An idea pops into your head, so you move over to Iris. You quietly inform her not to react as you tell her what you found when you searched Corva's room. You also tell her about your suspicion that Corva may suspect your own presence through Iris' reactions to you. Iris then signals to you with her hand held under the table, showing her acknowledgement. Next you tell her you wish to attempt something and that she should still not show an outward reaction that Corva might see. Again Iris signals you with her hand, so you ack on a hunch of yours. You float strait through Iris and as you do you feel a small surge of power, but judging by the hand sign she's giving you now Iris did not enjoy that experience. Luckily neither Corva nor Bennita seem to have noticed your actions and the meal proceeds just as quietly as it had from the start. A few minutes later and the meal is over. As soon as Bennita left the room though both of the young mages stood up from their respective seats. Corva quickly cuts to the chase, "So how are we going to do this 'little miss compassionate'? We going to duke it out on the beach or are you going to try and wriggle out of the fight again." Did she just use air quotes? Man this witch has an annoying attitude.

Well how should you advise Iris to proceed? A) fight Corva head on. initiates a battle in which Iris must keep her Hp healed until Corva exhausts all of her own Mp. B) negotiate for a talisman contest. RNG chance wether or not Corva will accept this, but guaranteed success in recruiting her if she does. C) give up go to bed. Note: Corva will reject a drinking contest automatically now because you tried that angle already. Thats why its not an option now.

I'd say B if I knew the chances. Is it completely random or is there a hidden percentage for choices like this?

I'd say B if I knew the chances. Is it completely random or is there a hidden percentage for choices like this? There is a set percentage, but you don't get to know what it is. Ps. If Iris' hp hits 0 during the fight it is game over, this CYOA has permadeath.

I suppose I'll vote B then, it's at least guaranteed if it succeeds.

You very much want to put this smug little witch in her place, but you are fairly sure that Corva has some serious power. With that in mind you urge Iris to negotiate for a safer form of combat. Iris heads your suggestions and speaks, "I'll take you on, but lets do something constructive with our magic. How about a talisman battle." Corva crosses her arms and huffs, " Fine whatever, I can still show you up that way, besides I'd probably have killed you in a proper fight. Any way bring out your blank talisman." Iris grimaces a little, "Well I don't have any blank talismans right now, but I do have some rani leaves if you're willing to trade." Corva sneers in response, "Why am I not surprised? The wishy-washy mage has the materials for talismans but doesn't have any talismans. I'm not letting you weasel out of this fight, give me 4 dozen rani leaves and I'll spot you a talisman." Iris pouts, "Sheesh thats a steep trade, but I'm tired of your attitude." Iris then opens the pouch and pulls out the rani leaves then states, "Here 4 dozen rani leaves. Time to nock you down a peg." Just then Bennita walks back into the room, prompting Corva to address her, "Miss inn keeper, I have a request. We need a witness for a talisman battle. Would you kindly do the honors?" Bennita responds with a frown, "Well, I'm not thrilled to have my guests fighting, you're at least being civil about it though. So I guess I'll witness so you to can settle whatever beef you have with each other."
