and Curse resistance became strong. Kira makes her way to the hospital. The guards give her a look as she approaches, but they seem to know her face by this point. They shrug as she asks to be let inside and open the door. Kira makes her way into the hospital and calls the elevator, pretending to be much more confident than she truly is.
A few moments later, she raps on the door to the administrator's office. "Come in," Elise calls out. As you swing open the door, she seems surprised to see you. She calmly opens a drawer and slips the papers she was working on inside. "What are you doin' back here, then? Your little bird get herself hurt again? Or are you just that anxious to get your favor done?"
You tell her you just wanted to chat.
"A chat? Now that's a right queer request. Surely you don't think I'm that interesting? Or are you just that bored?" she says. "Well, so long as you don't mind me shuffling through these papers while we jaw, I can spare a wee bit of time." She takes the papers back out of her desk and starts flipping through them while she continues talking. You get the impression she's used to that sort of multi-tasking. "I'm afraid I'm not great when it comes to craic. What sort of things do people go on about nowadays?"

You ask Elise whether she's actually a nurse, or just wearing the uniform.
Elise seems rather annoyed at the question. "Ah, ya right eegit, o' course I'm a real nurse! What, ya think I'm just wearing this as a farce? Trying to lure in some right chancer for a quick rut? Nah, I'm no skag. Besides, ya saw me fixing your li'l bird up, remember? Or didja forget already?"
You take a minute to process what she's said. You're pretty sure it roughly translates to "duh."
You ask how long she's been at it.
"Oh, I'm pretty fresh hereabouts. Finished school back home a few years back, but just got my papers and certifications to work stateside. So many bloody hoops to jump through," Elise complains.
Does she work around here?
Elise shrugs. "I had a gig here, yeah, though I was planning to ship off for home soon enough. 'fore things went arseways, anyhow. So, what about you?" Fate with Elise McManus has reached Stage 1! Her Physical resistance became strong. "Well, I'll admit this little chat has been a gas," Elise says, "but I've got to get back to work. Trying to figure out who's going where, what we're doing, compiling reports. Honestly not much different than before, come to think of it, 'cept for the times I manage to get out from behind this desk and give some fools a savage baytin."
A knock comes from the door. "Get in here," Elise answers. "It's about bleedin' time Greg got in."
A man, very much not Gregory, pokes his head in. "Sorry to bother you, ma'am, but Gregory's still not back yet."
Elise sighs and pulls out her phone. "...And he's not showin' up on my phone. Damnable git... Well, Kira, guess I know what that favor you owe me's gonna be. Go find the fool and drag him home. Or find his corpse, either one. The fool was s'posed to check out the military base and head back, but knowing him, he could be anywhere."
You pull out your phone and check the map, hoping to see Gregory somewhere. Just as Elise says, he's not showing up. You ask Bast and Vorvadoss what it means.
"Either he turned his phone off, or he's dead," Vorvadoss answers.
You ask whether he would have died without you getting a vision.
"Well, he wasn't supposed to be alive, anyway," Bast says, more cruelly than she intends. "You haven't really been to sleep since you changed fate. And we wouldn't have been able to predict an already dead man's death to give you a warning, y'know?"
"He hasn't shown up for the last two hours," Vorvadoss points out.
...Well, nothing for it but to start searching. You message Kumiko and Rita to explain the situation, then ask them to meet you... Current time: 19:00

Slightly (1 sentence) extended the previous post. If anyone's not doing anything because they're afraid of killing Gregory, don't worry (too much). You've got a generous time limit, and you'll get more hints as time goes on.

You tell Rita and Kumiko to meet you downtown where you saved Kumiko earlier. You get there first. There's no sign of Gregory. The military's temporary camp is already gone. They left several signs up warning people that the area is dangerous and unstable. That hasn't deterred several tamers from scavenging from the destroyed and damaged buildings. Several demons are also in the area, but they're hesitant to do anything with all the experienced tamers in the area.
While you wait, you send Sara a message. Then you ask a few people if they'd seen a tamer that looked like Gregory. No luck.
Kumiko's the first to arrive, with Rita hot on her heels. You explain the situation to them in more detail. Rita nods in understanding, but Kumiko's mouth is stretched in a tight frown.
"So, we're off to save the guy who tried to kill us this morning?" she points out.
You ask if she'd rather piss off the entirety of the Cobras by not returning their favor.
"...Fair enough. So you said this Gregory guy was supposed to be scouting the military base? Why didn't we just meet there?" Kumiko asks.
You didn't want to meet right there in case there was trouble. And you figured it might be worth checking their temporary base.
"That makes sense," Rita says. "So, have you... looked around already?"
You tell her there's no sign of him, and none of the tamers have seen him.
"Of course not," Kumiko says dejectedly. "Well, let's get started, then."
You tell her to wait for a moment. A few seconds later, Sara responds to your message. She tells you she hasn't seen anyone like Gregory. As far as she knows, no one's been seen prowling around.
"Well, he's not there, then..." Rita says. "Probably not, anyway... He didn't really seem like the sneaky type."
"So, where should we look?" Kumiko asks. The time is 19:30.

