There isn't going to be a reception afterwards. After the ceremony, they're going to say goodnight to all of their, you know, two guests and retire for the night. That's all.

And marriage rituals in... that place Talia's from, it's been so long I forgot the name... are different than the rest of the world. Aw man, Serlen... fed Shalla the ceremonial cake or something, Talia witnessed it, boom. They're married. |

If you can come up with an idea that is perfectly reasonable and something Serlen and Shalla would do in-character, be my guest. My ears are open. To appease a deity or demigod while on some epic quest that they have to finish for whatever reason and that's the only way to progress, and they just didn't realize it would continue to be binding long afterwards? Or maybe, in a similar manner, they have to get married for the sake of their cover on a mission or something, and it turned out to be binding as well? Or it's a political move and they thought they could get out of it, when they really couldn't. Then there's the accidental obscure ceremony thing CDM mentioned. |
