Well the computer is one thing. The other thing is if I am at work I don't have reliable internet. But ehhhhh whatever I will have to enjoy this like I did for schism and Stars. Peanut gallery comments. Ehhhh I guess I will leave it with a Glay Glay

I looked at Juicers and it didn't look like they gained anything on level-ups. I wish the book was better organized. I'm pretty sure everything gets something from level ups. I still have to do more reading though.

So, at level 1, the Royal Frilled Dragon Hatchling starts with 3 spells, 12 Psionic powers(Including two Supers), long range nightvision, shadow meld(Essentially invisibility), a paralyzing AoE breath, claws and fangs that are treated as MDC weapons and do MDC, and potentially several hundred natural MDC, SDC, and HP. Oh, and the ability to sense Ley Lines, other dragons, read and understand even complicated magic, and instinctively use all magic weapons. Oh, and they can see through invisibility. And more I'm probably forgetting. All right out of the gate. ... That's so OP. I love it.

The big difference between Neo and Crow in terms of writing/RP styles. Crow: Glitter Boy sounds really fun, narratively and in terms of HAVING A 2.1m RAILGUN STRAPPED TO MY BACK... But also really OP, so maybe not... Once I get a better grasp of the rules, I'll compare it with other pilot classes and- Neo: ... That's so OP. I love it.

Then looking at classes like Vagabond, the power levels seem really messed up in the style of most campaigns (lots of combat), since those classes are heavily overshadowed by the combat ones like Juicers and Glitterboys.

I think Rifts tries to go for a more "realistic" approach to classes, rather than a "balanced" approach. For example, a trained soldier in uber powerful Power Armor(Glitter Boy) is realistically going to be much better in combat than a Vagabond. However, a Vagabond is better suited to surviving in the wilderness and following trails and stealth and that kind of thing. Outside of battle, a Glitter Boy might not have a lot to do other than keep watch and stand guard. Whereas a Vagabond could be a Forward Scout, tracker, or hunter. So each class has individual skills they're good at, like they would in real life. And like Mystic said, outside of combat is equally important to combat itself in Rifts. Perhaps even more so at times. Rifts is all about traveling, surviving, investigating, and scouting. In many ways, there will probably be less combat in Rifts than there is in Schism.
At least, that's my view on stuff.

At least, that's my view on stuff. Read the last section in the Glitter Boy entry. It literally details how to shut down a Glitter Boy if they seem OP while talking about how classes should feel balanced by each having pronounced strengths and weaknesses, not each class feeling equal. My only complaint - my only two complaints about Glitter Boys. One, they look brand new and sparkly rather than battle-worn and badass after centuries of combat. Two, no standardized melee weapons. Lots of punching and kicking skills, but you can't start with a mech-sized greatsword, maul, drill... I'd kinda feel a lance just looking at the illustrations. I've looked at the other classes and I'm basically at the point of Glitter Boy or SAMAS pilot.

I may wait to see what other people are doing before I decide between the two.
A Glitter Boy would be a super-tanky, single-target f*** you character like Aeva. Or a SAMAS pilot, which would be a slightly more adaptive and maneuverable, less-tanky, generally-single-but-sometimes-multiple-target f*** you character like Spyd.

The time I saw it done with the familiar under GM control was by the most experienced GM I'd seen. And honestly he was probably only doing it because it was a munchkin player's CE Necromancer (who didn't actually survive an entire session)'s pet imp named "Mr. Badtouch."

Generally speaking, I'd say it depends on the familiar you choose and the GM. In this case, Mystic will most likely let you control it, unless specific circumstances dictate otherwise.
I'm about to go on Roll20 and start working on my character sheet, since it will be a complicated one.
