I dunno why I find Alice so adorable. But I do. Alice x Gale x Lily Harem??? I said characters wouldn't be in a homosexual relationship with anyone but Lily, Rand, or N*****. Because realistically like 95% of the population's straight - then again, dragons and magic, so realism? Pfft. I still don't want to handwave everyone as having adopted children, though... I went with the whole "only 3 characters can initiate homosexual relationships but several can reciprocate them" idea as a way to balance things. But Alice x Gale's just... too cute. Not that I'm going to try to push for it 1... Rather than make an exception, I'm just going to add one of them to the "can initiate homosexual relationship" list. I'm leaning towards Gale, but I could be convinced either way. I'm also adding K***, a guy you'll meet soon-ish, to balance out the lesbianism before there aren't enough girls to pair everyone off. Speaking of balance, kids'll be based on couples, not specifically the mother or father - other than the lord characters getting 2 kids. I realized Alice... kinda... really reminds me of my first girlfriend. But as a mage. Instead of an emotionally manipulative jerkass. 1No, really, I'm not. I would have to change several things around. |

I'm leaning towards Gale, but I could be convinced either way. After running through some potential supports, I decided to go with Alice instead. Because the idea of Alice x (name to be changed) is hilarious to me. Though, since they'll start on different paths, not likely to happen. |

Added mounting and transformation stat adjustments under mechanics
Changed Slayer's entry on the skill page from "bonus damage" to "20% bonus damage"
Minor plot correction - the X chapter was originally listed as "two days ago," but should have been "last night/this morning." It's running near-concurrently (a few hours before) with Rand and Lily's fight.

Expect the lewd-kink-giggity to drop off significantly. I had my fun. And it's a huge time investment. Because any time I post something racy, I go through a long process to make sure it's SFW... enough. Which is another reason I wanted to pre-write the June/Catie scene in PM, X, before we changed it up. I write it. Go back and change the wording with more flowery-ness. Edit it for flow, rearranging and grinding down more explicit statements. Delete the whole thing. Rewrite it from memory - anything I don't remember was probably not worth having. Do something else for an hour. Come back and re-read and change anything too lewd. Post. Immediately re-edit because having actually posted it will have changed my mind about what's OK. Usually re-edit it in response to the first few people to comment. |

I don't normally talk much about numbers, because I want people to focus on the story rather than worrying too much about mechanics. But I am going to say I nerfed Prevail a lot after SoS - I'll get to the why in a bit. Now, rather than scale directly with missing health, it activates at thresholds, and the overall % increase has been lowered.
50% health - 31% health: +10% (rounded down, min 1) to listed skills
30% health - 16% health: +30% to listed skills
15% health - 2HP: +50% to listed skills
1HP: +80% to listed skills
1HP's fine to give such a high bonus because it happens so rarely - literally once in SoS between both the characters with Prevail. That time is both why I weakened it and the only time I messed with a dice roll. Kinda. It happened when people decided to leave June...

It's worth noting she mostly survived because she was really lucky with the wolves attacking each other. But when Paen finally arrived with the reinforcements, she happened to be in berserk status. And targeted Paen. And killed him. Easily. But I decided to let Claudia try a Support Attack after she failed her Support Defense roll. And she managed to knock June out first.

I'm going to start adding disclaimers here for things that happen in AoD. Already have 2 examples to catch up on.
Treatment of a puncturing injury, such as a dog (or dog-monster) bite: Never seal a deep puncture wound. Clean it thoroughly and cover it lightly until it has healed to the point deep tissue is no longer exposed. Sealing the wound - with a vulnerary or poultice, for example - allows dangerous "obligate anaerobic" (requires an oxygen-free environment) bacteria to multiply, notably the tetanus bacteria, Clostridium tetani.
??? throws (I'm completely blanking on the proper name) (what Gale did to the mercenary): ??? throws are an intermediate-advanced technique. Performing them improperly risks damage to the back and neck. This is coming from experience... Generally, only one foot is used to brace against the attacker, with the other helping provide momentum to swing you back over your opponent; it's also ideal to grab the attacker's upper body for improved stability. Don't attempt this technique without proper instruction. Even better, try to avoid fighting people carrying large swords.

I mentioned that after a lot of thought about how it would play out, Zenia x Alice would probably be really weird and/or awkward.
After further thought, so would Zenia x Lily, Zenia x Rand, Zenia x Gale (bigtime), Zenia x Storm, Zenia x Rhett (bigtime), Zenia x Hawke (bigtime), Zenia x Hyun'ji... A pattern starts to emerge.
I'm planning to add a simple timeline thing showing splits and chapter counts for the shippers who actually plan and time things out. And fill in titles as it goes along. But somewhere people who don't want to have any idea what's happening don't have to see it.

That timeline's not coming for a while yet, by the way. There's a few long chapters that I'm debating splitting into two small chapters, and vice-versa. Aside from how often you'll get support opportunities, it's going to affect how quickly/slowly people build supports and how many you get. Ideally, I want to balance things so that if you focused on a close/childhood friends pair exclusively (Rand/Mina, Gale/Rand, Gale/Lily, Alice/Allune, Rhett/Sorina), you should be able to max it in the middle of the second arc. Less-close pairs early in the third.
What do the voters prefer? Long or short chapters?
Oh... Something else I need to add in the OP under mechanics: X-supports.
Sometimes two characters can forge a powerful, non-romantic bond. Perhaps they both already have S-level supports. Maybe they're just not romantically compatible. Either way, they're still close enough that their friendship will change their lives. These X-level supports will change a character's epilogue.
For examples from SoS, Paen/Mary X resulted in Mary being appointed the forest guardian in place of Fumiko.
Paen/Saul X created a blooming alliance between Carcina and Valeria, instead of leaving them in an uncomfortable truce.
A few potential X-supports in AoD:
Lily/Rand
Lily/Mina
Lily/(Saul's son) (if one's already married)
