The Schism: A 13th Age RP Campaign

Mind you, Nyl does know that the Black is in the south. Would she consider having someone contact her to see if there are any signs of Julie down there? I understand that would probably take longer than Nyl would like it to.

I don't think there's anything I can add to the current leads.

If Julie knows about Arlan's kid, and that's the issue right now, then (assuming everyone is right about Sephira) he may loosen up his grip on her fairly soon. And it's very clear that the party didn't find that out because of Julie, since they haven't spoken to her prior to going to Shangri-La.

This hasn't come up in-story yet explicitly, but I've dropped lots of hints towards it, so I don't mind saying this.

Talon is a lot weaker than he used to be. At one point, he was stronger than Raizel. Part of that is from being under the Lich King's control for so long. Part of that is him abandoning his original self. But part of that is also him losing his "immortality". It's not immortality in the normal sense. It's the gift of the Wellspring, and the power that comes with it. If Talon were to ever recover his full power, it would be every bit the equal of the Lich King becoming the Black King again or Skadi descending in the flesh. It would reshape the world.

... And yes, this means the Prince of Shadows has the power of the Wellspring and has had several years to figure out how to use it.

Session summary:

- The party learned to not discuss whether or not to hunt down some guys within earshot of said guys

- Master that wants us to go back thinks one of them is the Gandyman and the Blade of Ruin
- Which is a corrupted Ea that basically deletes your existence when it kills you

- He might be trying to smash the will of fate and/or the seven ghost-masters hiding in the basement, any of which is basically a game over condition
- Warin accomplished his campaign goal of seeing and eating a zebra whole, and also Aeva's campaign goal of flying

Stats for the Trident you guys found way back in the Ruins of Winter, in the underwater bit with the Naga and Naga ruins.

A legendary Trident rumored to once have belonged to the ruler of the Naga, but was lost to the ages when their civilization mysteriously vanished.

Trident of the Sea(Epic Tier Magic Item, Recharge 11+): +3 Attack/Damage. Can be used as a melee weapon or thrown as a ranged weapon. When used as a ranged weapon, the Trident deals Cold damage. Whenever you are nearby a large source of water(At least a small river or lake, within 30 feet), you gain a +2 to all attacks and all defenses. You can activate the Trident as a Standard Action to perform some sort of incredible non-attack stunt involving water, such as propelling yourself across the battlefield with a jet of water or causing a huge geyser to erupt around you to forcibly pop free and send all engaged enemies flying.

Quirk: You are drawn to the water and constantly remind others that water is the source of all life. You also now have Thalassophobia.

The Trident is considered a Light Spear and uses d8 damage die.

I can assume Rai went over everything from that one meeting Aria didn't let her join in on, right? Someone remembered to tell Nyl that Pinky's probably immortal, right?

(Also Rai would have figured out she wasn't just playing it off. She really wasn't upset about it, until she found out he'd been there...)

I didn't expect him to intentionally hold anything back so much as 'this doesn't seem important,' but OK.

I had some more questions I've been meaning to ask that I keep forgetting, I'll just do it at the start of the thing because it's not particularly important. But I'm gonna go ahead and write them out so I'll stop forgetting.

- Time Selene tried to attack Belial (~70 years ago?)
- Whether they ended up with Arlan immediately after or if it was a while
- Time Raizel got nabbed by the cult (30-40 years ago?)
- Whether we know how he escaped

Maybe I'll make a timeline like GX's family tree someday.

Mini-session summary!

Nyl got to town, did bad at first, finally flirted and name-dropped her way to meet the Don, the PoS' second-in-command. That's about what she expected.

They already know about the plan with the dwarf king. Nyl told her she's free to help if she's that interested. She is, but isn't going to help. Yet.

Also Don/Penth mentioned being the arena grand champion.

Side-note, her bodyguard seems to be a demon but also doesn't seem to be a demon but isn't a tiefling? Nyl didn't say, but she's convinced he made a pact with one of the princes. Also he refused to give his name (Jin) so Nyl's decided his name is Sparky. Also he's really hot? Like Neo said, Penth definitely has a type.

Speaking of a type, Penth likes piano, her band, dicking with Arlan, flirting, feeling in control... Also she's basically using a full-body magical physical enhancement 24/7 and is sad that no one can really stand up to her. Nyl couldn't even sense she was using magic when she was obviously using magic. Nyl is very much interested in Penth. They shared a psychic connection for a bit, and Nyl saw how strong she really is. Nyl is very, very much interested.

So basically Nyl was planning to try to get a read on the PoS endgame and didn't really think it would be easy to figure out, but Penth volunteered from basically minute one that the two of them are mostly just in it for the lols, which is kind of what Nyl expected. Also they very quickly denied being involed with the cult, which Nyl also expected but didn't think she'd learn to readily. Between that and some other stuff, Nyl decided that while she's definitely not going to trust her completely, she's also not going to bother keeping too many secrets. Actually, Nyl even let her see past her usual upbeat facade a few times. About the only things Nyl intentionally avoided mentioning is exactly where the HoTs are (she knows they're in the Farlands - but it seems they can't see into Shangri-La, interesting), the daughter, and her theory that Arlan can't see them with his power. Oh, and Nyl hinted but never outright said that Selene thinks Juli knows a secret about Arlan.

Long story short, they bonded over their love of dicking over the cult. Nyl let Penth in on her DOUBLE-REVERSE DISTRACTION plot. Penth decided this is a good chance to yoink the scepter from Arlan. Nyl agreed to help by letting her suck out some of her memories so they can pinpoint the scepter's location, and by going over the maps Penth has of the cult HQ. While she's not particularly fond of the idea of the PoS having this scepter, she'd way rather him have it than Arlan. He might try to mind-control Ninian again. Jerk.

In return she found out that Pinky is the one leading the cult's southern expedition, and that Juli's probably in Dragonhold. Which the cult is rebuilding. But as much as Nyl considered going there immediately, she's going to be a good little demoness and keep up the ruse right up until the end. Afterward it's going to be time to start putting together the final plan. Penth even offered give her a more specific location if she found it.

Why's the cult in Dragonhold? Because there's a something of the coiled snake in the mountains. Something the gold order and cult both really want. The cult so no one else can use it, the gold order because reasons. Something that gives people Arlan's ability but not as strong. Something Penth very much wants. Something that Nyl suddenly also very wants. Because, y'know, witch. Their whole thing is future sight and playing with Fate. Also Nyl's quirk.

What else... Oh. Penth also casually mentioned she invented psionics. She's also very curious how Nyl knows how to use them. Nyl she just could after drinking Juli's blood, and Penth suddenly seemed a bit more interested in her.

Other than that... some dancing, some flirting. Really nice dinner. Penth mentioned she'd love to spend the night together. Nyl said she'd share her interest with Rai. She was not bluffing. Though she's also going to be clear she wasn't seriously considering it, especially considering the whole Aria/Seren/Izzy thing. She'll share the other stuff, too.

Not sure why Neo didn't think they'd get along so well. They have so much in common. To the point Nyl briefly had the thought 'I never did ask who my mother was. It's possible I have more sisters.'


Also if that mug is still going for 150G, she'll grab one tomorrow.
