I am happy to announce the grand opening of the Verse's very own Guild Hall! Here we talk about everything Monster Hunter. You can ask questions, set up a quest in 4U, or just shoot the breeze. I will endeavor to make this topic a virtual encyclopedia as well, containing helpful info about the series.
To start us off, I will post a report on my hunting progress today. I finished the second village in 4U and began the third village. I successfully hunted 1 Nerscrylla, 2 Congalalas, 1 Gendrome, 1 Lagombi, 1 Basarios, 12 Zamites, multiple Slagtoths, Congalas, Rhens, and other smaller monsters, and I repelled 1 Gore Magala. I upgraded my Tetsucabra armor, and my current skills are now Health Up(20), Defense Up(S), and Auto Guard. I'm currently using the Defender CB. I also upgraded my palicos' equipment, and hired two new Palicos.
I ended my day of hunting just before taking on Mr Shark, and will do so tomorrow.

My hunting day in 3U consisted of doing HR missions. Suffered humiliating defeat at the tail of Pink Rathian...

Pink Rathian is easy once you learn her patterns, just like any monster. She only has a couple new attacks, so as long as you avoid her tail flips and tatsumaki(spinning side tail flip) then you're golden.
You aren't alone though. Pink Rathian tends to be a wake up call for a lot of people. She's the first monster in High Rank that can be really dangerous.

That darn snake Najarala is as annoying as ever... Be careful when you get to it GX, Naja can be a wall to new hunters.

They gave LR Rathian her double tail flip, homing tail flip, and nuke... She has everything HR Pink Rath does, except the tatsumaki, triple tail flip, and combo...
.... Why on earth would you do that, Capcom?! They also made her hit harder... She didn't hit like that in 4. For the first time since Freedom Unite, a LR Rathian actually gave me some trouble. That's kinda crazy.

Whelp, it's finally time to farm Magalas... Which means hunting for Gore Magala Plates... Yay.

All I need now to complete the armor is two more feelers... And I need 4 more feelers to forge Magala's LS and CB. So I only have to hunt him 6 more times, which makes for a grand total of 10 hunts for his armor and two of his weapons.
Wow. He's actually really easy to farm. I'm so used to monsters like Stygian, Brachy, Ala, and Fatalis, taking 30-50 hunts to make their stuff... This is a really nice change of pace.

Dang it... I killed Magala before I could break his horns, meaning no feeler. Ah well. I carved another Plate off his body, which I'll happily accept as a consolation prize.

I can't rename my Palico? But he earned a new name. Whatever. To me, he will from now on be known as Tetsucabra Bait.

Now you know my pain, GX. So anyway... Very long day of hunting. But it was a good one. That's the only good thing about having a cold: I get to stay in bed and play Monster Hunter. Large monsters successfully hunted today: 1 Zamtrios, 2 Najaralas, 4 Rathians, 8 Gore Magalas, 2 Gravios, 1 Berserk Congala Small monsters successfully hunted today: way too many to count. I forged all of the Magala armor, upgraded a couple of my weapons, and made it to the final village. I passed the 100,000 Zenny mark, and saw the introductory cutscene for Shagaru Magara. Tomorrow, I will finish the main story of the LR village, hunt Shagaru, and start farming his armor.

I did beat Tetsucabra on my first try, with no assistance other than one Palico, and without fainting. That's got to count for something, right?
...right?

But so did I, and look how much trouble he still have me. If I've learned anything over the course of my hunting career, it's that the first hunt is always the easiest. It's the 2nd and 14th time that are hard.

Things done: Not much down with my main male character, a few done with my Heavy Bowgun Female side character, and trying to master the weapon along with dodging well as attacking from afar.
Also, can anyone tell me why the female characters get booty shorts?
Like, the Hunter gear, and the bone vest... I know they're trying to sell the game, but...

I now have a new least favorite monster. Incredibly enough, a monster has been able to knock Tetsucabra off the #1 slot, and in only one hunt to boot.
Yian Garuga. I hate that thing with a burning passion.

How feasible is it to farm Nerscyllas to make a weapon and the full set of armor? Will it take forever or possibly drive me insane?

They gave Rathalos poison attacks... Well, at least he has a new theme.

How feasible is it to farm Nerscyllas to make a weapon and the full set of armor? Will it take forever or possibly drive me insane? Nah, it's not that bad. This is still Low Rank, so most armors and weapons are fairly easy to make. Scylla doesn't have a Plate, or any rare item IIRC, so you should be able to do that in only a couple hunts. As long as you're comfortable fighting him, it should give you very little trouble. Actually, the only thing that I can think of that would trouble you at all is breaking Scylla's poison pincers. Scylla's pincers are armored, and IIRC, he only reveals them in rage mode.

They gave Rathalos poison attacks... Well, at least he has a new theme. Rathalos has always had a poison attack. His feet talons inflict it unless you mean his tail now. Also, it takes forever to kill Querepeco with the bone heavy bowgun. Is it me or does killing and carving take forever was a gunner? Also do shots like poison shot for heavy bowngun depend on what rare type your weapon is? Rare 1 and etcetera?
