Mini session stuff in case anyone is interested:
Raven asked Kartal some stuff while he was teaching her. Mostly it was just some stuff about his experiences. However, she learned that Reginald is a paranoid guy who resorts to being a lying bastard to keep a low profile. He's gotten into a lot of real secretive things and has good intel because people think he's a fool. Really, he's such a badass summoner that he almost succeded in binding a Jormangand. Yes, he failed and lost part of his arm, but the important part is that he survived, and was unbelievably close to actually doing it. He's also been hiding that he's a changelins as well, and has even visited the fae capital before.
Other than that, we did some stuff that would be offscreen, set after everyone gets back to the village.
I spent a daily spell and my last fate point for Raven to cover up the fact that Seren told everyone about Sephira being an empyrean. I did pass after the fate point. But I did this because Neo said after session (while I was discussing this idea) that the bumbling Aeva and Seren managed when they tried to cover this up would come back to bite us. After I go through everything, spend so much on it, and have RP it really well, today he said Sephira was already over it and wasn't remaining suspicious. A full 180 from what he said before.
So. That was a waste.
But, for the record, the official story is that Raven could see Sephira was half dragon because of her new quirk, but was confused because she couldn't identify the heritage at all, and Aeva picked up on it (being an inquisitor and all) and ran with it. And, as such, Aeva's behavior back in the forest was a very slight- but in no way insidious- attempt to bait out more information. That's what Raven has said. Behind closed doors she agreed on Seren's part in it. And then that becomes that Seren's inability to react naturally comes from her knowing the truth about Sephira but being caught off guard by Aeva's play, and her trying to figure out subtly what Aeva knew.
Anyway. Sephira went after that to go fight Seren. She suggested an actual brawl instead of sparring. They agreed to take it just outside the village. Selene wanted to see it, and Raven tagged along with Selene, because of course.
Sephira got one-punched.
And then Selene wanted to fight. She and Seren began bantering, trading some really low blows. It's been so fun to play. Neo had to leave because he picked up a last minute shift, so the fight has been left off in the middle.

Hey, Neo, when you do the armor for cheese can you also do the trident?

You can do the trident first.

It's also not an immediate concern. Nyl has no intention of fighting anything. Actually.., if she has a chance to pick off a cultist or three she'd love to, I'm the one who doesn't intend her to be fighting. I was assuming she wouldn't actually have to fight anyone for her little plan.

Will do Trident sooner, since that's much easier. I still have my stuff for it somewhere. Armor is a whole set that has to be made and I'm having a bit of trouble with it. I.E stuck/stumped. Which is why it's taking so long.

Got bored at work. Very bored. Imagined Schism karaoke session. Very, very bored. No idea where that came from, but I'd already drafted out what's happening next in the stuff I'm writing, so. Bast: Opens with Welcome to the Jungle Warin: I wanna Rock! (ROCK!) with his dad. Val: Claire de Lune, played on a harp. He didn't get the memo about how exactly karaoke works. Aeva: A capella rendition of Flight of the Bumblebee Aria: Looks like she's going to do some operatic thing, but then does Cher's Believe Raven: And I-I-I-I-I-I will Always Love You... Nyl and Rai: I Need a Hero followed by Kryptonite Sephy: Everybody was KUNG-FU FIGHTING! with her crew Idoun: Keeps starting to go out, getting embarrassed, and running off, but finally comes out to do Do You Believe in Magic Raj: A traditional dragon-y folk song Selene and Aaron: Some love song, I couldn't decide Seren: Let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the Artemis, in full dragon form: FLOOOOOOOOOOOR! And then Arlan explodes through the wall. Dressed as Freddie. "Don't Stop me Now!" with his crew.

Hey Neo what are the rules about swapping talents again? I know you need a reason to justify it in character but what else? Was it only at level-ups, tier-shifts, incremental advances...?
If it isn't obvious I was looking at Aeva's stuff and Leadership just doesn't seem to fit anymore. Also to Hell with Paladin's Challenge.

