We can just use 5E's 8 stat point buy...

Actually, even with 5E's 8 stat point buy system, you end up with above average stats overall. Since the classes give bonuses themselves, the average or median of all your stats should be an average stat like 10 or 11.

Lurk, how does that work?

Or, you know, we can do what I originally suggested and simply give people a few rerolls to use.

In table top rpgs you don't play dice, dice play you!

It's the standard 5e point buy, but has 8 stats and 33 points (I think, I don't own the DMG) instead of the standard 27.

The 5e point buy system seems like it should work, Mystic. There's even a calculator for it. Just need to substitute the stats for Rift stats. How many points would we have? I'd suggest low-mid 30s.

5e normally uses a 4d6b3 system (take the highest three of each roll, so the resulting average is skewed a point or two higher than 3d6), and the 8 stat point total is normally 33, so to adjust it back so it still fits the lower point total, then maybe knock it down to 30, since I think 4d6b3 still results in a higher average than the standard point buy.

In my defense, I didn't see Lurk say that 33 was normal.

I'm listening through the music that you posted, Neo. But most of it seems to be sound effects.

Repost, in case Mystic missed it. I saw it, I just can't look at the book right now because I'm on my phone. I'm looking through the table of contents to get a general overview of what's inside and I saw RUNE WEAPONS AND MAGIC ITEMS. I love the concept of Rune Weapons. At least, the very little I know about them. I'll definitely be reading that one in depth. I'm also looking into what element frilled dragons would have.

Mystic, are weapons with special properties (like an assault rifle with a grenade launcher) in this? I need to find out how to make the weapon I described kr a different one if I choose that instead.

Most likely. But I'm not sure if they'd be starting weapons or not. They'd definitely be in the game at some point though.

I know the grenade launcher rifle is in the rulebook, but I'm still curious. Can I start with the weapon I thought of as long as I make it balanced (no stronger than the strongest starting one-handed weapon of its type)?

Alright, at least for now it appears my first choice is going to be a Cyber Knight.
