Note: Feedback is always appreciated!
This is pretty much a trial run to see how my current system works. I'm going to take what I learn from this experience and hopefully finish balancing this system before I start the real thing. To those of you willing to participate in my (possibly crazy) experiment, thank you very much!
Basic stuff:
This is a Kingdom Hearts CYOA. It's set in the same timeframe as Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. The protagonist is, you guessed it, a keyblade wielder. Who is this protagonist?
That's the twist. Everyone will make their own protagonist, and their own choices will effect their story, making it unique for each character. Everything has it's own hidden value, there will be consequences for your actions. The little things do matter here. And even the seemingly small choices can have a long lasting impact. But that's enough info from me, I need to know about you!
Character Bio
Name: Appearance:
Personality: (choose one that best describes the character)
A. Laid back B. Loner C. Outgoing
Moral Code: (choose the one that best describes the character)
A. Always try to settle things peacefully B. The ends always justify the means C. Somewhere in between
Magic element of choice: (duh)
A. Wind B. Ice
And with that, I leave it up to you to decide. I'll give this a day, and then I'll procede.
Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Don't worry, you won't be limited to that element, it will just be the one your character is best with. Wind and Ice have their own utility both in and outside of combat. I'll probably add more choices to the final product as well. This is just a test run after all.

They are missing their counterparts in earth and fire, the more grounded elements. It gives the option a lopsided feel.
If you want 2, then Ice and fire or earth and air complement each other better.
Unless you specifically want the stormier elements for some particular reason. I have no knowledge of kingdom hearts other than the fact that I don't like many of the key blade designs. (They come across more as axes than swords to me and they look like they are meant to be wielded like swords)

If I had fire as an option, I'd have to find something about it that makes it useful for more than just offense. That might not seem so hard, but whatever else it would be useful for would have to be needed frequently, otherwise anyone who picks fire will essentially be cheated out of certain points in the hidden values, putting them at a percieved disadvantage when compared to the others.

Include dark areas. Braziers unlock hidden areas. Light and darkness puzzles in general. Melting ice. Freezing water and melting it may lead to different areas. I can think of a few more options, but nothing air can't do.

Note: I made big changes to my system, which is why this has taken so long. And since HHD hasn't been around, I just wrote it for our wind magic specialists.
Two children sit beside a lake in the middle of an open field. The lights coming from windows in the village become clearer as the sun sets, which doesn't seem to bother them. One child, no more than eight years old, waits patiently. She thinks she sees another kind of light floating in the air, and looks at her best friend, who just can't stay still.
"I think I saw one! It's almost dark enough, so we only need to wait for a few more minutes. Then they'll be everywhere!"
A stranger in a gold cloak stands at the edge of the pine forest that borders the field, clutching her left arm. She stares at the village, part of her desperately wanting to go there for help, but...something holds her back. Fear, fear of what might follow her and put the people there in danger. Her gaze turns to the ground, and then to her worn, tattered boots, and she steps out from the trees and sits down.
The moon slowly rises, and the children grow increasingly excited as the little lights appear more and more often. They begin to chase them as they laugh, but soon the child who had been so impatient before saw the strange woman. Despite knowing better, they slowly approach the woman, and see the bloodstains on her coat. They cautiously ask the woman what happened, which takes her by surprise because she didn't realize the child was there.
"It's just a scratch. But it's getting late, shouldn't you be going home?" she says.
The child refuses to leave, obviously not fooled by the woman's lie. As the woman sees the other child who is also in the field, she has an idea. She takes a minute as she seems to consider something, and after a moment she seems a little surprised, but she quickly recovers and speaks again.
"Hey, is that your friend? What if I give you a secret power that can help you both? The only catch is that you have to go home after this."
She holds out her hand, and a strange sword is in it. The child considers leaving for a moment, but the sword is so strange and enchanting. Slowly, they put their hand on the sword, and the woman smiles.
"In this hand, take this key. And so long as you have the makings, through this simple act of taking, it's wielder you will one day be."
The child begins to feel something happen in their heart, and while it's alarming at first, soon they start to feel a warmth radiating from both their heart and the sword. Whatever it was, the sword really did have some magical power, and they were getting some part of it!
"And you will find me, friend. No ocean will contain you then. No borders around, below, or above, so long as you champion the ones you love," the woman says, and the warm feeling stops. "Now, it's time for you and your friend to go home."
The child takes a few steps away, towards their friend and the village, before stopping and looking at their hand. Suddenly there's a flash of light behind them, and when they turn around the woman is gone. Unbeknownst to the child, she opened a corridor of light with her last bit of strength, and walked out of another much farther into the forest, where she sat down and leaned against a tree. She knew she had lost too much blood, but she could die in peace.
"At least I was able...to pass the gift to such an...extraordinary child. Such a strong heart, surely they'll...do great things." she says as she smiles, and her breathing slows until it stops completely.
Several years later...
The child has grown, and is now a teenager. They still hang out with the same friend, but on what had seemed to be an ordinary day, strange creatures attack the village. As they close in on the town square, the teen takes up a sword to fight. At first confident in their abilities, things quickly change when these enemies prove to be stronger and faster than expected. One lunges toward them, and just as they fear they're about to die, suddenly they're somewhere else.
A giant stained glass platform lies under their feet, and an abyss around the platform. It shines with a brilliant, almost blinding, light. And no matter how they move, the glass never cracks underneath their feet. Suddenly they notice their sword is gone. There's nothing to do but walk around the platform, and ponder if they're dreaming or dead. Or...try to figure out why their face is part of the picture on the platform. That's more than just a little creepy.
Aside from the large portrait of themselves, the glass isn't really that detailed. A feeling tells them that's because they have so much more to experience, so much to see. The background is made up of clouds, with little bits of blue sky sticking out in the places where the clouds break. They see small pictures of family and their friend, and a picture of their pet. For some reason it's wearing a collar with a little mouse head tag on it, but as strange as that is it's probably stranger that they know it's supposed to be a mouse head...
Okay, time to stop thinking about that, there's something in the distance. A...a voice?
"You can still see things, and add them to this place as you go on adventures. After all, whatever you hold dear will always become part of your heart. That's what makes hearts special."
Their heart? Is this place some abstract representation of it?
"You already know the answer to that and so much more. Just look around you."
Now that they take another look, a few other things have appeared. A sword, a shield, and a staff float above short pillars made of clouds, which happen to be shaped like keys.
"Be careful. When you welcome things in to your heart, sometimes you must turn something else away."
Well, thank you, cryptic yet informative voice.
A. Take the sword, and let it's power become yours. B. Take the shield, and let it's might protect you. C. Take the staff, and let it's wisdom combine with yours.

