"I'm, like... 99% sure they can," Kiran says.

Natsumi does her head tilt. "And why's that?"

"'Cause one disguised itself as a human and followed us out of the portal."

"What."

"Oh, yeah. I even carried her home and took her in. She's really cute."

Natsumi, clearly needs a minute to process this, so Kiran goes back to his ice cream.

"......Her name wouldn't happen to be Lamia, would it?"

(A) That's a suspicious thing to know... but I trust you, so yes.
(B) Maybe. Why?
(C) No, it wasn't the guardian. Just a cute little batty I bonded with.
(D) You'll just have to come over to meet her and ask in person.
(E) Yep.
(F) (Dab more ice cream on her nose)

"Maaaaaaybe." Kiran says. He tries to dab Natsumi's nose again, but she's ready this time and ripostes his cone with a big lick, That's... kinda gross. Not that it's going to keep Kiran from finishing his ice cream, dammit. "Why?"

"I'm s'posed to track down the guardians and deliver some messages," Natsumi explains. "So-o-o-o?"

(A) (Steal Natsumi's ice cream instead)
(B) Yes.
(C) Nope.
(D) Ask her yourself. Later.
(E) Ask her yourself. Look, there she is.

If we did, 5. Can't go wrong with some extra firepower.

Also, let's look at C because that name is fun.

Kiran dreams of a cliff overlooking the ocean.  Waves crash from far below.  He's standing right behind a figure, clad head to toe in shining-white medieval-looking plate armor complete with a vibrant, flowing green cape.  He seems to be staring off into the sunset - sunrise? - dramatically.

The figure raises his fist.  Kiran turns around and notices two or three dozen archer standing behind the armored man.  Kiran looks back in time to see the figure thrust his hand forward.  A barrage of arrows rains out over the cliff.  Kiran can barely make out a handful of angelic figures silhouetted against the sun.  Half the group falls prey to the initial volley and goes falling into the ocean below.  The rest turn tail and flee.

The armored man raises his hand again...

Kiran snaps awake as Somnis and Lamia divebomb onto either side of him.

"Kiran I've got big news!" Somnis blurts out.  "Tia's coming to school with us today?"

"She's what?"
"I'm what?"

"Yeah!  You're about our age, so I talked to Alice and made some stuff up and managed to get her to help me fudge and forge some stuff to get you in!" Somnis brags.

"I... but...  Huh?" Lamia seems even more confused than Kiran.

"Shush and get dressed!  I'll help with your hair.  C'mon, time to go! Up, up, up!"

"Wait, she's about our age?" Kiran asks. "I figured she was some ancient force of nature from time immemorial!"

Lamia shoves him.  Hard.  Kiran suddenly remembers you should never talk about a lady's age as he and Somnis fall out of bed together.

...Kiran walks to school with Somnis and Tia.  She's now wearing a new outfit - same silver circlet, new clothes.  A dangly, long-sleeved shirt that hides her hands and pants.  Short-shorts.  And sandals.  The lacy, strapy kind that coils almost all the way up to her knees.  This outfit really shows off her...  Kiran can't help but steal a few glances at those long legs.  Pretty nice for... fake legs.  Wow.  That's... weird to think about.

Kiran drops Lam- Tia Celestia off at the principal's office for her orientation.

The day starts with Alice making an announcement over the PA. "Good morning, everyone. We have a few announcements to go through. First of all, this is a reminder that we're moving to the new club schedule today. You can find copies posted throughout school, under information and important dates. Second, the election results are in. Your new class president, with a victory of... one vote... is Miss Mattea Tarea."

"Hey everyone! I'm honored to say I'm your new president," Mattea's voice comes through the speaker in her most waitress-y tone. "Alice is gonna be training me this week, and I'll be taking over officially on Monday. Let's have a great school year, whoo!"

Alice takes over again. "Third. The Art club will be hosting a community art day in the park on Saturday starting at noon. We hope you'll all turn out to make this event a success, and bring your friends and famil.. If you want to help with setup or activities, speak with Miss Natsumi Tsuki at the art club today. Lastly, we have a new foreign student joining us. I'm sure you'll all treat her kindly, but please remember to be patient if she's unfamiliar with anything."

They're talking about Tia...  Who is apparently a senior.
