"Gale, Isana, Judoc. And... Carin, Sorina. We're going in to look for any survivors." Lily's eyes narrow. "And to avenge the fallen."
"Yeah!" Gale yells.
"I'm counting on you and senses to find anyone. Carin, we'll need a healer, as well."
"Um... Right, but why not Stella? Wouldn't she be better suited for this? I mean, I'm..."
"You'll do fine, Carin," Lily promises. "But I need Stella to help keep watch out here, in case this is a trap. And you all better make sure nothing happens to the prisoner!"
"Grrrr..." Amy growls loudly.
"This is all great, but we're still missing one little detail. How do we go in? Levi got torn up. And now they know we're coming," Sorina points out.
(A) "Sounds like you're volunteering to go first, Sorina. We'll stay behind you." (B) "Judoc, Gale, and Sorina in front, the rest of us will follow close behind." (C) "We'll send someone in as a distraction, then the rest of us will join in." (D) "Not too late to toss the prisoner in first, I guess." (E) "We'll rush in all at once." (F) "We need a better idea of what's going on inside. We'll try another scout first."

"Sorina, you'll go in first. Then Judoc and Gale. The rest of us will follow close behind," Lily orders. "Ready? Move!"
Sorina is the first through the door, shield raised. A volley of arrows clatters against her armor the moment she enters. Most either bounce from her shield or remain embedded in it, but a pair slip by to dig into her shoulder plate and waist. She staggers, then keeps advancing as the enemies prepare another barrage.
Gale and Judoc charge through, and the enemies spread out their fire. More bounce off Sorina's shield, and Judoc is able to fend off most of the ones sent his way. Gale tries to weave through the attacks, but there are too many. Three arrows catch her hindquarters and she slips to the ground mid-charge.
Sorina is quick to jump in front of her and try to hold the enemies off while Gale picks herself up.
As Lily enters, she feels a brush of air against her cheek as an arrows shoots past. She blindly fires off a burst of shadowy magic in the general direction it came from. She doesn't hear any hint that it landed. After so long the bright desert sunlight, her eyes have to adjust to the dim torchlight of the cave. She can make out a eight silhouettes scattered among the columns and stalagmites throughout the room. As things come into focus, Lily sees they're in a large entrance that only seems to have one exit, a tunnel two men wide moving further into the area. Other than the rock formations, a few supplies are scattered in this room.
Carin sprints over to Gale, ducked with her arms up to protect her head. She slides the last few feet, immediately ripping the arrows out of Gale's leg and running her healing staff over the wounds. Isana moves to her side, helping her treat Gale with her dance.
As Judoc bears down on one of the assassins, the one that seems to be the leader whistles. They begin to scatter and run for the tunnel. Lily can hear the faint smashing of steel against wood coming from deeper inside.
(A) Run after them (B) Take as many as possible before they escape, then wait (C) Let them go for now (D) Forget this, take a defensive stance by the tunnel

"Attack!" Lily yells.
Gale is all too eager to pounce on one of the fleeing assassins. She knocks him over with a slash to the leg and starts stabbing him in the back. Isana throws a volley of knives at another, giving Lily an opportunity to blast him with shadowy magic now that she can see.
Sorina tosses a javelin, but misses horribly, the weapon bouncing off a stone. The clanging sound rings throughout the chamber.
The assassins are slowed as they try to pass through the narrow tunnel, giving Judoc enough time to catch up to them. He stabs through an assassin's armor and knocks him off-balance while the others flee. Isana throws a knife cleanly into his neck while the others run to catch up.
Carin, meanwhile, hides behind a stalagmite.
Before the others can follow the five remaining assassins down the tunnel, Lily calls for a halt. "Hold! Don't chase them into a trap!"
"Then what do we do?" Gale asks.
The sound of splintering wood continues to echo from deeper within.
