Well, that was quick and easy. Just like I like it. OP Phoenix wins by a landslide, and is locked. Will update today, though I'm not sure what time.

Why... Why does this armor look so familiar? Feel so familiar? I swear I've seen it before...
Terra abruptly shakes her head, banishing the thought. Now wasn't the time to allow her thoughts to wander. She has a mission to complete, and this armor would certainly help her do so. She tentatively removes the armor from its resting place, bracing herself for some kind of trap. Nothing happens. The armor feels warm in her hands, but it is a gentle warmth, like the warmth of a mother's embrace. Surprisingly, even shockingly, the armor fits her perfectly, like it was custom tailored just for her. She effortlessly slips it over her head, securing it around her chest, and immediately, the armor begins to sing with power. A bright green light emanates from the armor, before dimming to a soft, constant glow. She might need to move around a bit, as she wasn't used to wearing armor-especially not armor with hip guards- but... It felt natural. Like she had been wearing this same piece for years.
Well, now let's see if she can swim in it... Only one way to find out.
-----
"Does this ever end?" You complain in exasperation, as the twisting highway goes on and on. And on. Your poor feet feel like they're going to fall off. "By the time we finally reach Belial, we'll be too tired to stand. Let alone fight."
A flicker of amusement crosses Kara's face, though it quickly switches to concern. "Maybe you're right... We should take a rest."
You sigh, shaking your head. "No, I'll be fine. Let's just press on. The end can't be too far now."
"Um... Actually, I don't think we're even at the halfway point yet..."
You stop dead in your tracks, unleashing your best no nonsense glare at the ghost. "What...? Don't play with me Kara. I'm tired, hungry, grouchy, and I bite."
Kara immediately shrinks back, seeking shelter behind Lazzy, who only sighs. "Now, now. No need to fight girls. And Leah, there's no need to eat anyone. There is a very simple solution to this predicament."
You merely blink, too stunned to react, as Lazzy quickly scoops you up into his arms. "Hey, put me down! Let me go, you big oaf!"
He only laughs, silencing your protests with a long kiss. "Weren't you just complaining you needed to rest? This seems like a fine compromise to me. You get to rest, and we still get to press on. See? Everyone wins."
You bury your face in his chest and wrap your arms around his neck. "I hate you," you say sullenly.
Again, he just laughs. "I know love. I love you too."
Kara giggles, but a quick glance from you shuts her up faster than a bolt of lightning from the blue. She slinks away like a skittish kitten. You sigh. Again. Why did I insist on this mission, again?

The Island of Caer Paveil, Castle of Memories...
"Impossible," Jeckel breathes, more in disbelief than anger. "That bloodline should have ended centuries ago, when we sealed the Eldest... And now, not one, but two heirs are revealed?"
"That was quite the oversight," Charon replies calmly, looking up from his novel. "How unlike you. Is there interference?"
The mad doctor gives a derisive snort. "Obviously. You can't tell me you believe this unprecedented gathering of fools is purely coincidental."
This earns the Ferryman's attention, at least enough for him to set down his book. "You mean to suggest some force is intentionally working against us? Impossible. We have accounted for all the players on the stage."
Jeckel whirls around, a wild look of lunacy in his eye. "See?! Everything points that this is impossible. All our careful calculations, all our knowledge, our plans... Nowhere did anything suggest this was possible. Not even a teensy, tiny hint. And yet, presto! Logic would suggest our friendly shadow player is beyond even our field of vision."
And that, is enough, to make Charon's eyes widen. Is this... Fear? Or... Excitement? "Beyond even us, you say... We, the Nine, Hands of the Shepherd, wielders of the Ancient Scrolls, rulers of the stars... Beyond we, when not even the Beginning is beyond us... How can we combat a foe that could not possibly exist?"
A small, frightening grin spreads across Jeckel's lips. "Ah, but that's the genius of it, old friend. How do you combat a foe that can bend existence itself? Why, by not existing of course. Still, I have a feeling these shadows will reveal themselves in time... All we have to do is wait, and continue our plans in the meantime."
While Charon sits contemplating this, the gates to the Great Hall swing open, revealing a tall, elegant woman in white. Her tall heels echo on the stone floor, as she kneels at Jeckel's feet. "Master, I bear mixed news."
The Lord of Madness grins fondly. "Ah, hello to you too my pet... Please, continue."
