Well, a lot of details were discussed in the EWiaD. It's essentially the Dark Ages. Why wouldn't you repost the details for everyone's convenience‽

Because GX was going to work on the topic, but she started feeling ill, so she asked me, so I did it instead.
Basically, this is dark fantasy, welcome to it.

Tell me what monster it is, and maybe I can help you. You ever seen that Harry Potter book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"? I want to do that.

Is there one in particular that you want? I don't want a monster. I want to write tons of monsters. Create a taxonomy. Fill a pokedex. Biological approach of course. I know there's no magic. I am not interested in RPing or having a character. The closest I'll get is framing my monsters as a naturalist's observation notes.

Okay.
Well, here's a list of monsters we already have in place:
Dragon, Hydra, Unicorn, Charybdis, Minotaur, and Phoenix. We also have a yet-to-be-named Giant Spider (tropical-style) and one more that I forgot to mention.

PM me details you have on those and I'll come up with an example of what I wanna do. I want to stick with what you have going obviously, so as many details as possible would be best.

These are the equivalent to your MH monsters. They aren't intelligent. They are animals.

Sentience is achieved through higher intelligence.

Sentience is achieved through higher intelligence. But that doesn't mean animals can't be intelligent. Dolphins may not have Theory of Mind, but they are still highly intelligent and have well documented humanlike behaviors. I highly doubt Phoenixes would be dumb beasts in any universe. Dragons, however... Well, some of my lesser cousins aren't exactly bright... But that's beside the point. *Cough*Rathalos*Cough*

Phoenixes are basically self-immolating eagles.