(A) Follow them anyway! (B) Follow them cautiously in the same formation as before (C) Wait and let Carin heal everyone, then follow
Call reinforcements? (1) Yes (choose 2) (2) No

Lily decides it's time to be as cautious as possible. She calls for reinforcements and Hawke and Rakim make their way inside while Carin tends to everyone's wounds.
"Everything's clear outside so far. We should be able to spare some extra people down here," Rakim says.
"I'd rather not be too far from the princess, anyway." Hawke adjusts his armor to deal with not being in the air anymore. "I know watching her rear is important, but I feel better watching her front."
"No time for chatter. They've had a chance to reinforce their position. We need to go," Lily says. "Advance!"
Hawke and Gale take point as Lily's group advances through the tunnel into the next room. They can hear distant shouting from far ahead. "Hurry and finish them off before they catch up."
There's a sound like a large door finally giving way, followed by a battle cry.
As Lily comes into the next room, she finds half the surviving assassins lined up behind more rock formations, ready to open fire on her. The other half are firing arrows towards an destroyed wooden door on the far side of the room. Two berserkers are standing by the door, trying to fight their way through a pair of knights wearing heavy armor. The knights are marked with two different insignias that Lily doesn't recognize. Three heroes are waiting behind, ready to rush in next. Four armored soldiers and two halberdiers are lined up with their spears ready to charge Lily's group. A general is standing in the center of the room, coordinating the battle, with a cleric at his side.
Several corpses, many of them mages, are strewn around the room. It looks like this battle has been going on for a while.
(A) Charge immediately (B) Wait and see what happens (C) Advance cautiously (D) Try to bait the soldiers into coming into the tunnel (E) Time to leave (F) Send Gale back to grab Amy, use her as a battering ram

"Attack! Carefully!" Lily orders.
Hawke and Gale attack first. They rush at one of the halberdiers, attacking him from either side at once. Hawke swings high with his axe, while Gale slides and slashes with her sword, aiming for the legs. The halberdier raises his pole, trying to deflect both blows at once. Gale's strike knocks the weapon aside and Hawke's axe bites into his chest. Rakim leaps over Gale, dropping into a slash to finish him off.
Sorina cautiously advances on the other halberdier, shield raised. The halberdier takes a defensive stance as well, carefully observing her movements. Sorina tests him with a few quick jabs, only to have them turned away before the halberdier manages to slip a quick blow past her shield and into her arm. She lowers her guard for a moment, and the halberdier moves to follow through. His shadow explodes, knocking him to the side as Lily takes a few steps forward. Before he can recover, Isana puts a pair of knives into his gut.
Sorina and the halberdier both shuffle back. Sorina forms ranks with Hawke, Gale, and Rakim, while the halberdier takes cover behind the other four soliders. Carin steps up to tend to Sorina's injuries when an arrow whistles past the knight and into the healer's flank.
"Carin!" Sorina yells. She shifts, readjusting her shield to deflect a second arrow aimed at Carin's head.
"I-I'm fine," Carin assures her. "I can... I can still stand. I can still help."
The second assassin takes a shot at Gale, who casually slips to the side, letting it clatter against the wall. A third assassin decides Rakim looks like a better target, only for Rakim to deflect the arrow with his broadsword.
The soliders run forward to attack. One aims for Hawke, who hooks his axe around the spear before punching the soldier in the face with his free hand. The dazed soldier steps back and evades Hawke's follow-up swing. The soldier attacking Gale stays cautious, choosing to throw a javelin at her. Gale slips on a slick rock, and the lance comes close enough rip a hole in the side of her shirt. Rakim manages to land a thrust against the next soldier, but takes a small wound himself. Sorina deflects the last soldier's thrust, then bashes her shield into his arm. He shuffles back, thrusting again with just as little effect.
