Navy makes a somewhat annoying, yet endearing humming sound.
"Well, my parents are travelling doctors. So when they were gone I would practice fighting. I'm not smart enough to learn medicine, but I'm a good enough fighter. And I think it's fun."
He turns to Clay. "What about you?"

"Well, my family kicked me out for being too much of a handful after my big brother got a full ride to Haven, so I wanted to, well, follow in his footsteps." Clay scratched his scruff sheepishly.
"Um, hey, can you keep a secret? There's something on my chest that I'd like to get out but probably shouldn't tell anyone."

I'm surprised we haven't run into any Grimm or other students yet. Are we heading the right way?

"Front!"Navy yells as he charges at the Grimm.
The mole grimm claws at him, but is slow, and Navy jumps out of the way and into the air. He slashes at the creature with his sabres, making it scream.
Navy lands to its side and dodges away back towards Clay, smiling all the while.

"Sounds good to me!" Clay finally opened up and shouted as he started picking up nearby rocks and boulders and hurling them towards the Grimm. "A little disappointed I don't have all my gear with me, but a hunt's a hunt!"
While most of the smaller rocks did naught but grab the attention of the Grimm, one particularly large boulder hurled by Clay smashed into the one Navy had already slashed. As it let out a dying gasp, another one of the moles rushed Clay, only to grabbed by his metal gloves and smashed repeatedly with his curled horns.
"Another!" He boasted, holding the one he had brutalized up in display.

Navy smiles, then charges towards the mole as it rushes him. He sidesteps and stabs and slashes into it's side, causing it to fall and let out a cry of pain as it died.
"Any more?"

"Don't think so, but with all the noise we, uh, might be meeting some more soon." Clay calmed down, dropping the dead Grimm in his hand.
"I'm frankly surprised that we haven't run into some of the other examinees."
