Aerial style is horrible on Ala for the same reason it's horrible on Amatsu. He's resistant to mounting, and the vast majority of his most dangerous attacks are AoE attacks centered around him. With how fast he is, especially in Rage mode, if you're busy trying to mount him, you won't have any time at all to get away or dodge. He'll swat you out of the air like a fly and then combo you, and boom, you're dead. Even with the best armor, all it takes is two or three hits from Ala. And several of his attacks can easily OHKO you.
His flying Lightning Charge is the best example of this, at least where he's concerned. If you're in the middle of jumping on him when he does it, and you don't have crazy good lightning resistance, then you're dead. Simple as that.
For Amatsu, staying close to him all the time is a generally bad idea. But especially if you're constantly jumping on him. If he windshears you in the middle of a jump, and then does his gravity vortex -> hurricane combo, it's an automatic OHKO with anything less than 650~ defense and 150 health.

I'm relearning Hunting Horn and Hammer finally. I started a new save for it, but I couldn't even get through one quest before getting bored with the horrible slowness at the start, so I farmed Narga for his weapons and finally upgraded my Lance. I'm gonna use Silverwind for all of my Blademaster weapons since I'm only using Adept for my LBG.

So, remember how I said you can attack monsters while another player is riding them now and it helps fill the gauge? And you guys told me I was wrong? Well, I was actually right. Only Finishing Moves and Hunter Arts interrupt the ride now. So things like LS Spirit Slash, GS Lv 3 Charge, and Sakura/Brimstone Slash. In fact, for some monsters you actually need other players to help you.
Dreadking Rathalos, while in Rage mode, is impossible to ride solo.

It's still better to not attack the monster though, since you can sharpen weapons, use might seeds, etc. in the meantime.

I just got 4 Rajang Nerves from a double Furious Rajang hunt.
I hate Rajang. His AI is so frustrating since it just constantly leaps around and its movement deals just as much damage as its punches and lasers.

Just fought my first ever Silverwind Narga solo. Took me 40 minutes and I carted once, but I got the job done. I'm horribly rusty and went in badly underprepared though.
But I've decided I want Silver's armor. Crow, Lurk, wanna help me farm Silver sometime?

I already got my full set.
He's awful to fight as well, especially when you have to capture him. Not too bad gunning though. Just don't ever fight him with GL or GS. He never stands still long enough to do much.

Dammit all... I only need 1 more Cuttlebone... Tried to hunt Nakky with randoms, got DC'd and they left without me...
Also, yeesh. Mind's Eye with Bludgeoning and the Tigrex GS is devastating.

Bludgeoning isn't worth it. It only gives +15 attack at Green Sharpness, so anything with Natural Blue hurts when using it over any other offensive skill.
Silvie was the toughest monster for me to learn. I might be able to help you, but I'm on my way to New York so it'll be quite a while before I get to the hotel.
Nakky hunts are a breeze with explosive weapons like Gunlance and Lost Musket.

What weapon is best to use against Silvie?

I can't say that there's a real best, but definitely not GL or GS (unless you're one of those psychic GS users) because they're so slow and he doesn't stay still for long enough to get the big damage on him.
Aerial IG and Adept DS should be good. He's really weak to lightning on his wings and tail.
I primarily used HH to support when playing with a team since it can dodge readily out of its attacks. Though at higher ranks, I used LBG to rack up damage and stay safe. He hits fast but not as hard as Hellblade.

Soloing Silvie 1 takes me 25-26 minutes and most of my healing items with Adept or Striker Asty LS. I would maybe look for some randoms to hunt with, but I'm tired and I have lots of YT vids to watch and I can't play online in my room.

I just knocked Silvie out of the sky with the Adept LS dodge slash. He jumped and promptly fell back down. It was so perfect. And then I promptly got comboed and nearly carted.
