HHD's playthrough of Fire Emblem: Awakening

Intermission: Support Time Bonus Round.

So I just discovered Reeking Boxes. I took this opportunity to get a LOT of supports made. Also, Kellam is now a General. Cherche is a Wyvern Lord. Vaike is a Warrior. Virion is a Bow Knight. Gaius is a trickster. I chose these ones basically for variety. I wanted Cherche to keep her dragon.

Gregor and Nowi B-ranked and it's..not something I'm planning on following. Gregor and Miriel isn't as silly as I had hoped, and seems more like a forced way to end up in a marriage. Gregor and Cherche though...on Gregor's side this is exactly what I was hoping to get from these supports. I still don't know anything about Cherche though. If Gregor is a flirt, I'm very happy he isn't putting moves on Nowi.

Gaius and Nowi C-rank...ahaha he prefers older women. Now this has promise, and could potentially rescue Nowi's character for me. I'm going to follow this up. Also, candy lover and loli just fit so well together. Nowi and Vaike also reached C and...he's going to help her be less pessimistic...? Nowi doesn't exactly seem like a character who would need that, but I'm thankful for the development. I think I'll try this one out too. None of these guys are my main units so I'm only using them in skirmishes for supports anyways.

Lissa and Henry C-ranked, and he's going to help her sleep better. Huh. No chemistry as usual but at least this is a side of Lissa I haven't seen. I was going to put Henry with Cordelia though so...hrm. Virion and Panne C-ranked...and Panne is going to mount him is her warren. I don't see a future in this. Olivia and Kellam are C-ranked too, which has promise for Olivia but not Kellam. Olivia likes baking desserts? I should pair her up with Gaius.

And finally, Sully and Stahl are S rank. Long live the Bull and Panther. And with another S rank comes another...oh. Wait. I'll need the parents along on this one and they're both fightfully weak. Eh...I'll give it a shot.

Paralogue 8: A Duel Disgraced

Hi Kjelle. You're sure...blandly honourable.

Oho, I don't need to bring Sully or Stahl? Awesome! It's too bad that Say'ri doesn't get support since she's a cornerstone of my team now. Are they seriously trying to threaten Kjelle with Archers? I can take my time getting there I suppose.

I stepped on a support sparkly with Noire and Tharja, which is reassuring to say the least. The mission was pretty easy. I cleared everyone out and then started grinding Olivia by dancing on Gaius, and yes that is exactly what it sounds like.

Sully's first order of business is to ask about her future, which I'm surprised doesn't happen with the others as much. Her and Sully's interactions are as normal as ever, although I wonder why they decided to focus on horse-riding. Unfortunately I don't know enough about Stahl to see if they adapted him into Kjelle's father support well.

Gaius and Olivia ranked up as expected. Olivia is very dere...I don't know enough about tropes to know what-dere, but she's dere alright. From the sounds of it...they're just copying Sumia and Chrom here. Eh, I'll keep trying different people out.

Chapter 18: Sibling Blades

Chrom doesn't know what a volcano is. Such a good King. Someone better fall into it. Cliches have to be followed through! Maribelle has fallen out of my party in favor of some of my newer units like Say'ri and Noire.

Ooh lava terrain. A change in the formula, I like this. I hope it happens more often from here on out. It only really started being a bother though nearing the end. Anyways, time for Say'ri to attack her brother. Apparently he has a 0% chance of hitting her. Plot reasons? Anyways, GG.

Was the intent to make Excellus look toad-like? And from the looks of Say'ri in my party, Yen'fay seriously did not have to worry about his sister.

I think the game would be a lot more interesting if Lucina was the main character. But that's just me.

Some Paralogues opened up, but I gotta stop and actually get stuff done today so...yeah. TTFN and all that.

Paralogue 17: The Threat of Silence

Looks like I gotta defend Tiki. Hey Kellam! You're un-retired! Noire, Lissa, Maribelle, get in the middle!

They all seem to have an inexplicable attraction to attacking Lon'qu when they have a 0% hit chance, allowing him to slice them up, or Noire behind him to counter attack and oneshot them with an arrow. On the other side, anything with range is targeting Lissa, but either her dodge is high enough or Libra has an exceedingly high rate of blocking attacks for her. Either way, they all wrecked themselves on me, and I now have a Tiki.

