Don't worry, I'm in the same boat... I've been having that same problem for weeks, months even.

...
......
.........
What kind of undergarments are people in this presumed time period typically supposed to wear? Don't just say "loincloth" because the question also applies to womens' tops and I don't think Soul Calibur was being historically accurate with their girls wearing panties and bras.

Wraps.
Some areas have some forms of elastics, but cotton wraps would be the most common.

I finally posted! *Crashes from lack of sleep* You should be more like me, Smexy. I had two hours of sleep, and twenty minutes of weird limboness, where I was asleep enough to dream, but not fully asleep. I was somehow in rem sleep, yet I was conscious that I wasn't actually asleep. It turns out, limbo dreams are extremely wierd. But also kinda cool. Also, I get up at 4:00am tomorrow. Hmm... I wonder if I can consciously try to enter limbo again...

In that state, I'm always aware of what was going on around me. It was cool, until that time when a spasm made my back go limp and then it locked up in that position, resulting in terrible pain. I wasn't awake enough to move, but I felt the pain, and I couldn't even scream, though I tried. It was horrible. Back on topic, thanks for posting. I'll try to respond soon, but I have to go to a chorus concert first.

Wow GX... That's kinda scary. I'm glad you're alright. I don't think I want to limbo dream anymore though...

Does Shinryu have ninjas or assassins? I have something planned for the seven year time skip....

The only 'Ninjas' in Shiryu are the Resh-Maltook, or Light Walkers. The Light Walkers are a government organization of elite operatives, lead by the twelve Silencers, each named after the twelve deities of the Shiryuan pantheon. Every Great House in Shiryu has one Silencer affiliated with their family.
Unlike a Ninja, who's primary purpose is to defend his lord and sow rebellion, the Walkers and Silencers are basically the 'Law Enforcers' in Shiryu. While petty disputes are often handled by minor dignitaries, larger crimes like murder are handled by the Walkers. They compile evidence, and if one of the Silencers finds that person guilty, that criminal is either executed or shipped off to the off shore mines for a sentence of hard labor. Any crimes that need to be dealt with swiftly, and/or swept under the rug, are handled only by the Silencers. However, most of the Silencers are corrupt.

So could there be a city with an assassins guild or something similar to that? You know, on the down low and secretive in one of them?

No. The Walkers have no reason to be secretive. They are respected and feared by the general populace, and operate in the open, much like the FBI. Only the Silencers operate covertly, and because of this, they don't have anything like a guild. That would defeat the purpose of a covert operation.

I love contingency plans. I knew the answer was most likely no, so I made up a sub plot.
