Everyone
As the strange things continue, you barely hear someone walk up behind you. Something in your gut tells you that whoever it is probably isn't friendly. Summoning your Keyblade, you spin around, but no one's there. Next you hear a chuckle behind you, and this time when you turn around, you see a figure in a black robe, it's hood covering their face.
Harold
Before you can even ask who they are, you're sent backwards by a concentrated burst of wind. It's not exactly like the magic you use, but the element is familiar, allowing you to quickly recover. You wait for a moment, and use a second blast of air that was sent at you to help propel you into the air, where you use your weight and momentum to try an aerial blow on the unusual opponent.
You nearly connect with your attack, only to have it blocked by something. As you try to recover from being thrown into the ground by the counter, you see the enemy generated six lances in the time it took to blink. This is not shaping up to be a good day.
Opponent:
No. III: Xaldin
A warrior with a silver tongue. He carries six lances, and can harness the wind.
Gotta think fast...
A. Try to run. B. Better stay on the offensive. C. Defense is best for this scenario. D. Just try to avoid his attacks.
Lucky
You raise your blade to defend yourself, then time slows dramatically. Your opponent seems unaffected, and walks around, examining you as you can only stand there, moving too slowly to do anything. Then he snaps his fingers, and time is normal again. He throws a card at you, and it cuts your left cheek as it hits you. That's no ordinary card if it can cut so easily. You deflect three more with your Keyblade, as you begin to think he's only toying with you at this point.
Your eyes narrow, and you remind yourself that everyone has a weakness you can exploit if you can just find it. You move your Keyblade in circles, creating a small vortex of wind that acts as a shield, sending cards back at the enemy. Now you have...maybe five or six seconds before he gets tired of it and moves to a position where he can hit you.
Opponent:
No. X: Luxord
Life, to him, is just a game to be won...and he has all the time in the world to do it.
Better do something soon.
A. Run as fast as you possibly can. B. Rush toward him and attack. C. Keep trying to block those cards, there's only 48 left, right? D. Keep your distance and use magic.
Isabella
You don't wait before charging at your enemy, and though it seems your attack will hit, everything slows down except for your opponent, who easily steps out of the way. He snaps his fingers, and everything moves at normal speeds again. As you try to slow down and plan your next move, he throws a card at you, and it cuts your left cheek as it hits you. That's no ordinary card if it can cut so easily. You spin around and deflect three more with your Keyblade, as you begin to think he's only toying with you at this point.

You need to do something, but what?
A. Offense is important. B. Your odds of surviving this fight are better if you prioritize defending yourself. C. Defend yourself with magic as you try to get away. D. Use magic to attack.
And this is where you can start seeing the differences involving personality and other things like that. And who sends members of Organization XIII after people who are still in the tutorial? I do.
Good luck, try not to overthink this.

Have Lucky give him a lazy D while saying,
"Not that it's too much of a bother, but can you tell me why you're fighting a nobody like me? I ask because I'm late for an afternoon nap, and this is such a nice breeze."
Yes I realize he's the one fighting a nobody.

I forgot to mention, you can also post something for your character to say if you feel like it.

C.
But he needs to end up making a flamethrower out of a nearby twig and some bugs first (JK).
Have him say "I'd rather avoid confrontation, so would you mind explaining yourself before one of us beats the s*** out of the other?"

Alright, we're going to continue. Cheese can catch up whenever he's ready. And also, you can continue to post things for your characters to say or ask whenever you want. It could help later on.
Harold
The man laughs before charging towards you with his lances. You barely avoid one, but can't quite get away from the next. It cuts your arm, although not very deep. You avoid two more of the lances, and use your Keyblade to block the next. You swing your Keyblade while he's recoiling from the blocked attack, but he ducks just in time. You swing again, but he pins your Keyblade between two of the lances, and because you're holding on to the Keyblade so tightly, he tosses you and it to the ground. Instinctively you try to sweep his legs out from underneath him with a kick, but that is blocked by more lances. It did buy you enough time to get back up and block the next few attacks, though.
"Why should I explain anything when this is such a one sided fight?" the man says.
You dodge again in time to avoid being impaled, and go back to blocking his attacks. You suddenly notice that there's a pattern to his attacks, and there's a small opening at certain points. You're sure you can use magic and other attacks to disrupt his pattern. For someone who fights offensively and using patterns they're familiar with, having someone disrupt that pattern can be crippling.
You have to do something.
A. Quickly strike with your Keyblade when you see the opening. B. Use magic when the opening comes up. C. Make it look like you're going to attack with the Keyblade, but use magic instead. D. Wait, see if you can find a different opening.
Lucky
You begin to move around the meadow, trying not to be predictable. Now that there's some distance between both of you, you begin casting wind spells as your mysterious opponent replies.
"And I'm late for a game of cards with my co-workers, yesterday was payday."
A game of cards? Yeah, you can picture that as you send a small wind projectile at the man, which then collides with one of the cards he threw at you. You continue to cast various wind spells, all of them either blocking the attacks aimed at you or being blocked by giant playing cards before they hit him. After some time the man seems to become a little more serious, and you find yourself having to dodge the giant cards as the rise from the ground underneath your feet, or appear behind you and try to hit you from the side. You need to decide if you'll keep trying to use magic, or use another tactic.
He may be serious, but what about you?
A. Time to focus on avoiding the attacks. B. You're stubborn, magic will work eventually, just give it a little more time. C. Start acting crazy and erratic. No way he can find a pattern to use against you when you have no pattern. D. Well, the Keyblade is a sword. Maybe you should try fighting at close range.

