"Everyone here is just as grumpy as you are, except that, bloke, over there." the man said as he pointed at the whistling Tiefling who was now sitting down in a cart drawn by a donkey.

"Just because I don't find you likable doesn't make me grumpy, you ample fellow. Regardless, that wagon does make him look rather promising. Perhaps he has some drink." Walking over, Aranno waved lazily. "Hello there. Got anything to drink?"

"Ha, nope." The Tiefling smiled. "Nothing that isn't water, and you've probably got the same."

"Damn, here I was hoping for a decent way to quench my thirst. Are you at least friendlier than the clowns, odd though that may sound?"

The Tiefling sat stunned for a few seconds before answering. "Define friendly."
"Next!" The guard at the gate called before everyone moved forwards.

Moving up in the line, Aranno kept his eyes on the Tiefling, raising an eyebrow at his demand. "Does the word amiable make more sense to you?"

"Nope."

"Oh. Well, are you easier to talk to than the clowns? You seem to be, but you also seem rather suspicious. Does that make more sense?"

"Yes." Morlius said as he used Mage Hand to go through his backpack.
The guard walked up to the fat man, and the two began to talk.

"Oh, well... Wait, which question are you answering? Does it make more sense, or are you friendlier?"

Ezekiel went back to waiting. He listened to the tiefling hum and tried to compose along in his head.
When that failed he decided to ask a question aloud again.
"Does anyone know what we're waiting for?"

"To get inside, I'd wager." Nergui replies to Ezekiel. "There was a recent influx of refugees, so we may be here a while yet. I only hope that the people who have gotten inside are being treated with due respect."

Ezekiel nodded politely.
"Yes, of course. I mean, we're waiting in a line leading towards a city in the middle of a scorching desert. Our intent is obviously to harvest their apples. I'm more concerned with what the hold up is. It's been a while."

"Their... apples?" Nergui asks confusedly. "Er, never mind... I'm sure this is standard fair for the guards. We wouldn't want to let in any ne'er do wells."

A bard sat behind a donkey drawn cart. He was playing his Kantele. He had been the whole time, but he was muting the strings to keep it quite. He was pretty enough to be mistaken for a woman from a distance, so naturally he got a few looks his way. The constant low growls from the Wagon had finally caught his attention. He put away the string instrument in his backpack before walking up near the Teefling. With his hat tilted down to block the sun and his eyes, he said, "What do you think has that creature so riled up?"

"The heat, lack of food, imprisonment, a number of things." The Tiefling responded. "I can't communicate with it, so that's just my guess."

"Huh, I once new a girl kept under the same conditions. I hear she's a cannibal now." Growing bored soon after, he imitated the Teeflings whistling.

"Not funny." Morlius answered before using the Mage Hand to slap him on the back of the head.

"I don't think it was supposed to be funny. And that's rather rude of you, hitting a stranger upside the head."
