Then why didn't you post that he won instead of saying he was close? That's misleading.

Maybe I want to be misleading? Hmm? Did you ever think of that? In all seriousness, it was because I wanted him to choose one or the other, and I didn't think it was an official guess, but more of a fishing attempt. Waah, I'm sorry! I'm exhausted! Stop grilling me! How dare you!

So I had a couple of questions of my own
Who would have been your second choice to write for if Trail wasn't selected? Also if Trail wasn't chosen in the very beginning would we eventually run into him and would he be radically different? Finally, who would been your number two choice if for some reason we chose to go a different route instead of the one leading to Kansis?

My second choice was Freya. She has such an interesting backstory. Yes, you would have eventually met Trail, but he would have been quite different. Instead of the heroic idealist we all know and love, he would have succumbed to his sorrow and loneliness, and would have been a brooding hermit with an extreme hatred of humanity. In fact, Trail would have been the first boss of the CYOA if everyone had chosen Mithos. For everyone else, you would have had to complete a small Sidequest to enlist his help. However, because he is such an important plot character, you would have met him regardless, as an essential NPC in Book 3 if you never recruited him. Basically, all roads lead to Trail. As I've mentioned before, if everyone hadn't chosen to rescue Kanis, she would have died trying to escape from Midgard. My second choice is obviously Cleo. If everyone had voted to go to the Magic Capital Neflheim, instead of Drakia, then Trail would have met the lovely Snow Leopard Laguz, Cleo, and the beautiful Manakete Lynne, apprentice of the Divine Dragon. And if the Merchant Capital was chosen, then you would have met Leah a lot earlier.

Well... Everyone did jump ship. As a romance perspective it was first girl wins. From normal, Helga should have won....

Hey you. Kanis is Kanis. How dare you say that she should have died.

Helga and Trail would have certainly been an interesting pair. Maybe if I was a voter on gamefaqs back then.
Anyways back on topic
From what I read about the culture and Jeckle in particular they have an interest in Trails for some obvious and not so obvious reasons.
Would they be extremely different if we selected a different starting character?

No. While they might have used some different methods, the Culture as a whole would have been the same, and their motivations/goals would have been the same.

I dunno, can we?
I think we might need Deus Ex Neo to do it.

We all know how this scene is going to turn out.
Oh no everyone looks like they are dead but wait....
A voice/object/artifact/ generic plot device comes in at the last minute and fills our hero's with new life and weakning Belial just enough to not be so OP then the real second phase begins.

Not exactly. Anna really hated you guys this round. You would have gotten the first Game Over of UB, if you hadn't sent Terra after the Guardstone. And I hope you aren't accusing me of being a predictable writer. Because, let's face it, I'm really not.

Depend for me, sometimes I'm predictable, and sometimes I just throw a hard curve with the options. BL I-III are easy so far, but I plan on that changing for 4-6. Anyway, this isn't my topic, so I apologize Neo.
Is there anything we should look out for?

I wouldn't say predictable ( besides that's my style ). As a veteran of RPG's I thought it was one of those hey look everyone dies. No wait some how last minute everyone gets save due to a miracle. Also I thought this was your way of introducing his 2nd form. Besides we all know who the predictable one on this board 'cough Mr. X cough' lol Besides why does everyone blame Anna for everything? She just wants to be loved liked anyone else? She is a loving goddess ( not saying that b/c she is a central character in my cyoa). If anything she is misunderstood sure maybe a little mischievous but then again who isn't. Okay back on topic. I didn't know this was Anna's fury usually we get that after a stupid decision and there was no votes BTW his first and second form thats why I thought it went like this.... Everyone gets crush. Terra grabs the orb. Everyone is back in fighting shape. Vote on strategy for second form. Geez you can't be the most sensitive one here lol that title belongs to me you can't have it you meanie lol

The RNG chance was for the Shockwave to deal so much damage. It was supposed to simply push everyone back. What happened had like a 10% chance of actually happening, hence why I said Anna hated you this time.
But, Kara is still alive, and Terra still has the Guardstone, so it's all good. In fact, this battle just got a lot easier, because Anna felt bad and decided to be nicer. Terra will now be fighting with you, for the remainder of the battle with Belial.
Plus, you get a bit more backstory on Leah, a couple hints, and another appearance of Spoiler! So everything turned out okay.