Now that I think about it, how many of you even know about heart stations and dives to the heart? If the extent of Golurk's KH knowledge is from Days, then I know he's completely lost when it comes to this subject.

I played most of KH 1 and a little bit of KH 2.
Can't say I remember much about either game's plot.
In case you didn't notice the bold, C is my vote.

Harold
You take the shield, and immediately realize just how formidable it's defenses are. You are grateful for that, as the area around you begins to change again.
Lucky & Isabella
You take the staff in your hands, and you feel wiser, as you also feel it's magic strengthening your own. You are grateful for that, as the area around you begins to change again.
Everyone
The other items fade away, as do the pillars they once stood on. Something tells you that you were supposed to give up only one of your choice, yet it seems destiny was cruel and forced you to give up both of the other items. Destiny is a jerk.
As you plan to give destiny a piece of your mind, creatures, just like the ones attacking the village, rise from puddles of darkness. The darkness surrounding the platform begins to creep closer, threatening to swallow you. You don't have anywhere to run, as you're surrounded by the creatures. You take a deep breath, and hold the item you choose close, ready to use it as your only weapon.
One creature lunges at you, and just like that, you start fighting them. Things seem to slow down the more you fight, and the strange reality you found yourself in grows dim, until...you're back in the village. You look around, and although the signs of a battle remain, none of the creatures are around. There aren't even any corpses. And in your hand is some kind of sword.
Okay, now you're pinching yourself, ready to wake up from the strange dream or realize that you're really dead. After all, this sword isn't really a sword, it's metal shaped like clouds and feathers, and it's pretty tacky. Ouch, that hurt, but you didn't wake up. Let's try again, only harder. Ouch! Wait...don't say this is real! It's all insane. You're insane.
...At least, that's what you think until your friend walks up from behind you, talking about how awesome it was when you summoned that sword and beat the creatures to a pulp.
That's it. No more caffeine for either of you, mom was right, it makes your imagination go haywire. It's time to go to bed, and maybe tomorrow will be better.
A few years later...
You still have that tacky blade, and can now summon it at will. Life is still very strange, and since that day, not only have you felt pressured to explore places far beyond your little world, you believe there are others out there as well. And the creatures have appeared on several occasions. You've named them Heartless, though you aren't sure exactly why that name came to mind in the first place.
And today, you stand beside the lake, paying little attention as you gaze at the water. Until...
A. The wind, which had been mostly calm and warm before, starts gusting for no apparent reason, and it's colder than ever before. B. You sense a change in the water, and...you can see the reflection of your childhood self.