"The last stage of the plan is set. Everything is in motion. All we need do now is await the opportune moment. However... I am certain you are already aware, but the Failure and Reject have met. If things continue as they are now, there is a dangerously high chance the Chaosborn may discover our objective."
"Yes, I am indeed well aware," Jeckel sighs in irritation. "The Chaosborn, the Twin Dragons, the Divine Dragon, the Eldest, the Saintess, the goddess, the All-Father, and now the Prisoner... Throw a few washed up Earth Clansmen into the mix, and you got a real party... 'Tis truly a gathering of fools."
The Doctor's poor pet seems perplexed, if only for a moment, and Charon smiles slightly. "Disregard your master's ramblings, Legretta. He is in a foul mood today. Suffice to say, we already know of what you speak. Now, on to different matters... Is the Traveler still giving you trouble?"
A brief look of shame, even anger, passes over her sculpted features, though it is quickly replaced by her usual icy self. "I am ashamed to admit it, but yes. Duncan is still regaining his memories, and it's proving more and more difficult to control him. But I promise, his futile attempt at rebellion will not last long. Within a fortnight at most, he will simply be a lizard on a chain. A very big lizard, but a lizard nonetheless."
Charon inclines his head, satisfied. "Very good. I expect great things from you, O Witch of Time. You are dismissed. But before you go... Where is my number three and four?"
"Last I checked, three is preparing the Unknown Element for battle. I believe four is still in Jotunheim. Would you like me to contact them, master?"
Charon nods once more. "As always, your initiative impresses me. Tell three to come back here as soon as he's done. He is to accompany Doctor Jeckel to the Forgotten's Tomb. Inform four he is to search the Black Tower. We must be certain if the Prisoner has escaped or not."
Legretta bites her tongue for a moment, before standing and bowing. "Of course. Your will shall be done, master. But... If I may speak freely, you know how stubborn the Reaper is. I find it highly unlikely he'll do anything, until he gets rid of his current obsession."
Charon introduces his face to his palm. "Remind me why I place so much trust in that fool? Fine, tell four he has permission to exterminate the Laguz Village. But tell him to do so quickly. Time is of the utmost importance here."
Legretta bows once more, turning on her heel. She only makes it halfway to the exit however, when the Ferryman's booming voice stops her. "Oh, and Legetta? Permission granted. You may test the Chaosborn as you see fit."
A malevolent smile creeps across her serene features, and she keeps on walking.

"Does he really intend to defeat us with this?!" You bark, slicing another Gargoyle in half. You step back to parry a blow from a Risen Warrior, sending it's Silver Axe flying before lopping off its head. You while around and plunge your blade into the gut of another Risen. It growls before dissipating into dust.
The long, winding walkway opened up onto a large platform, as wide as a small city. On the other side, the walkway continues further into the horizon. You immediately pointed this place out as a likely ambush spot, and as it turns out, you were right. Lazzy casually wades through the horde of demons and Risen, sending half a dozen flying at once with a single swipe of his massive axe. Kara hovers behind him, picking off any that manage to escape Lazzy's rampage. He wades towards the thick of the horde, where you stand, cutting down enemies left and right.
"He isn't stupid!" Kara shouts back in warning. "Belial knows this isn't enough to stop us! He's trying to slow us down!"
You sidestep a Risen Paladin's wild charge, slashing the undead horse's legs from out beneath it. It goes crashing to the ground behind you, crushing its rider, and you waste no time decapitating a Risen Hero foolish enough to charge you. Lazzy and Kara finally cleave a path to you, and you're a bit surprised by the wrathful look in Lazzy's eyes.
"Don't you ever do that again," he growls, moving to guard your back. "That was utterly foolish, Leah, charging headlong into a known ambush. What were you thinking?!"
You lean back against him, your back against his, and smile sheepishly. "Sorry... I promise I won't do it again. Forgive me?"
He sighs. "Of course... As long as you keep that promise."
With the three of you reunited, the remaining Risen don't stand a chance. Well, they never did really. The last Risen returns to dust, and you sheathe your blade. "Well, that was fun. But why did-"
You're interrupted by Lazzy crushing you into his arms. You don't object. "Sorry," you whisper quietly. "I didn't mean to worry you."
He lovingly kisses the top of your head. "Just don't do it again. Don't make me bear the thought of losing the woman I love."
You practically melt. "Oh Lazzy..."
