Anyways, you could also try the Prowler (you play as a Palico). It's probably the most unique, but damage on it is low without a specific set-up. However, it removes item dependence and gives you some great support abilities for group hunts (better than Hunting Horn in many ways). Plus, you play as a kitty and that's nice too.

GX, you should check out the Wycademy Blades. It's got a ton of Sharpness, Decent Raw (110) and some nice Blast (7) at Rank 1.

Actually, it upgrades poorly. The Pure Yukumo duo is good, but the Heroic Twins is excellent if you get some more Affinity (180 Raw at max, but 40% natural affinity and white Sharpness)

Is it possible to increase HR when doing multiplayer or can you only do that single player

It's multiplayer. There's Guild quests, which are designed to be played with others, and then there are Village quests, which are strictly solo.
Guild Quests are exclusive to the Hunter's Hub.

Alright, X. Multiplayer 101.
When someone mounts a monster, stop attacking it or you'll knock them off.
If someone's backing off from a monster and they're low health, try to get its attention. If someone's backing off from a monster and the monster's low health and it's a Capture mission, back off.
Ping when you find the monster. Or at least throw a paintball.
And make sure everyone's eaten and readied up before you start a mission.
Das it.
If we're hunting tonight catching you up, I'll probably play support so you can practice more.

Earlier today I was thinking about a weapon idea I thought of long ago that doesn't really fit any of the same playstyles as others.
Basically, it's just a big shield, much bigger than a Lance shield, but it had a glove or similar gauntlet. By blocking, the Shield stores energy similar to the Switch Axe gauge in that it doesn't deplete. The gauntlet is then used to attack, with X attacks being normal comboes with A attacks being strong hits using the gauge which would have properties based off of the phial of the weapon (exhaust, Dragon, Element, etc). In addition, R+X would do a shield bash which does low damage but has higher KO value (both the shield and glove deal KO damage), R+A would charge the shield slowly without blocking, and R+X+A would do a charge attack like the GL's Wyvern fire. It can dodge roll when not blocking since it lacks range, and while blocking, it can dodge-step instead for quick movement.
I just hope the next MH game introduces a new Defense-oriented weapon, really.

I gotta unpack some stuff and I don't know what sort of family stuff I'll be roped into tonight, but I should be game, at least later.
I'm thinking of maybe switching to LBG or going back to Blademaster, but I'm not sure. HBG is good, but it's not fun solo and Bow feels like it's getting a bit repetitive since there's really only one attack.

Aerial Bow style's so badass, though. "Crow, are you using the bow as a close-range weapon?" "Maybe."

Aerial HBG is cooler but even more dangerous.

Gypceros is one of the few monsters that's always obnoxious to hunt, no matter how easy you can kill it. I just had one fake death 3 times. ****ing. Drama. Queens.

I just spent 45 minutes on a 3-monster hunt. To fail. When Ratholos 120-to-0 combo'd me. I'm redoing the hunt with my axe instead. I'm waiting for that *****-ass Rathalos to show up, 9 minutes in.
I can hunt when I get my revenge.