You decide that it's worth checking out the military base. Even if he's not still there, you may be able to find some clues.
When you arrive, you find the fort surrounded. The tall, inner walls are made of some sort of heavy bricks that completely block any sight of what's going on. The shorter, outer wall is made of wood. Several guard posts line the chest-high wall, and several hastily-erected buildings sit between the two walls. As you approach the front gate, searchlights whip around and train on you, as do several rifles. A magnified voice tells you to stop where you are.
You stop and raise your hands quickly, and Rita and Kumiko follow suit. Rita whines slightly, clearly uncomfortable with the situation.
"It's alright, it's alright," a familiar voice calls out. "I know these tamers, they aren't a threat." Bart Jackson comes strolling out. "Hey, there, uh... Kira, was it?"
"Who's this?" Kumiko asks.
You introduce the three of them.
"So... What're you doing here?" Jackson asks. "You know you can't just come visit your love, light of your life, your Venusian goddess, whenever you like. Not while she's on duty, anyway."
You ask if he really needs to put it like that.
"Of course!" Jackson says with a smirk. "Don't worry, I give everyone the same treatment. Anyway, Sara's already in bed. And I'm really sorry to say this, but you really can't go join her. No non-military tamers past the outer wall. And no tamers at all past the inner wall, except a small group chosen by the general himself."
"We're... not here to talk to Sara," Rita asserts. "We're looking for... a man named Gregory..."
"He's a Cobra," Kumiko explains. "He was supposed to be checking in on you guys."
"...You're telling me you were sent to rescue a Cobra spy," Jackson says.
"Frankly, I'm hoping we're here to drag back a Cobra corpse," Kumiko says haughtily.
"Er... Right," Jackson says. "Uh... We haven't killed anyone around here today. Or captured anyone. What'd this guy look like?"
"Well, he's... kinda scary-looking..." Rita says.
"And a total jerk," Kumiko adds.
You give a more helpful description of a blonde-haired man, slightly above average height, with a small-but-muscular build, then go on to describe his outfit.
"Give me a few minutes." Jackson starts muttering into a radio. Most of it's just repeating the same question over and over, and you can't hear the answers, but you can assume most of them are negative, until he responds to one call a bit more violently. "Well why didn't you report it!?" he demands.
"Is... something wrong?" Rita asks.
"...Apparently, someone saw that guy skulking around the north side and didn't say anything. Because he didn't want to file paperwork. ...Well, I admit I kinda sympathize with that," Jackson admits.
"Is he still around?" Kumiko asks.
Jackson echoes the question into the radio, then parrots the answer back to you. "He left a while ago. Our guy on patrol did mention this Greg guy was upset. And he remembers overhearing him say something... something about..." He turns back to the radio. "What? Oh, training. Yeah, thanks, that's all I need to know. I'll yell at you later."
You thank Jackson for his help.
"Oh, yeah, don't mention it. No, really, don't. I shouldn't really be helping you help the Cobras. But, y'know. Friend of a friend. A very good friend of a friend. Oh, and I'll tell Sara you said hi." Jackson gives an off-hand wave as he heads back into the base.
"...Training?" Kumiko asks. "I guess he was pissed about this morning?"
"We... could try looking there," Rita suggests. "O-or somewhere else! Whatever you think is best... Just... somewhere that's not here... With all the guns pointed at us." The current time is 20:00

You head over to the hospital. Elise greets you at the gate. "And what are you doing back so soon?"
You tell her where you've been. You explain that you didn't see any sign of him at the military's temporary base set up at the blast site, so you headed over to their headquarters. Someone mentioned that he saw him poking around, then he ran off. You came by hoping he'd come back since then.
"I'd do ya the decency of sending you a message if he'd come back. You're on my fa- hm. There's queer." She looks at her phone with a bemused look. "Looks like those li'l birds you brought are on my fate list, too. Oi, Nodens, what's with that list, anyway?"
"They're people who will be important to your quest," a regal voice announces.
"Hm. Guess I should make nice, eh? Elise McManus, at your service," she says with a small bow.
"Oh... Um... I-I'm Rita... Rita Stellar..." Rita says, partially hidden behind your back.
"Kumiko Hane," she says tersely.
"Oh, still a bit miffed about this morning, then?" Elise asks. "Nothing personal, y'know. Eh, tell ya what. If you ever run into trouble with my lads again, tell them you're under my protection."
Kumiko grunts noncommittally. "Fine."
"Well, guess that's the best I can expect after trying to kill you," Elise says with a grin. "Anyway, you lot get back to finding Gregory. You said the eegit was going on about training? He wouldn't shut his gab going on about this morning."
"Kira," Vorvadoss cuts in. "I feel like I should mention that George's phone just shut off."
"What? Where was he?" Kumiko asks.
"The... Outside of town, near that... F-farm place, I think..." Rita stammers. "But it looked... like he was leaving."
"Who's this George fellow?" Elise asks.
"The one who fought Gregory this morning," Kumiko explains.
"Well, I'd say ya've got yourselves a clue," Elise smirks. "Get on it." The current time is 20:30

I'd say B actually. Sounds like George was leaving. Almost sounds like they're heading to a rematch, and their last showdown was at the city hall.

