The Realm of Austur Discussion Topic 2: Chatting Mad

*knows what I want to post. Can't work up the will to type it* I need to start drinking again.

I'm about to use last resort tactics in order to get Austur moving again. My plan is for me to type a post that very loosely describes what happens in the current battle, mainly showing how it ends, but leaving so many plot points cryptic. We would write for the parts of the fight that use those plot points in flashbacks for our characters, at our own pace, covering those points when they're needed. We could then have a timeskip, start a new topic as episode 2 so it's like the end of a chapter and there is some closure, and move on with our lives. Golurk should be the only one who will have to resort to filler while SMEX isn't around, but he was going to have to resort to filer in the next arc anyway. Bottom line, the only thing that changes is not knowing the entire story of what happened at the monastery immediately, and there's no more gridlock except for people working with SMEX.

Anyone opposed to this plan? Golurk, text SMEX and see what he says. Tell him I'll cover the end of the current arc and then he can come back to it when he's able to.

But I need Smex, GX. In order to start the Gorgath arc(Where Vincent first meets Elia), Vincent has to meet Alucard. And in order for that to happen, Silver has to be brought to the Lake Palace and introduced to her real parents, as well as Nivian. I need Smex for this arc, as he has to write for all his major PCs(Alucard, Nivian, Rhea etc), and I've been planning the Silver arc with him.

And if the Silver arc doesn't happen, we can't move forward. For reasons both you and Golurk are aware of.

I am being completely serious. Unless we manage to bring Smexy back, I agree that this is the only way to keep Austur alive.

Pros? Austur survives, and we can finally move on. Everyone is happy.

Cons? Hmm... Writing flashbacks can be a bit dicey, as they're often a hit or a miss. They're like dream sequences that way. They're either very moving and emotional moments, or corny pieces of 3rd rate trash. There is rarely any middle ground. As such, they can often spark bouts of WB, which completely defeats their purpose in this sense. However, I cannot think of an alternative at this time, so that is something the individual writers will have to deal with.

If you want anything more specific, you'll have to wait until tomorrow. I'm in the middle of a meeting, and I won't get home until around 10:00.

If he can somehow work it out that the person that Smexy was going to use I can use instead. I have the PMs that I can go off of for a general outline. But that would have to be approved by either Smex or Neo.

I now regret using pre-timeskip Irving for Oz.
