Crow, I'm like 99.9999% sure Mystic and I both explained the difference between MDC/SDC well before the campaign started....
Yes, Malefio, there are a lot of different MDC weapons. You actually have more than enough starting money to buy one, unless you spent it all. No, even if you run out of PPE, Slimex will not be useless. Like Mystic literally said just a few posts ago, there isn't going to be many- if any- fights with only MDC enemies. There's always going to be SDC enemies to deal with, and there are other ways to injure MDC enemies, like using terrain to collapse buildings on them, or shooting a nearby explosive barrel with your gun, etc.

I... completely knew the difference. Hence being able to explain it. To clarify, I mean I wished I knew there wouldn't be times we'd ever be fighting without MD gear.
Mal, I'll check on what MD options you'd have when I check your DW gear.

Oh man.... The Bandit IP-10 Ion Pistol is really, really good. And it's only 12,000 credits. It has a built-in +1 to Strike as well, so it's fairly viable even if you don't have the Laser Weapons WP. I'm tempted to just recommend this weapon to, well, everyone. I'm even seriously tempted to ask Mystic if I can buy it for Shira...
In fact, I'm going to. After seeing Amy, Slimex, and Celica fight, Shira would definitely be curious about guns, at least to some extent. And this gun looks like an Old West(She'd obviously be curious about the Old West given where the party all met) revolver, but shoots lasers, so it could potentially pass as a device that shoots magic as well. Can I buy it, Mystic? Please?

MD weapon options are on pages 268 and 257. The issue is that you take a hefty penalty to using an Energy Weapon without the Weapon Proficiency: Energy Weapon/Energy Pistol/Heavy Weapon skills. Mystic ruled you'd still be able to reload the thing, regardless of what the rules say, but you can't use any of the special actions or whatnot. Maaaaybe if you asked Mystic really nicely he'd let you trade out a skill you haven't used yet, though? That or you can take it whenever Slimey gets new skills.

Shira both saw and heard Celica use the Boom Gun in the Prologue/tutorial fight. Unless that was retconned for whatever reason and I missed it...?
The great thing about the Bandit IP-10 is that it's really, really simple. It's literally just point and shoot. There are no complicated actions or anything like that. It has a 400 foot range and does 3d6 MD. If you can figure out how to use a normal old timey style gun, you can use this. It's so simple that, if I were in Mystic's shoes, I'd say you could ignore the "hefty penalties". There's literally nothing to figure out. And it's well balanced and easy to use, no recoil, silent, and has a +1 to Strike. All for only 12k credits.

Didn't Celica use the Boom Gun...? Or am I totally misremembering things?

Nope, only in the practice fight. In the real prologue, she beat one to death, threw another at the Iron Giant, made friends with one, then took out 6 more with a grenade. No guns. Only time she's fired anything is at the harpy.
So Shira may be interested in high explosives because of Celica, but she's never seen the boom gun. I haven't had cause to use it yet. SIX HUNDRED CREDITS A SHOT, NEO. Do you know how many fragmentation grenades that buys me!? 2.2! Or .6 CS Fusion Blocks!

Hey, Neo, how many grenades and assorted high explosives do you think a person could un-realistically carry before taking any amount of damage would be an instant Game Over?

Quick question like that. Pretty sure I know the answer but I'll ask anyway.
Silver Bullets effects are to be super effective against undead, werewolves, vampires, etc. right?
Now for the part I don't know:
Does "super effective" mean "more SDC damage" or "damages become MDC"?

"Unrealistically" meaning "by RIFTS rules and GM fiat." Basically, how far do you think I could push things before Mystic says "NO. MORE. BOOM."?

I'll also need to know what worlds grenades aren't allowed in and I just realized Celica is turning into Bernadotte from Hellsing Ultimate.
Anima: Oh, these are a very... um... specialized type of capture device. I call them Boom Balls. They... er... are super-effective at making ghost-types appear?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Half the penalties maybe? I don't think its fair to dismiss the weapon proficiency like that. Its not really fair to those that have it.
Silver bullets will damage enemies differently depending on who it is. Each monster has its own rules. But silver bullets will definitely do boosted damage to undead and werewolves and stuff like that. Unless I specify otherwise because they have a special ability/equipment. It can range anywhere from Insta death to a few extra points of damage.
If they shoot your bombs, you'd go boom. So try to keep them concealed so they don't know you have bombs. So as long as you can realistically not have bombs strapped all over your body, you should be okay.

Half penalties seems okay for really simple weapons. So can I buy the laser pistol for Shira?