Gregory sits impatiently on the steps before City Hall. A Jack Frost approaches, and he gives it a death glare. The Jack Frost whimpers and runs away with a sad "Ho, no."
George steps around the corner, and Gregory leaps up. "Hey, you actually had the balls to come. I was just about to give up and leave."
"What'dya want, ya jerk?" George asks.
"Fight me!" Gregory demands bluntly.
"Wha-"
"No demons, no spells, no one to get in our way!" Gregory yells. "Just you and me!"
"Wha... What? Ya call me all the way out here because... ya wanna fight!?" George asks angrily. "I thought ya were tryna drag me into ambush or some bull!"
"What? I'm an honorable man, you jackass!" Gregory yells.
"The Hell you are, ya dang, dirty thief! You wanna fight? Fine! I'll knock yer dang head off!"
Gregory smirks, tossing his overcoat aside to reveal a white dress shirt. "Let's go, then!" Gregory rushes at George, jumping into a kick.
George raises his arms, clumsily swinging his arms and casting Gregory aside. Gregory rolls out of the impact, then turns to attack. George presses his advantage, throwing a wild haymaker. Gregory stops his swing with a palm to his bicep, then thrusts in a with a jab. George slumps backwards, shakes off the hit, and comes back in swinging. After a few minutes of going back and forth, it's clear George is taking a lot more hits, but he's shrugging them off.
George takes a few steps back, and Gregory backs off as well. The two take a few seconds to pant, wipe the sweat and blood from their brow... George is the one to rejoin the fight, charging to tackle Gregory. Gregory drops to his back and catches George with a powerful kick. George grunts in pain as he goes sailing, slamming into a lamppost.
"You... dead?" Gregory pants. George groans and coughs as he falls to the ground. "Good." Gregory pulls out his phone and boots it up. "Moh Shuvuu. Diarama." The young bird-girl springs from his phone, casting a healing spell on Gregory. "Him, too." She turns around and heals George, as well.
George staggers to his feet. "Wha... What?"
"Thanks," Gregory says. He turns and starts to walk away without another word.
A man emerges from the shadows, his face hidden under a hood. Silently, he pulls a phone from a pouch on his waist. He presses a few buttons, then tosses it to the ground. Then he pulls out another.
"Who're you?" Gregory demands. The man doesn't answer, tossing another phone to the ground and pulling out another. "What do you think you're doing!?" Another phone. "Say something, you-"
The man pulls out a fifth phone and taps some buttons. He tosses it between George and Gregory. Demons suddenly begin to erupt from the phones, cutting Gregory off. Miasma slowly begins to flood the area.
"Wha... Who the... Dagnabit, them phone's're goin' berserk!" George asks. "Did that guy do this!?"
"Obviously!" Gregory yells. "Get up! ...And where do you think you're going!?"
The hooded man stops in his tracks. He glances over his shoulder. A smirk is just visible beneath the hood. Gregory tries to rush at him, but a pair of Nekomata from the phones block him. Gregory unleashes a string of profanity as the hooded figure slinks off into an alley.
Kira, Kumiko, and Rita arrive on the other side of the street. George is picking himself up, and doesn't even have his phone ready. A pair of berserk phones sit between George and Gregory. Gregory's ready for a fight, but another phone's right at his feet. The last two are several yards away from him.
"Ugh... Kira? Rita, Kumiko? What're ya'll doin' here?" George asks in surprise.
"Talk later, fight now!" Gregory orders.
"Kira! We can only hold 4 people on a network at once," Bast warns.
"Someone's going to have to sit out... Or fend for themselves," Vorvadoss advises.
(A) Let George handle himself (B) Let Gregory handle himself (C) Have Rita sit out (D) Have Kumiko sit out

Frequent reminder that friendly... Wait.
Right. Characters won't actually die in battle unless they all die in battle, or in a few special cases. And you'll always be warned. Speaking of,
Gregory can die in this battle.
And while we're on the subject of mechanics, 2 new - well, "new" ones will introduced be explained and become active after this battle. That's mostly a reminder to myself.
Should I let ya'll in on a little secret...? Nah, not yet. I'll tell you when it's more dramatic.
