Long ago, the world was falling to a great and deadly power. Those that faced it could only tremble in fear as they prayed for the end to be quick. Only thirteen could stand to face it and battle it. Thirteen heroes with legendary weapons in hand. Together, they sealed away this force of evil, but it was said that one day it would break free again to terrorize the world. Only then could the descendants of the heroes reassemble to defeat it. But that story is an old one from a very long time ago. It is forgotten by most. The only things that remain as reminders are thirteen old weapons. Passed down from one generation to the next. The nations of Legerran no longer remember the danger that pulled them together and the lines between the nations became solidly drawn. As each nation made itself further independant, they began to feel less connected to the others. Eventually, this would lead to misunderstandings, hate, and even war. Once again, the world would fall into a state of chaos and the Legend of Heroes would once again be revived.
Legerran is home to many different nations. The largest and most prominent being Opulentus. Opulentus is the wealthiest of all the nations on Legerran. Ruled by an aristocracy, it only looks to further increase its wealth gain. It is truly the most greedy of the nations. Despite its focus on money, the people of Opulentus have a constant fear of other nations trying to steal its wealth. Because of this, they work to train strong knights day and night and have gathered together a well crafted army. The people in Opulentus have come to see the Laguz as rather distasteful. Considering them lesser people because they appear to be beasts, Opulentus and the Laguz tribes do not get along well. They are also wary of Daravia, knowing of their thief and bandit problems. Though they will not attack unprovoked, they are not on very friendly terms with Daravia.
Next is the holy land of Lux. The land said to be blessed by the gods. Lux is the religion capital of Legerran. It is very popularly known for its connection to the gods and the church. People from all over are welcomed here to come worship the gods and to learn more about them. Truly a warm and welcoming place. It is allied with Legerran, a main source of its income in exchange for lending some of its powerful healers to it. Although it allies with other nations, Lux has a strict rule against war. It will simply not participate in wars. It is against the people’s culture. Self defense is one thing, but it will not provoke anyone or start any fights. Even though it has this rule, it is of general consensus among the people that Umbra is an unholy place. It is not fully stated, but the shady doings of the dark mages cannot possibly be looked upon proudly by the gods.
Speaking of which, the isle of Umbra is well known as a land of carefree lifestyle. Without the limitations and restrictions on magic placed in other nations, Umbra is a popular magic destination. The people in Umbra attempt to keep an open mind to all ways of thought. Although it was founded on a seemingly innocent idea, it has become rather disliked and looked down upon by other nations. Since it is flocked by dark mages, dabbling in the forbidden arts, it is considered an unholy land and some areas are flat out dangerous. This has put it on bad terms with both Opulentus and Lux. Despite being considered shady, it is good allies with the Laguz land of Sidhe. Its open mindset considers Laguz equal to everyone else and accepts them with open arms.
Having faced oppression and injustice from the people of Opulentus, the Laguz tribes have finally formed together to create the recent nation of Sidhe. Together they stand for their rights as Laguz. They have naturally made enemies with Opulentus, viewing them as the real enemy and threat. Naturally, Sidhe and Umbra have come together in an alliance to stand against Opulentus, seeing as how it wrongly despises both of their people.
To the south of the major nations is Daravia. Although this used to also be a powerful and large nation, Daravia had spread itself too thinly across the desert and fell apart, becoming victim to bandits and thieves. Now the nation itself is run by thieves. Seeing themselves as the poorest nation, they went to Opulentus for financial aid, but the greedy nation refused to help them. In anger, the nation sets its eyes on Opulentus, ready to wage war and retrieve the gold which will not be shared.
To the far north above all of the major nations is Glaewood. Living in the cold and snowy forested mountains, the people of Glaewood have mostly cut themselves off from the other nations. They believe in power and strength, being ruled always by the strongest of their warriors. With power being valued most, Glaewood always trains to become stronger and respects other nations with strength as well. It dislikes Daravia, seeing the thieving nation as cowardly and unable to face their enemies and problems head on.
Finally, at the peak of the northern mountains lies a small city state. This is Drakus. It is the land of the dragons. The dragons refused to get caught up in any battles or issues with the other nations and have completely shut themselves out from the rest of the world. The dragons live peacefully on their mountain. They have no troubles with anything. Although they are the smallest, they are the strongest of the other nations. Having shut themselves out from the world, the dragons are ignorant to the issues in the other nations. As such, when the stray dragon or two wanders off, they are often found confused by the current events.
Among these nations, there are twelve weapons lost throughout history. Some are now held by members of royal families. Some are lost and sealed away in old vaults. Some are held by mercenaries wandering the land. And one is held by the hero of this story. Speaking of which, you may want to help introduce the hero. Who were they?