Not surprisingly, Libra and Lissa went up a support rank. And...they're kinda cute. Makes me want to see the A rank at least. Let's see...Henry, Gaius, or Libra...

but first, another Paralogue! And there's only one S-rank I haven't gotten the child of yet.

Paralogue 9: Wings of Justice

He's supposed to be Chrom? ...is this like Clark Kent in reverse? Hi Cynthia. And oh god she's Sumia 2.0...*shudder* Maybe even worse for thinking this guy is Chrom. If you do Chrom/Sumia does she think this guy is her DAD?

I think I'll bring Frederick along for this one, even though he's outclassed. I'm considering making him a Paladin, but I think I might let someone else do that.

Side note: Donnel double proccing Sol and having the second one also critical is just a biiit too much YEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAWing.

...eugh, Cynthia killed herself on Sumia. Let's try that again.

...nope, killed herself on Frederick too. Now this is an interesting puzzle, how NOT to kill an enemy with units this strong.

Now I recruited her. Now I can't get her far away enough to not get killed instantly by archers. My nemesis...archers...OH WAIT! Rescue staffs! Yay, one big happy family again. Now lets strap her to Say'ri to keep her safe from those bow totting terrorizers. Smooth sailing here on out.

Ehehe...Sumia is shocked that she dies...yeah sorry about that early game. They're cute, but I would have liked to see a different dynamic than "birds of a feather". I guess they're allowed one.

Support Time!

Cynthia and Frederick C-rank has absolutely nothing to do with Frederick. Cynthia and Sumia C-rank and...Sumia is the most famous Pegasus knight ever? What happens to Cordelia? Now I have to get her S-ranked to someone to see what her kid makes of this. I totally want to see bloodthirsty Sumia as described by Cynthia.

I got Robin and Morgan's B rank now. I don't get Morgan's obsession with pranks...doesn't he have amnesia? Shouldn't we be focusing on that and learning about him?

I wanna recruit more children. So that means I need to decide on my pairings and get those S ranks.

Lissa and Gregor C-rank. Lissa hates lemons and certain kinds of sausage. *snrk* Not interested in pursuing this one.

Cherche and Gaius C ranked and...I still haven't learned anything about Cherche. Just Gaius. I should give Cherche/Virion a try.

Let's go another level.

Lissa and Vaike B-rank. This is more of a Vaike/Chrom support than anything. It's like Maribelle/Chrom. Hey maybe I should do that, and get Maribelle/Lissa and Vaike/Chrom by proxy.

Libra and Olivia C-rank, which is cute, but focuses more on a "thing" than the people like in most other supports. Cherche and Virion C-rank...and I learned nothing new about either of them. Who else can I try? Cherche/Kellam? Cherche/Vaike?

Finally, Henry and Cordelia hit S-rank...and I'm glad I did it. They're adorbs. And that means...

Paralogue 10: Ambivalence

Hey, it's a Nelson (Nova-ites will understand)! Hi Severa. Question: why are ALL the children so far daughters? Besides Morgan.

I'm going to take Tiki out for a spin this round. I almost forgot I had her. As for the other children, I don't think I'll use Kjelle for the same reason I stopped using Kellam, and I don't need any more flying units beyond my normal Pegasus riders. I wonder what Severa is.

Ahaha, so even in the future Cordelia doesn't give up on Chrom? I never would have guessed that's who she is. So...resentful rebel daughter. Interesting. Time for an escort mission.

Aaand archer through the walls kills her. Great. Let's try this again. Lets have everyone escort her! Man, Henry and Cordelia just took on like 6 guys and double teamed all of them. Cordelia blocked half of them and the other half missed. A bit of sniping through walls by Noire and the path is clear.

I see it's possible to kill Holland. I should have tried that for teh luls. Oh well.

Morgan teamed up with Robin: "You tipped the scale!" Kek.

Severa is so Tsundere. It was only a matter of time before we got a straight tsun-tsun. She oozes it! There is literally nothing that isn't a tsundere cliche coming out of her mouth! I can only imagine how popular she is in the waifu-verse. And eugh Henry got flattened out as a father. At least Donnel keeps most of his mannerisms, Henry only said "nya-ha" once and didn't even mention death!

Whoops, I forgot about Brady. He's at the bottom of my unit list...I'm thinking that I'll use him more after I've gotten all of the children and start pairing them up. I don't intend on using him for the main game.