You lean up to kiss him, only to remember the important thought you had. But Lazzy doesn't let you pull away so quickly. When he finally does, your thoughts are scrambled, and it takes a moment to catch your breath. "Hey Kara... You said Belial was just trying to slow us down. Do you know why?"
Kara ponders the question for a moment, before her eyes suddenly widen. "Oh Origin no... He must be trying to draw power from the Heart!!"
You blink. "And I take it that's bad?"
Kara nods, now as pale as a... Well, a ghost. "You have no idea. Drawing power from the Heart would mean awakening it... And doing so would be terribly bad... For starters, if he succeeds in absorbing the Heart, I doubt even the three Primals could stand against him."
"We'll see about that," Lazzy says darkly. "I'd like to see him stand against my true power."
You giggle. "Too bad you don't have your true power anymore."
Lazzy doesn't respond, and you look up at him questioningly. Has he managed to regain his power?
You open your mouth to ask him, when suddenly everything goes horribly wrong.
-------
Terra finally emerges from the underwater tunnel, finding herself in a large underground chamber. "Okay... Now where do I go?"
Luckily, her question is answered by the reappearance of a familiar spirit in white.

A massive shockwave explodes from somewhere in the distance, with a sound like cracking thunder. Your eyes widen, and you're given no chance to react. The shockwave slams into you, forcing you to your hands and knees. You yelp in surprise, as the gravity suddenly intensifies exponentially, and the air turns thick and heavy. You... You can barely breathe!
"What's... What's going on?!" You gasp, trying to turn your head. A sharp pang of pain stabs your neck as you do, and you cry out in pain. You can't even move, your body feels like it weighs a million pounds! The air, it's... It's crushing you!
"Leah!" Lazzy cries out in warning, startling you. "Don't try to move! You'll break every bone in your body!"
"That's gonna happen anyway if we don't do something!" You gasp, struggling to breathe.
"It's the Heart!" Kara gasps. "Father must be trying to awaken the Heart!"
As if in answer, another shockwave explodes from the horizon, and another, and another, each emitting an earsplitting sound louder than a thunderclap. Your ears ring, and your vision dims. You hear a dull shouting, like someone is trying to tell you something, but your hearing is mostly gone. Your head spins, and you begin to lose consciousness. Then, the barrage of shockwaves abruptly cease. Everything stops, returning to that eery silence. You remain on your hands and knees, your arms shaking, barely conscious. You try to move your head, only for a pain unlike anything you've ever felt to shoot up your spine. You scream.
"LEAH!!!"
You collapse into Lazzy's arms, unconscious.
-----
"Where are you taking me?" Terra asks the spirit, as it leads her down a new set of tunnels.
The spirit presses her finger to her lips, motioning for silence. "Shh. You'll wake Him."
Him? Who's 'Him'?

Your eyes slowly flutter open, and you find yourself lying on the ground, resting with your head in Lazzy's lap. "How are you feeling?" He asks softly, his voice brimming with concern.
You sit up slightly, your head throbbing. "My head feels like I just took a nosedive off Mount Stormfrost. But other than that, I'm okay."
Lazzy pulls you back down into his lap, and you don't object. "I'm sorry for worrying you," you whisper softly, turning a bit in his lap.
He sighs and buries his large hand in your hair. Hmm... You aren't going to lie. It feels rather... Nice. "It's not your fault, kitten. Just rest for now. It will take some time for the Elixir to fully work. And besides..."
"It's not safe to charge recklessly forward like you usually do," Kara says fondly with a smile. "Not now that the Heart has been awakened. Remember those effects I warned you about? We're going to start feeling them a lot more. We should probably wait for the Guardstone before we..."
"But how?" You blurt out suddenly, without thinking. "Now that Dol is..."
You instantly regret your words, and the look on poor Kara's face makes you feel like crap. "Don't count him out yet," she whispers softly. "Dol is a powerful warrior. I... I have faith in him."
You merely close your eyes, deciding it's better if you don't open your stupid mouth again. You snuggle closer into Lazzy's arms, craving his warmth. He gladly wraps his arms around you, and you heave a heavenly sigh. Your eyelids flutter shut in moments.
---------
"Behold the gates of oblivion, as they yawn open, to claim your very soul! From dust to dust, and to dust you shall return!"
He unleashes every ounce of his remaining power, slamming his blade into the ground with all his might. Fiery cracks spread across the stone floor, like miniature lightning bolts. "Are you insane?! You'll kill both of us! No, you'll destroy the entire land!"
