File 2) engaged: The Golden Age The magic cold war spurred unfettered advancement in military and espionage technology. Devices using distortion magic to slip weapons past enemy defenses, countered by time magic fueled devices predicting and or neutralizing them. Decay magic fueled bio weapons, and renewal powered cures. Light and dark magic used in cloaking devices, as well as in countering cloaking devices. Elemental magics used in inducing artificial natural disasters. And the ever looming threat of force and void powered super bombs, some of which could literally destroy the world in it's totality. The threat of mutual annihilation coupled with a modicum of competence on the part of the opposing leaderships kept open war from happening, as well as concealing the existence of magic from general public. After thirty long years of rival governments holding magic guns at each others heads a formal truce was declared and another ten years later the state secrets of magic were declassified. Soon after the private sector was given access to magic a technological revolution took of, one that was unrivaled in the history of the world. Medicine, agriculture, construction, computing, space travel, even entertainment all advanced beyond recognition within the span of a decade. Magic quickly became the worlds most desired commodity, and so more and more micro-rifts were opened to satisfy the ever growing demand. This process was more successful than any one dare dreamed as not only did there appear to be no limit to the number of rifts which could be opened, but the more rifts that were opened the greater the flow of magic particles that came through the existing rifts. For over a century the solar system spanning empire of the world, now populated not only by humans but also by sentient species and machines created through the aid of magic, thrived in ever growing splendor and prosperity. It seemed as though it would last forever.

File 3) engaged: The Cascade Oh cruel hubris that such a fate should come to pass. That which had been the boon of the golden age also proved to be it's bane. The exponential influx of magic was caused by a gravitational effect present between all magic particles. Perhaps if this phenomenon had been noticed sooner the disaster might have been averted, but alas that was not to be. By the time it was noticed it was already to late the rate at which magic entered this universe outstripped the rate at which the magic could be used. The more unused magic that amassed the greater the rate at which magic flowed into the universe. What happened next came to be known as the cascade. So much derelict magic built up that it began to activate of it's own accord. Gouts of flame spurting from empty space, spacial distortions rending space stations in half, mutagens born of renewal and decay, and temporal anomalies where among the earliest and most mild eruptions. Things got so chaotic that record keeping became impossible, as know words could describe the scene and time was no longer constant. Know one knows the full duration of the cascade but it is known how it ended. A small enclave of researchers, minors, and their families who had been stationed at an out post in the outer most reaches of the solar system devised a way to stem the chaos. They created The Ritual and after it's execution the cascade subsided. What was left was tens of billions dead and a world and people that no longer was recognizable.

Lucky number 12 mini-game. In honor of reaching page 12 of the main topic (at least from the perspective of my phone) I'm throwing a contest for my readers. First reader to correctly guess where Iris' antipode currently is will win the rite to name a secret character. Winner will get details on character bio by PM. Don't worry this quiz is multiple choice. A) at the top of the eternal falls. B) inside the great ruins of Prelore. C) on the shores of lake Evergreen. D) in prison in the capitol Worele. E) in the lair of the Jocal pirates. F) in the casino of scarlet port. G) lost in the Cruash wasteland. H) standing right behind Iris.

File 16) engaged: Side effects of The Cascade. The terrible tragedy of the cascade left many strange phenomena in it's wake. The third planet from the sun was rendered un-inhabitable as was it's solar orbit. As all of the micro-rifts were located in that vicinity, that area of space remains saturated with high consentrations of magic particles and thus is still subject to magic eruptions like those which occurred during the early stages of the cascade. Another strange phenomenon is that the suns stellar class was changed. The magic particles which saturated the sun increased the suns mass and the intensity. The fourth planet, the terraforming and colonization of which was completed mid-way through the golden age, was mutated by the cascade. Like the sun the mass of the fourth planet was icreased, and due to the sun's increased intensity the planets climate became warmer. Moreover the cascade generated more water than the initial terraforming process creating vast oceans where only scattered lakes where before. Not only that but many mineral deposits absorbed and were thus transformed by magic particles thus creating geological formations with permanent magical properties.(ie. the eternal falls) The colonists and there pets and livestock were also mutated by the cascade (some more than others) in net creating a complex zeno-ecosystem, with no recolection of the original home world. Other colonies and stations survived the cascade as well each now populated with unique varieties of life born of magic.

File 8) engaged: scenario query wanders sphere exploration 1 C selected: running emulator:
You can't let this event play out doing nothing. The boy's appear to be the instigators so you decide to try and use your new found presence to scare them off. You dash straight toward them attempting to make your self look as big and scary as possible. This however only seems to anger the boys further, and the rocks they're throwing are passing right through you. But here closer to the boys looking them right in the eyes you notice something odd. The boys eyes are glazed over by a glowing purple haze more over they don't even seem to notice you and you are right in front of them. But then you hear a distinct thud followed by a sharp cry of pain, you turn around in time to see a wave of black tendrils rushing out from where the little girl had been. The tendrils pass right through you, the boys right behind you however are not so fortunate. You can only watch as limbs are torn off eyes ripped out backs bent at impossible angles but you also notice that even as they scream in agony the boys are still attempting to pick up stones to throw even the one missing his arm, its as if they aren't even in control of there bodies. Then the tendrils begin to recede, and in the distance you can see a group of adults in various styles of robes rushing toward the scene. Next you here a soft thud and suddenly the world evaporates around you and you find your self back in Corva's room hovering over her. She looks exhausted and is dripping with sweat but otherwise appears unharmed, but what was all of that?