Meanwhile, the berserkers and foreign knights are trading blows. One berserker lands a powerful blow to one of the knights, who crumples to her knees. "Hey, don't give up just yet!" a male voice calls from behind her. "A little more, just a little more! Let's give them a finale we can be proud of!" The knight leans on her shield as she forces herself back up. The berserker tries to rush her, only to receive a stab to the stomach. But this doesn't stop him - he pulls free of the blow, then brings his axe down on the knight despite his injuries.
"Dammit!" Lily yells. The knight starts to fall to the ground, turning into mist before she lands. Her spear clatters twice, but remains. "Wh-what!?"
The other knight fares better, shoving his berserker back and stabbing him in the shoulder with a sword. The berserker slams into his shield twice, leaving two large dents but failing to break his guard. The two remaining assassins fire past the berserker, one arrow bouncing off the shield and another deflecting off his shoulder armor. "I will hold the line!" he yells as the heroes start to slowly advance.
A pair of fireballs fly from behind the knight. The first strikes the injured berserker's chest, then the second impacts his head. The berserker bellows angrily and looks ready to charge.
"Oh, no, no, no! That simply won't do!" the same voice calls again. A moment later, three red orbs spiral to strike the ground beneath the berserker, which erupts in a pillar of flame. When the flames vanish, the berserker is lying dead. "Ah... Lovely."
The general looks between the groups, then elbows the cleric and points to the halberdier. She nods, pulling out a physic staff and healing the worst of his injuries.
Lily's group has managed to push forward enough that they aren't trapped in the tunnel. They could make their way along the edge of the room at this point.
(A) Keep advancing right up the middle, slowly (B) Send (choose) to outflank the soldiers and attack the assassins (C) Try to send someone along the outskirts of the room to the far side (D) Split up and attack in a pincer (E) Rush right through the middle (F) Retreat (G) Look Lily just really wants to find an excuse to 'accidentally' get Amyrillis killed and this could be her last chance for a while

"Gale, Rakim!" Lily orders. They start to move without having to be told what she means.
The pair go charging towards the soldiers, moving around either side of their formation and moving towards the assassins. The soldiers turn to attack them as they pass. "I think not!" Sorina yells. She stabs one of them in the flank. The panicked soldier turns and starts stabbing at her blindly, his spear barely grazing her armor. Lily takes the chance to fire a sphere of darkness towards him. The force of its explosion knocks him to the ground, where Sorina easily finishes him off.
Judoc prevents another soldier with a thrust in the back, then dodges as the enemy turns back to stab him. Isana dances up behind him. "This is your chance. There, attack now!" Judoc listens to her advice, twirling his lance before slashing with the tip. The enemy soldier falls, dead.
The last soldier crosses blades with Hawke. The two trade blows for a moment. Hawke has the clear advantage, but the enemy's cleric starts healing his opponent from afar. The fight becomes evenly matched.
Carin, meanwhile, takes out a vulnerary and begins applying a poultice to her wounds.
The halberdier sets his lance and charges, brushing past Hawke and running past Carin, and aiming straight for Lily. Lily tries to step out of the way, but her heel catches a rock and she trips. Fortunately, it also causes the thrust to miss her chest. The spear stabs into her shoulder as the halberdier keeps charging. He slams her hard into the cave wall while lifting her high enough to suspend her in the air.
Lily yells in pain, then brings her knees up and kicks hard at the soldier's chest. She yells again as he stumbles back and she drops to the ground. From her knees, she readies her tome. "Kill you..." she mutters quietly. A ring of darkness appears around the halberdier as he moves in to strike again. Lily reaches out and grabs the spearhead, her hand bleeding as the halberdier struggles to pull free. The ring snaps together and bursts, and the halberdier crumples to the ground.
Gale and Rakim leap at the three assassins before they can fire their bows again. Gale quickly slashes one, then flips her blade and slashes again. The deep cuts tear open, and the assassin quickly drops to the ground. The next assassin turns and takes a shot at her. The arrow catches her in the forearm, and she drops her sword. She quickly rips the arrow loose and picks it back up.
