Yay Mystic!!!
Dual Blades and Sword and Shield are definitely much easier to use than Great Sword.

Hammer is the easiest to pick up, but it's hard to master with aiming for the head.
Gunlance is pretty complex, but isn't too hard to use.
The gunner weapons are very different, but Adept Bow is very good and very easy to learn, with Critical Distance being the biggest thing to learn.

SnS is especially beginner friendly since it allows you to use items without having to sheathe your weapon first. And DB is just plain fun, and is even more so in aerial style in this game.

Which of these weapons would you say lets you move the fastest?

SnS is also good for super-prepared hunting for monsters with item specific weaknesses like Nibelsnarf or Rathalos. Both have the same movement speed, tied with Hammer, Insect Glaive, Bow, LBG, and Charge Blade (Sword Mode) IIRC. DB has Demon Dashes in Demon and Archdemon mode.
Speaking of DB, apparently Aerial style gets access to a double spin ground attack without the need to combo into it, and it's really good at building the Demon Gauge.

None of the weapons actually increase your movement speed, but Dual Blades have the fastest attack speed by far. In Demon Mode with Wolf's Maw active, you can attack so fast with DB that you'll barely be able to see your character move. It's basically Unlimited Blade Works, because you can hit a monster dozens of times in only a few seconds. It's insane.
Edit: Oh right, I guess Demon Dashes do technically make you move faster.

Actually, SnS and DB have nearly equal attack speeds, but SnS requires specific combos and stuff (only available in Striker and Guild Style though). IG has a really good attack speed, though you need Red Extract to use it.

You can literally spam the spin attack with Aerial Style. Spin to win, baby. It's like the Dancer all over again.

Now I'm gonna start singing "She's a Maniac" whenever GX spams the spin.

DB just hits twice. SnS does have an awesome 7-hit combo, and IG with red extract can hit two to three times with each attack, and with Aerial, can hit up to six times in the air against big monsters like Gammoth.

Have you seen the Wolf's Maw/Demon Mode/Ground Spin combo with Aerial? It can hit a monster like twenty times per combo, it only takes a few seconds, and you can spam it until Wolf's Maw runs out.

Yep.
DB has more hits, but in terms of button-presses, the two are about the same.

I might be able to hunt. But maybe not right at the moment. A little while later, probably.

I won't be getting to the hotel until at least 9:00, but I might be able to hunt then.