Have him reply "Because it's not terribly nice to attack semi-random strangers! Especially ones who have no idea why!"

D but while making the wind crazy and erratic.
"Then let's strike a deal. You go play your game, I'll take my nap, and the fight can resume in a few hours. Or not. I'm fine anyway the wind blows."

I'm going to just come out and say it, you both chose the less than optimal choice. What will come of it? You'll see. Make sure you pay attention to what happens, and maybe you'll start to see how your other choices effect combat. BTW, the more I learn about how your characters would act, the more customized their options will be, including some joke options. You can choose the joke options, but that's not exactly recommended, as there's no telling what will happen. Hopefully you recognize these options and won't choose them on accident.
Harold
"You weren't hurt by my magic, and that wasn't by chance. I was only trying to keep you out of the way, to avoid a conflict. Doesn't that make you the one you should be explaining?"
You continue to dodge and block a variety of attacks, and you're getting tired. You haven't seen another opening, and soon you just won't be able to wait any longer. Something has to be done!
It's hard to hold up your arms...
A. You have to run, there's just no other good option. B. Take your chances and attack with your Keyblade as soon as you see an opening, no matter how small it is. C. Take your chances and attack with magic.
Lucky
"Did you say strike?"
You rushed towards the man using your wind magic to help propel you, and you couldn't stop in time to avoid running into a giant card he used as a shield at full speed. You rub your head as you stand up, and look around to see that your foe has disappeared. You turn around as quickly as you can, only to slip on something. You find yourself on the ground again, more of the cards underneath you. So that's what you slipped on...
"Your deal didn't sound bad, but I'll take my chances," the man's voice says again, as you're surrounded by the cards.
'Take my chances' blah blah blah...
A. Hopefully your Keyblade isn't dull, because you're going to try cutting through the cards. B. Maybe you can use wind to get over the cards. C. Nah, why try going over the cards when you can use the wind to just blow them away. D. Or...you could just act like you're asleep. He'll probably leave you alone if you do that. Well, maybe. You can dream.

Harold
You try to attack as soon as you get the chance, but your enemy jumps back in time to avoid your attack, before charging at you again. Even though you manage to save yourself from the worst of the attack by blocking it initially, you don't have the strength to keep blocking it. Your arms soon buckle and you are pushed to the ground, and don't have the energy to stand back up. You've just lost the fight.
You hang your head in defeat, as...
A. The enemy taunts you. B. You hear screams coming from your village, and look to try and see what's going on.
Lucky
As you try to cut through the cards, you find that they're surprisingly sturdy. Once you finally destroy a few, more rise to take their place. But you refuse to give up just yet, and continue to try and free yourself from the prison they create.
"I don't usually play against people with so much heart."
You hear the man laugh as you charge at one of the weakened cards, and in a flash they disappear, of course causing you to miss your target and nearly making you fall. YOu don't see the man, but something tells you he isn't gone yet.
You really wish you could take that nap right now...
A. You hear the man's voice as he begins to taunt you. B. You can hear someone in your village screaming, so you turn to try and see what's happening there.

After this you'll be visiting a new world. Congrats on not being completely slaughtered in the tutorial! Of course, don't expect that things will be as easy as they were this time when you meet Xaldin and Luxord again.
Harold
The man disappears through a strange portal, and you just lay down in the grass, trying to figure out where to go from here. One thing is for sure, you'll be extra careful next time you have to fight someone in a black coat.
With a little more knowledge that will help you later on, what will you do when you begin training again?
A. Time to sharpen your skills with the Keyblade. B. Evasion will help you stay alive longer in tough fights, so that's what you'll focus on.
Lucky
You rush towards the village as the man walks through a portal. You're relieved when it's just a few weak Heartless causing he commotion, and you quickly destroy them. Still, you know you could use some more training for if something like that bizarre fight ever happens again. But for now, it's time for a nap.
With a little more knowledge that will help you later on, what will you do when you begin training again?
A. You'll learn to block attacks better. B. It's time to work on your magic again.

Note: In order to avoid paradoxes, each protagonist is essentially in a different universe from the others. The Moogle Mail system ignores this, so it's pretty much non-canon shenanigans that give actual bonuses. You can also exchange letters with moogles at times, who may have found themselves in some odd situations. Helping them out could lead to some rewards, so before you toss it aside and consider it spam, you might should read it.
Everyone
After your training, some time passed. You never saw the man you fought, and you never found any clues about who he was or where he came from. But you did eventually stumble upon an ability to make portals similar to the one he used, although yours are made of light. You began to plan a trip to see what places wait beyond those portals, and today is the day you'll enter one for the first time.
You said goodbye to your family, were forced to promise to bring back souvenirs for your friends, and grabbed your backpack that was fully stocked with food, clothes, potions and other things you'll need. You decide to stop by the post office before you head to the field, and it's only a short walk from your house.
The Post Office: Greetings, kupo!
The post office is a place you can visit after completing each world to receive random bonuses and items. One of the moogles is always ready to deliver mail no matter where you are as well, so you can interact with the other characters by sending letters and gifts whenever you feel like it. Certain gifts must be redeemed at the post office in Gale Village, but others can be used right away, even in boss fights.
But that's not all, kupo! There are plans to add even more services for adventurers like yourself, so check back often. There are even rumors of a synthesis shop opening up soon, run by one of the postmaster's relatives.
Enjoy, and remember kupo; it is better to give than to receive!
Would you like to send a letter? We have two other new adventurers that might like to get a letter from you, kupo.
