You tell her that she's OK.

Rita hugs her knees to her chest and hides her face.  She mutters something, but you can't make it out.  When you ask her to repeat herself, she snaps her head and stares at you.

"I said I'm not OK!" she snaps.  "I...  I survived... that, but...  B-but...  How long until he c-comes back, or some...  or some other demon tries to kill me, or eat me, o-or worse..."  She continues quietly, sadly.  "Sooner or later, my luck's going to run out.  No one will be there to save me...  And is anything really going to get better?  Just... more of the same, every day.  Struggling to find food, not to die..."

She returns to her tucked position.  You hear her sniffling a bit, and she shudders slightly.  "I'm...  Is being OK really the best we have to look forward to?"

Rita sits for a few minutes.  "S-sorry..." she finally says.  "I'm just...  Not OK."

You tell her not to worry about it.  You don't mind listening.

Rita relaxes a bit.  "So, um...  Kira?  Why... were you in the library?"

You tell her about the dream, how you saw a bat getting killed in a library at 3.

"A bat...?  I really like bats," Rita says offhandedly.  "They're really...  Um...  Nevermind."

You stop and think for a moment, then tell her about Sara's dream and how she saved you, and about the rest of your dream.

"10 'o clock," Rita mutters.  "That's when George and Gregory almost killed each other..."

"Dreams predicting people's death.  It sounds like something out of...  w-well, we live in a world filled with demons, so I guess I shouldn't really question it too much.  I wonder if Bast knows anything about it?"

"Yep!" Bast answers.

You ask why she didn't say anything about it.

"I... didn't think to," Bast apologizes.

"Like I told you, there's several of us, not just Bast and I.  That would've been Hypnos' work.  He's not working directly with people like some of the rest of us.  He's only communicating with people through their dreams.  It's... kind of his thing."

You ask if he's the one that you saw the night before the demons appeared.

"Mm-hm!" Bast hums.  "That was him, all right!"

"He's sending out warnings to people about things that he - or others in our little group - predicts.  We're not perfect, but I'd say we have a really good track record."

"If people don't act on our predictions, they'll come true.  But, y'know, forearmed and forewarned or whatever you say!" Bast says.  "If you know what's going to happen, you can change it."

"Hey, um...  You said something was going to happen at 4?" Kumiko asks.

...Right.  The raccoon-looking thing.  It's almost 4.  You need to hurry.

B. Kumiko reminds me of a raccoon for some reason. My other option was George, but B.

You aren't sure who the raccoon-thing is, but tall buildings makes you think of downtown.  According to Bast's report, the only person you know downtown is Kumiko.  Could she be that raccoon-thing?  You tell Rita you need to hurry and ask if she'll be OK by herself for a bit.

"N-no, I'll come...  I'll come with you, if that's OK," Rita says.

The two of you head out.

A lone tamer thug is crawling around in the sewers chasing a brown rat that stole his lunch.  "Stupid...  Beard-having rat.  Messed up little thing.  Stealing my lunch...  Gonna find him and grill him for dinner."

He hears a skittering noise.  "GOTCHA!" he yells, lashing out.  The rat skitters by, easily dodging his attack and disappearing back into the darkness.

"Ugh, get back here!" he yells.  "Stupid dark...  Pyro Jack!"  Pyro Jack emerges from his phone.  The exposed rat dives into a crack in the wall.  "Not a chance!  Uberellis!"  A rock demon emerges.  "Smash the wall!"

Too late the tamer notices the warning signs.  Uberellis breaks through not only the wall, but a large pipe, as well.  Gas spills out, exposed to Pyro Jack's lantern.

Kira and Rita, still three blocks away, are thrown to the ground as the earth shakes from the explosion.

"Wh...  What was... that?" Rita asks as she collects herself.

You tell her you have no idea.  You go running toward the source of the blast.  Rita dusts herself off and starts following behind you.

The two of them find a large hole is the middle of the street, as if something had exploded from beneath the road.  The remains of a few demons are scattered around.  A pair of demon tamers are there.  One is dead.  From the level of his injuries, he appears to have been at the heart of the explosion.  The other is much better off.  Kumiko lies sprawled against a wall.  Kira casts Dia, and Kumiko begins to stir.  Kumiko shakes her head, dazed.

"Ungh...  Wha...  Kira?" she mutters.  "Ri... ta?  What's...?"

You tell her she was injured, and that she needs to hold still.  Kira continues casting heal spells.

"I'm...  Ow.  Sore.  But I'll live." Kumiko says, rising.  "Oh...  Oh no."

You follow her eyes across the road to a relatively short building.  The entrance is covered by rubble.  Between the damage from all of the demons and fighting and the blast, the building is in an extremely precarious condition, and looks like it could collapse at any moment, as do several others.

"No, no, no...!" Kumiko starts to repeat, pushing past you and moving towards the building.  "Guys, you've got to help me!  My parents are in there!"

Throwing caution to the wind, you join Kumiko in rushing towards the building on the verge of collapse.  Kumiko summons her Jambavan and orders him to start clearing the rubble from the door.  As the two of them pull out a large piece of debris, the pile shifts, and more large chunks come tumbling down.  Kumiko steps back, avoiding them as they fall.  Undeterred, she immediately returns to her task.  Rita stands back hesitantly, watching the building closely.

"I...  I think the upper floor's going to collapse!" she warns you.

"We've got to hurry!" Kumiko answers.

You join her, calling out King Frost and Nekomata, your strongest demons.  Even they don't have too much raw physical power, so far as demons go...  But they can still move much, much more than a normal human.  With Kumiko's help, you start clearing more debris.  You toss a few more pieces aside, partially clearing the door, only to have another small cave-in destroy your progress.  The building groans ominously.

(A) Try going as fast as possible!
(B) Slow and careful
(C) Look for another way in
(D) Try something else (you'll have to come up with this one on your own)
(E) Back off, and pull Kumiko back