There are some guidelines and suggestions in 13th Age, but it's mostly up to the GM. So this is what I'm going to do.
Spells and lesser powers can be swapped out at any Full Heal-Up without needing in-story justification, as long as your class allows you to swap them.
Feats can be swapped out for equivalent feats at a level up, and requires in-story justification.
Talents can be swapped out either at a long full-heal up(So a full rest of at least a couple days in a city) or a level up, but requires a strong in-story justification. You can sit down and talk with me about it before session, or PM me stuff here.
Choices for Incremental Advances can be changed when you level up.

I can definitely justify taking Zeal. The Vault talents are fair game, right? Though I think after the SST I could justify Implacable a lot better. But as for justifying losing Paladin's Challenge or Leadership... Might need some help with that part.
(Mostly) unrelated question, are we likely to get an Incremental Advance before the big bad boss?

I don't have any Incremental Advances planned, so it's unlikely, but not impossible.

Summary!
The party head out to the Northern most village in Shangri-la, Yakumo Village, where Ukanlos' raging holds the most danger because of its power. They set-up camp where Aeva asks Bast to help her get over her kittyphobia, and then they get ambushed by orcs. Half way into the fight, an ivory Lagi attacks too. Afterward, they reach Yakumo where the mysterious denizen of the Seven Stars Temple meets us, Chen Gong. He tries to flirt with the girls but it goes poorly. Warin is his best bet.

Mou, mou. No no.
BTW when I said Nyl and Raven and some of the NPCs were closer to a 'normal' 13th Age power level, I should point out they're still pretty far above it.

I've been bombarding Neo with about 3 months of backlogged questions this week, and I'm starting to get an idea together. Now it's time to get GX and Cheese involved! Because GX loves this sort of plotting and Cheese is a voice of reason.
Summary of what I learned! Nyl can make a demonic contract with people. It takes either a few hours of 1d4 days for big stuff also it requires catalyst materials. Also there's a risk of failure ranging from annoying to minor cosmetic stuff like mussed hair (worth -10 CHA until finding a brush) to some lost recoveries to horrible maiming to uhhhhh death but let's don't worry about that. Other guy has to be willing and also present during the contract ritual. Also since Nyl's kinda like a really high-tier demon she can cut some pretty crazy deals.
Basically! For Nyl's thinking. Whatever's going to happen at the SST. If it's as big as people implied? Which she clearly already believes. Arlan's probably going to be pissed when he finds out. And might do something drastic/retaliatory. And even if he doesn't, he'll probably have everything locked down tight enough rescuing Julie becomes unlikely. Also that's kind of Nyl's #1 goal since, uh... the day she gave up being a court mage. So! Now's possibly the last chance to make a move anytime soon.
She was going to just try to send Julie a message. We'll call that plan A. Since last she heard, Julie kinda hates Nyl's guts. Since someone smashed up the note Nyl left her. Sending her the right message might make that a bit better? Make her a little less likely to attack all-out on sight? Like... at least a hello before running her through?
That was plan A. But. This might be a solid opportunity to go for broke. I do have two ideas in mind. Let's call them "Operation: This is a Terrible Plan and Crow Already Sees Exactly how it will Backfire" and "THE SLAMBOOZLE." But I wanna hear if either of you have an ideas or thoughts before I say anything about those.
Keep in mind that in this case the question isn't 'does Arlan know what I'm planning?' Yes. He does. The question is 'does he care?'
Also any plan that boils down to 'ask Raizel to kick down the front door' is vetoed.

Kinda important question/clarification.
How much does Selene know of what Nyl's planning? Like, Selene obviously knows Nyl wants to rescue Julie. She does too. But does Selene know Nyl's actively trying to contact her?
Also, before I forget: Zasa's charms. 1/character. Breaks after one use. Reduces one of Ukan's attacks by 20 damage.