"Mystic Arte! Endless Eclipse!!!"
The stone floor melts away, disintegrating, revealing a bottomless pit of fire, leading all the way down to Helheim itself. Both knights fall, plummeting through the towering inferno of fire and darkness. Tormented souls scream and rage, their sinewy burnt limbs reaching from the wall of flames, stealing the life of the one already dead. The two knights clash mid descent, until one abruptly halts mid air, as if the very darkness solidified only for him. His dark sword suddenly changes shape, elongating into a crackling spear of energy, a lightning bolt in his palm.
"Perish in the fires of the blackest night!"
He hurls the lightning bolt then, impaling his foe through the chest, sending him screaming into the fiery depths far below. The darkness carries him back to the surface, through the mobs of burnt faces and angry souls. Finally, he collapses on the stone floor, as the portal to Helheim closes. All around him, the chamber collapses. Rubble falls from above, rock, stone, furniture and more, and the once grand pillars topple like trees. "Damn... I've really messed up this time, haven't I... Should have known better... Too weak... Couldn't create the Sphere properly..."
Wait... The Guardstone! He still had to...!
Forgive me my lady... It seems I've failed you yet again.

Kara's prediction proves true not long after you wake. Your limbs feel heavier, and your sword arm is slower. Wiping out hoards of Risen is more... Challenging. But, your body begins to adapt, and you're a bit better off afterwards. Although... Dhaos kinda deserves the credit. Without his help, you'd probably be a lot worse for wear. Kara takes the brunt of the effects, being a ghost and all, but she deals with it like a champ. Even so, you pressure her to stay back and leave the fighting to you and Lazzy, and she eventually agrees. Though the occasional lightning bolt from behind helps quite a bit when dealing with hordes of flesh eating zombies. Lazzy simply plows through the effects like the adorable giant he is. But you have noticed he's a bit slow to react sometimes, and it worries you. You still can't get the thought out of your mind, that he was injured in the fall. The fall that was your fault.
You finally decide to approach him about it, after wiping out the latest batch of zombies. It was a particularly nasty battle, more so than usual, and you noticed Lazzy discreetly clutching his arm after the fight. You silently walk up behind him, gently taking his hand in yours. "Lazzy? Are you okay?"
He turns, and gives you an odd look, before smiling. "I'm fine, Leah. You don't need to worry about me."
You shake your head, realizing he just inadvertently confirmed your suspicions. "Don't lie to me, Lazzy. I can tell. You have a different smile when you're lying."
Said smile vanishes abruptly, and before he can reply, you lean up and kiss him. He holds you tight to him, and you don't complain. "The truth Lazzy," you whisper softly. "You were hurt in that fall, weren't you? When you jumped that chasm."
He gives a subtle nod, refusing to meet your gaze. "Forgive me kitten... I just didn't want to worry you. I promise, it's just a scratch. I'll be fine."
You sigh. "What am I going to do with you? Here, I should still have a vulnerary..."
You reach into your pack, only for him to gently grab your hand. "It's alright, Leah. I'll heal on my own. I'm immortal, remember? We best save our healing items for you."
You're about to protest, but Kara opens her big mouth before you can. "He's right, Leah. Besides... We've got bigger problems. Look."
Kara points straight ahead, and you follow her finger, only to notice the dark storm on the horizon. A storm that wasn't there before. "It's time," Kara says ominously. "We can't wait for the Guardstone. We can't afford to. We have to stop Belial now."
Something in Kara's tone made you think it unwise to argue. "Best we go then," you agree seriously. "I can't wait to go home to a nice warm bed."

Glacial Cave BF6
"Quickly, this way. We're running out of time."
Terra hurries after the spirit, turning a bend at a dead sprint. The labyrinth of caves and tunnels abruptly opens into a great cavern of ice and stone, littered with gleaming crystals. Terra shivers, and her breath mists. It's... It's f-freezing in here. "W-What is this place?" She stammers.
"A place from long ago. What you seek lies here. I will help you find it."
"Why?" Terra asks suddenly. "Why help me?"
"To make amends."
-------
It was a massive storm, a hurricane full of malevolence and hate, of dark frothing clouds and crimson lightning. The twisting path narrows, ending abruptly in a large, jagged cliff, almost like snake teeth. The storm raged just beyond this cliff, and on this precipice, stood a familiar figure clad in glistening ebony armor. Belial's eery chanting echoed above the roar of the storm, and it appeared to respond to his will. Then, you realize, that storm must be the Heart.
