You don't need Pokemon with type advantages to fight Brock. I watched the whole presentation and have absolutely no idea where you got that from.
You get a free Mew with the Pokeball Plus controller. Mew is not 50$ by itself, nor is it DLC. The Pokeball Plus is a totally optional different controller that also doubles as a Pokewalker AND a Pokemon Go Plus device.
The games are not supposed to be hard or challenging. That's not what they're being marketed on. That's like saying "I don't like Skyrim because it's not a bullet hell." It's perfectly okay for you to not like the games because of that. But that is not a point against the games.
The actual challenging, proper Pokemon games will come out next year. Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee are designed to be fun, easy to pick up and play casual games for all ages.

But if people want the special gift the reveal trailer hinted at, they gotta cough up $50, unless someone is willing to gift them or something.

I don't remember seeing the type advantage thing in the presentation, but that really is dumb.
I'm a solid 90% certain that the "special Pokemon" that they hinted at in the reveal trailer isn't Mew, but the first Gen 8 mon that's going to be revealed. They dropped a lot of hints towards that effect, but I guess it could still just be Mew.
As for the last point, fair enough.

FGO note to self- I should always use summons at 8:30 - 8:50 pm. Got Li Shuwen that way. Dropped the 5 star event CE that way. YOLO summon landed me my Scathach just now... This is my lucky timeframe.
Other cool thing about this. Immediately after looking through the NA servant list, I put her at the top of my wishlist, and then Zerker Cu after her at second place. Not only did I just get my top choice 5 star, she's my very first 5 star. *dances*
