My turn! I draw! I summon Vanguard of the Dragon in attack mode, and now I activate his special ability! I can send 1 Dragon Type monster from my hand to my graveyard to give this card an extra 300 ATK points until the End Phase! I banish Stardust Xiaolong to the graveyard, raising my monster's ATK points to 2000! I place three cards face down and end my turn! My turn. Draw! From my hand, I activate my Cold Wave spell card! Now whatever you must have set to counter what I might summon is useless. And I will activate the effect of my monster, Montage Dragon! By sending Gorz the Emmissary of Darkness, Dark Nepthys, and Tragoedia from my hand to the graveyard, I can special summon Montage Dragon to the field, while giving him 7800 ATK. I think so... I'll check in a bit. I'm about to go hunt Gravios again anyway. Oh, and about the military thing. Here's my theory. The MH series takes place in a post apocalyptic era. Modern civilization collapsed a couple thousand years before the original MH's timeline, by an unknown calamity from the sky, known only as 'Aura'. This being was thought to be from a different dimension, and its awe inspiring power nearly brought humanity to extinction. Aura suddenly fled however, before it could finish the job, and no one knows why. In order to help humanity survive, the 'United Hall of Peoples' was formed by the surviving world leaders.They became the driving force that would usher humanity into a new era. The UHP, or 'The Guild' for short, theorized that it was humanity's vast technology that lured Aura to their world, as the being seemed to thrive by devouring all sources of energy. In order to prevent the same mistake from happening again, the Guild decided to lead humanity back into simpler times, to a life of hunting and gathering. But people were not so easily swayed; After all, humans are creatures of comfort. So, the Guild brought their greatest minds together under one roof, and they hatched a cunning, but evil plan: They would experiment on humans using the few samples of the creature Aura, and turn them into monsters. The monsters would then hunt the humans, and the people would look to the Guild for help in their terror. They would be willing to do anything the Guild said. However, the Guild's supply of Aura Samples did not last, and they eventually had to use replicas, which created inferior monsters. But the monsters created with the original samples evolved at a terrifying rate. The Guild classified these terrifying new giants as 'Elder Dragons'. |

Well, my head canon is the my huntress is the half-sister of my 3U protagonist. Obviously, the only true OTP is male hunter x guild sweetheart, But, new game, so not far enough in to ship.
My thinking is that this takes place in the cities that 3U kept talking about. Anyway, both children went their separate roads in the hunting department. One couldn't stand cities, and went to Moga; where he became the hero!
The other went to the cities, and... I'll know te further I get in. All I know is that his sister is OP. Once again redheads prove their superiority!
As for story? Well, since this is a parallel, and me and my friend were talking about it earlier yesterday, I'm thinking the world of MH is really nothing but tribes. Taking in the advanced weaponry, it's probably around our modern era; just the humans knowing a few more advanced things. With monsters constantly roaming, it probably makes it tough to have cities, so they broke off into tribes all over the world.
I'm thinking hunters were founded primarily because no travelers could travel without being attacked. Hell, I'm placing my bet is that Elder Dragons actually gave 'birth' to the submonsters like Jaggi, whom in turn gave birth to their own subspecies. Elder Dragon subspecies probably resulted from breeding with other Elder Dragon's where problems went wrong; hence differrent powers and colors of them.
The thing I like about games like this, is that you can make up canon for your characters. That's all I got, really. Shipping takes a back burner in games like this because it lacks protagonists. Your hunter is the only one. But maybe... Just maybe... The Guildmarm is attracted to the huntress!
Bam! Huzzah!
Alright, I'll stop with shipping the hunters with their job supplies. Swear those quotes in 3U were towards shipping material!!!!!

The MC isn't the only protagonist in 4U. There are several protagonists. Also, there are cities in the MH universe. There are quite a few of them actually, you just haven't seen any yet.
And what advanced weaponry are you talking about? Since when are swords and bows advanced?

But Bowguns are just fancy Crossbows, and those have been around for hundreds of years. They're not exactly M4 Automatic Rifles. And cannons have been around for almost a thousand years.

Some of the heavy bowguns are pretty much anti-tank rifles.
Plus, you also have stuff like the switch axe.
