I'm going to switch between bow and axe and sword.
Spoilers, though. I've been using a bow and frequently had single-digit funds.
Speaking of switch axe. Aerial style. First I was annoyed with the lack of axe-thrust. But the aerial attack made me think it might be worth. Also it has XA-A-R-R as the axe-to-sword combo. Which is a nice bonus.
But it can't use the sword's XA phial burst and IF I CAN'T EXPLODE MY SWORD THEN WHAT IS EVEN THE POINT. WORST STYLE. Never again.
What's the Gammoth quest? I need some of them sweet, sweet teeth.

You can phial burst while in the air with Aerial style.

The elder of Pokke Village gives you a quest to gather Popo Tongues after you beat Khezu in 3*. All the 4 Flagships have quests much earlier on than when you're actually supposed to fight them, that they appear as surprise invaders. I remember from Cross that Gammoth has a cutscene with Popos.
I might be able to beat him in the timelimit, if I go Adept LS, because I have a really good weapon for this point in the game and decent defense, meaning I might be able to survive a hit or two. Also cause I'm really experienced at MH and I've seen videos of him from Cross.
But for you Crow, I'd recommend you just wait until you get his proper urgent. At like 5 or 6 star.

So if you have Moofy as a pet she'll hop up onto the bed while you snooze. So cute.

You can phial burst while in the air with Aerial style. Yeah... Yeah, you can. But it feels so awkward. Even trying to land it on a toppled velocodrome was... It's like you gain the ability to topple anywhere at the cost of the best part of toppling. Aerial's stupid powerful, but so... unwiedly and imprecise. And that's coming from the guy swinging the giant axe like a top.

For Bow, go Bushido. It's crazy good, giving instant Level 3 Charge on a successful insta-dodge.

And I just realized that Great Jaggi isn't in this game.
And instead we get the awful Dromes.
I wish they used the 3rd Gen replacement monsters more. They were just better designed and were more interesting in general (Uragaan is a more fun Gracious, Great Jaggi is a more fun Velocidrome, Qurupeco is a more fun Yuan Kut-Ku, Nibelsnarf is a better Cephadrome, etc). I'd even take the return of underwater combat if that was the price to pay.

Shortly after the music ends an exclamation point will show up over her head. Hit A as soon as it does. You now have a pet moofah.

And now I'm actually wishing I could dive into the water in the Deserted Island.
I'm having nostalgia tears just thinking about it and that never happens.

They brought back a lot of monsters from 3rd gen.

Gammoth just has so much health to chew through. I managed to get him to a pattern shift, I think, but he also has at least 2 attacks that do about 80%.
And I don't know how I could tell if he's limping with that walk cycle.
Why does my Wild Axe need Gammoth teeth...!?

The one-time encounters in those quests have 3x the normal amount of HP.
And Neo, that's why I used "more". The Ggis are better Dromes and aren't there, Nerscylla is completely absent, Barioth and Barroth are missing, etc. Barroth was really cool because of the unique strategy of surviving rage mode and breaking the wing-spikes to cripple it and render it helpless.

I now have a pet Moofah! She's so adorable! You can do the same thing again when petting her, and she followed me out fo the house last time I did it. But really, you have to sleep on your bed there to see how cute it is that she takes a nap with you.

GAHGAGAGAHARGH. I now have a new least favorite monster. Soloing Blangonga is utter hell. I won in 20 minutes and didn't cart, but goddammit. I HATE that thing. It really is like fighting a mini Rajang. I ended up using 9 First Aid Meds(9!!!), 7 potions, and 3 mega potions. That's freaking insane.