Rakim swings at the last. The assassin raises his bow to block the hit. Rakim cuts through the weapon, but it stops him from dealing a killing blow. The assassin slips out a knife and rushes him, trying to slip in past his sword. He manages to stab Rakim in the chest, but barely penetrates his armor. Rakim drops his sword's hilt, bashing the assassin in the head before kicking him back, ready to keep fighting.
The berserker swings at the knight again. The knight blocks the blow, but it's strong enough to send him skidding back a few feet. The knight rushes back at the berserker, swinging his sword. The berserker takes the hit without flinching, readying his axe for another swing. He doesn't even notice the fireballs before they strike him in the face. He starts yelling and grabbing at his face before he collapses outside the broken gate.
The assassins ignore the scene and calmly loose arrows at the knight. One arrow catches him in the knee joint, and he stumbles, lowering his shield as the other arrow hits him in the chest. "Gah... I'll not fall yet!"
Two of the heroes move to surround him, while the third seems to be trying to move past to attack whoever's throwing the spells..
The general growls, then begins to advance on Lily's group. "Stay with me!" he demands of the cleric.
Gale/Rakim (A) Keep fighting the assassins (B) Move to attack the other group of assassins (C) Intercept the general (D) Attack the heroes
Others (1) Stay on the defensive (2) Move to attack the general (3) Attack the closer assassins (4) Rush towards the further assassins (5) Move towards the far hallway (6) Retreat

Hawke continues to battle with the soldier in front of him. He starts to gain an advantage as the enemy's cleric becomes overwhelmed. After trading a few more blows, Hawke has a few scratches while the soldier is ready to collapse.
Meanwhile, the others advance on the assassins. Carin rushes to Lily's side, struggling to heal her as Lily charges forward without concern for her injuries. Judoc, Isana, and Sorina follow behind her. Gale and Rakim leap towards the other assassins.
Lily leaps and stabs her rapier down into the injured assassin. She kicks the corpse off the tip of her blade, then gives him another quick stab as he falls, just to be safe.
Judoc and Sorina attack the other assassin from either side. He stabs at Judoc, managing to stab into a joint in his armor. Judoc grunts, then stabs him with his spear. Sorina stabs him from the other side. Between the two of them, the assassin is easily slain. Isana, with no better ideas, moves on to help Gale and Rakim.
Rakim swings at one assassin. He ducks the blow, slips back, and fires an arrow at him. Rakim deflects the arrow with his sword, but a second arrow hits him in the breastplate. He snaps the shaft and keeps moving forward.
Gale slips past the general and stabs one of the other assassins in the back. The assassin stumbles forward, then turns and slices at Gale with his knife. He scores a lucky hit, leaving a shallow slash across her cheek. Gale collapses backwards, gripping the injury. The assassin leaps at her, knocking her onto her back. He raises his knife to stab her again when Isana kicks him in the side of the head, then chucks a throwing knife into his back before he can get up. Isana reaches down to scoop Gale up when a loud clank catches her attention.
Isana turns just in time to see the spear flying at her. It catches her in the hip, and she's knocked back, falling to her knees. The general begins to advance on her, but she starts throwing knives as quickly as possible. Three bounce off his armor with ineffective pings. The cleric heals his injury as he stomps forward, undeterred. Gale and Isana struggle to their feet, ready to fight.
The two heroes attacking the knight both rush him at once. One ducks low and unleashes a rising slash against his shield. The knight answers with a quick stab. The other hero uses the opening to slash him in the chest. Like the other knight, this one fades into a golden glow before he falls to the ground.
The last hero disappears from view. There's the sound of someone grunting, followed by more fireballs and screaming.
Gale/Rakim/Isana (A) Keep fighting the assassin (B) Attack the general (C) Attack the cleric (D) Move into the side tunnel (E) Retreat
Others (1) Stay on the defensive (2) Attack the general (3) Attack the cleric (4) Attack the last assassin (5) Rush to the side tunnel
