(crois's spot check fails. Anthor's spot check failed. Red caws twice as he flies above the quarry.)
Suddenly a large a low moan erupts from within the quarry, like the sound of a bellowing steer, echoing throughout the quarry and out.

I don't much like the sound of that... Gildis thinks to himself. He takes his grappling hook and uses it to slowly lower himself from the tree so that he can go to stand with the rest of the group.

Russell could only sigh about what happened. "I was right there how did I miss?" Russell said slightly frustrated. Then he looks over to Krista. "Yeah you can say that again defently not our best performance," Russell said to Krista while rubbing the back of his head.
Suddenly, Russell hears a suspicious noise coming from the quarry. "Defently, don't like the sound of that should probably get in my stance," Russell said while preparing to go into his stance.

"Don't get nervous just yet." Anthor sighed as he looked through the entrance of the quarry. "The source of that sound is probably fairly far away, and if it is hostile, I'm sure we have the manpower to take it down. Magic Missile will weaken it as it nears us then all of you could do your sword-swinging shenanigans then done. Maybe I could gain a few more spells per day and a new spell. Prestidigitation is often looked down upon for its paltry strength, but those fool Wizards underestimate what you could do with one. Turn a pebble into a rubber ball and cast Symbol of Insanity on it, turn a deadly poison until fine wine for an hour and watch your patron drink it and feel no adverse effects until the spell wears off, leaving you plenty of time to escape."

Crois adresses the young sorcerer, "and yet people fear and distrust druids and not so much so your ilk. Proof as to foolishness of mortal beings, in my mind."

"Immortals can be just as foolish as us." Anthor replied. "Some may even be more prone to it. Seriously though, the limits of Prestidigitation are only those of the arbitrary rules that govern us."

"Imortals are rairly fools. Insane, they are often so, but fools they are not. Beasts of world are to simple and pure to achieve the dubious honor that the capacity for foolishness intails. No foolishness is the defining property of the mortal circle. But now is not the time for philosophy, we must ready ourselves." Replies Crois.

"Will you two quit your bickering?" Krista snaps. "We have a job to do. We should check further in the quarry." She steps up to the edge of the quarry.
As she peers over the edge, a small stone whirls out of the quarry, two feet left of her head. She sees a kobold at the bottom of the quarry, sling in hand, readying another stone. Next to him stands a second kobold, blowing furiously into some kind of ox horn, not unlike the kobold Azrael killed was trying to blow.
"We have kobolds down here," Krista calls out. "And unless he's blowing on that horn for his health, he's probably alerted every monster within a quarter mile that we're here... Or he's alerting whatever kobolds are inside that cave behind him. Either one."
(Rolling initiative)
Anthor 22 Kobolds 18 Russell 13 Gildis 11 Azrael 10 Krista 9 Crois 8
(They are aware of a sorcerer, a Druid, Krista, and someone in medium armor. Sound funnels into the quarry and emanates out like a big funnel.

With a flick of his wrist and a quick word, An emerald flare flies from Anthor's palm striking the Kobold blowing the horn (2 dmg). The kobold curses below, before he and his ally dash inside the cave.

(So am I already committed to Iron Guard Glare? If so I will stick with that towards the entrance of the the quarry or where there is a choke off point? Also I would like to ready Vanguard strike and Leading the attack.)

Russell rushes toward the edge of the quarry. He spots a small ragged path that leads into the quarry and begins descending. The path looks mostly finished, and wide enough to traverse easily, but wide swathes of the path had been worn away, which would force him to jump.
He came upon the first one, and took a solid step, ready to leap across, when the earth collapsed out from under him. Within seconds, he began sliding down the side of the quarry, the edges of the path, just out of reach. Below him, he could see where the slope gentled out before it would toss him into a roughly hewn pit.

(So did I take damage or I am in a bad situation and the kobolds can open a can of whoop a** on Russell until the party can catch up to me? Sigh Russell just seems to have the worse luck in the entire party or I am just really bad at DnD? )

You're just taking the express route to the bottom of the quarry. It's a mixture of bad luck plus a lack of experience. Normally rogues scout for traps. You happened to go down first instead. Then you missed your first reflex save. It's not the end of the world.

(Okay I though I slipped and broke my leg or somehow made my self unable to fight. Is there an option to go into a defensive position until the rest of the group catches up? Kinda of don't want to go Leroy Jenkins on the kobold)

You're not going to get to the bottom until next round.
Everyone else can go.

(Are the kobolds that exited the quarry still visible and within 80 feet of Gildis?)