"I must commend you," the dark deity praises suddenly, turning, as you approach. "I honestly did not believe you would make it this far. In hindsight, that was quite foolish of me. The Ultimate Weapon, the ancient Lord of Flames, and my own daughter... It was naïve of me to underestimate such a powerful combination."
"Thanks for the compliment," you say sarcastically. "But I'm still going to kill you."
Belial laughs. It is the insane cackle of a madman, one that's eerily familiar. "Why the rush? Don't you want to know the truth?"
You reluctantly lower your sword, though only a bit. "You're just stalling for time. And I already know quite a bit."
"Maybe... Maybe not. You know, while I didn't expect this outcome, this is certainly the outcome I hoped for. At first I thought you were the original Ultima, the original Empress of Destruction. My greatest creation, and the twisted offspring of my Grandfather's sick experiments, Adolf Strauss. But I was wrong. You are the second Ultima, the Ultima created only a few years ago, by Doctor Jeckel himself. Leah Silvarant, if memory serves. Ironically, the same name as the original Ultima. A child of royal blood, stolen from her parents, turned into the Ultimate Shadow... Are you sure, my dear? I have so much to tell you."
You grit your teeth, clenching the hilt of your sword with a white knuckled grip. "Yes, I'm sure. I don't want to hear your lies. I will find out the truth of my past myself, on my own. But... Before I kill you, tell me one thing. What do you know of Windbrook?"
Belial blinks, then bursts into a fit of maniacal laughter. "THAT?! That's what you want to know?! I can reveal the secrets of the universe to you, the mysteries of your past, and all you want is to know about that miserable little village?! Fine, I'll tell you. My grandfather, Adolph, worked with Doctor Jeckel long before I. He was a chief advisor and disciple of his, and a truly brilliant man. My grandfather sought the same thing I do: control over the Heart. But, he went about it a bit... Differently. He surmised that the Heart was the source of all energy, and the way to the Heart could only be unlocked by a comparable source of energy. He tried a great many ideas, before it finally hit him. What is the source of life? What is the difference between a corpse and a living person? The soul. You see, while Necromancy can revive the dead, not even the greatest Necromancy can restore a soul. That power is reserved for the Creator alone. But... If he could somehow harness the power of the soul..."
Your vision turns red. "So what? He tortured those innocent people, just for some crazy Experiment?"
Belial laughs. Again. You're really starting to hate this guy. "Oh please, spare me your righteous indignation, clever little girl. Yes, that is exactly what he did. So now you know. What now, little weapon? Even if you kill me, it's too late. The Heart has awakened. Without someone to control it, the Heart will run wild, and destroy everything. Your world included. So what will you do? Kill me anyway? Go ahead. Fulfill your destiny. You are nothing but a tool, a sword long since abandoned by its wielder. You know nothing but destruction, war, and sorrow. And you will never know anything else. You aren't even human! You are nothing! A shadow doomed to fade! You are worthless-"
Belial's tirade abruptly ends, when a giant glowing axe whirls through the air, lodging in Belial's face in a shower of blood. You turn to Lazzy, surprised, and you pale a bit, seeing his dark expression. You... You've never seen him like that before.
Then, in a terrible scene, Belial pulls the axe from his face and hurls it aside, the wound instantly healing. "You poor pathetic fools... You really have no clue what you're up against... Fie! Enough. I shall grant you your deepest wish, little Leah. I shall grant you eternal peace! The darkest, most terrible slumber you can imagine! But don't fret my dear! I will send your fallen god to join you! And once I've peeled the flesh from your rotting corpses, I'll use the power of the Heart to make my daughter mine again!!!"
Belial's form begins to glow a dark, terrifying red. He hovers into the air, black lightning crackling about his form. "Tremble, O fools! For now you face the almighty Lord of the Abyss, Master of Darkness, and King of Sin! I am the original darkness! I am he who controls the Heart of All Things! Now, perish in the everlasting night of the Void!"

C: Leah and Lazareth fight separately, keeping Belial's focus divided, while Kara tries to create a rift. Focus on keeping Belial distracted.
Other Info: Leah has a 50% resistance to Dark Attribute attacks, meaning all Dark Damage is halved against her. The battlefield is very narrow and confined, ideal for a bottleneck.