Last one today. I swear. This better be the last one. This game is making me talk to myself!

Chapter 19: The Conqueror

Right, there's a story involving war going on. It isn't all about supports and children...what was happening again?

Cervantes is here? Didn't I kill him? That stache really does make him immortal! Wait, Excellus is a tactician? And he's androgynous...is he female if your Robin is male?

Alright, looks like it's showdown time. And I get a huge party to party with. Chrom, Lissa, Libra, Henry, Morgan, Noire, Donnel, Robin, Sumia, Tiki, Lon'qu, Lucina, Say'ri, Cordelia, Anna. The hardest part is figuring out who to pair up since that deprives me of units.

I really don't get Walhart...he is such a step down from Gangrel. Anyways, so far so good in the battle. I'm barely getting hit despite all the guys he's throwing at me...I feel kinda bad for them. Then again, it might be my fault for grinding on Paralogues and stuff.

...Walhart just killed himself on Donnel. YEEEE-HAAAW!!! That was both anticlimactic and stupidly hilarious. Why'd the battle have to go and end there? 

See, here we have a VISUAL of thousands of southlanders coming to support us. This is what we could have used in those army slaughter scenes to show how dire the situation is. I suppose censorship?

Support Time!

Morgan and Lucina C ranked! Aw, flowers. Morgan is adorkable. Robin and Cordelia B-ranked. See, here Cordelia is playing up the genius angle, which IMO is more interesting than her Chrom-love angle but that's just me. I am learning more here about Cordelia than with any of the male supports I tried for her. Maybe I should try Cherche/Avatar later.

Tiki and Anna can support each other? Wait, is Anna a reference to previous Fire Emblems too? Interesting...

Libra and Lissa hit A rank, and they're sweet. Before I commit though, I'll give Gaius another go.

The issue is that I already have a Sage and War Monk and I don't really like doubling up. None of the children really screamed "USE ME" except Morgan and Noire so far, and they kind of need that to keep up with the rest of my troupe. I might use Brady if I decide to retire one of my healers...Anna comes to mind.

Chapter 20: The Sword or the Knee

Excellus can teleport. If he's going to run, why isn't he running?

Top of the line crew is out. Everyone is paired except Donnel since he doesn't need it. Let them come!

Aw...I gotta kill Cervantes again? Well, he asked for it. He died attacking Robin. And so is literally everyone else...man I'm thankful for that dodge rate. Robin's now maxed out in Grandmaster levels. Time for a class change maybe? I wonder if the "turtle" strategy is nearly as effective on harder difficulties. Getting them to come to me just always seems to be the superior option.

Let's have Say'ri take out Excellus. She's the real hero of this arc anyways. And I'll have her use Yen'fay's sword too, isn't that appropriate? OHKO!

Lon'qu + brave sword + vantage + lethality +critical hit = the most overpoweringly redundant counterattack I've seen in this game so far. Excellus's ENTIRE guard just killed themselves on him. Any time Lon'qu didn't proc a crit or Lethality, Noire did for him. That cleans up...pretty much every enemy on the map. It's great when the game plays itself.

Walhart, come at me! You have an 11% chance to hit Sayri, do you feel lucky punk? ...nope, miss. Donnel and Morgan are gonna wreck you now. YEEE-HAWW! Buh-bye!

...wait, Walhart was supposed to be a foil for Emmeryn? ...nope, not buying it. Yay, another gemstone down. At least the fetch quest is well integrated into the main story...to the point that I'm wondering why we have to bother with the fetch quest. Is it just for legacy's sake? Whoever does the Awakening to summon Naga has to live through getting attacked? Can we just nominate Tiki to do this? I'm pretty sure she could handle it. Why does it have to be Chrom just because it's his Fire Emblem?

I should really class change some of these guys. They're reaching max levels. Ah hm...I can't see Robin as anything other than a Grandmaster, so a Grandmaster she will stay. Just reverting back to level 1. Morgan can rank up to a Grandmaster too, sure why not? I'll let the others max out first though.

Support Time!

This time it's just Robin and Lissa ranking up to A. Cuties. In my main party everyone has pretty much maxed out support ranks with their usual partners. I'm too comfy to start switching it up now.

Anyways, that's all for now. I'll update the list and stuff later since I'm sure I'll play more tonight.
